This hotel is in a really great location, very close to Leiden Centraal station. From the outside it is very well lit with its iconic signage and the interior is chic with well designed rooms. The television had the option to use Netflix which is a nice touch alongside the toiletries (including conditioner and body lotion!) The reception area is welcoming and a good place to rest before/after check-in/check-out. Leiden is a lovely place to stay, with good connections to both Amsterdam and Delft.

The room had not been thoroughly cleaned on arrival. We raised this with the staff and they took on the feedback and cleaned the room again for us. As the reception was only manned during office hours, we waited until the next morning to let the hotel staff know. The staff were available to call, but had to be rung on the local Netherlands number. It would be good to be able to ring on WhatsApp. However the hotel staff were also contactable via the booking.com website/app.

This is a modern, well decorated, very well-located, fully automated hotel. The rooms are well-sized, clean, quiet, with very (VERY) comfortable beds. The breakfast is a full buffet served at the sister hotel next door (The Golden Tulip). The hotel is literally 5 minutes from the train station and 10 minutes walking to downtown Leiden or to the University Medical Center. Fantastic finding. If I need to return to Leiden, I would make sure to stay at the VIC again!

The automated check-in and check-out process could be a plus, or... a challenge. Especially if you lock yourself out of the room. I had to call assistance as I could not figure out how to obtain a duplicate of my room key. Besides that, I have no complaints at all!

Location was perfect : Very near the train station and at a few minutes walking from the center, although the hotel is at a busy road, the rooms are not noisy at all. Located next to Golden Tulip Hotel who we found out later owns the place. Rooms are modern, clean and colorful

Reception was rarely manned. Found out only day after that they are using the Golden Tulip reception staff which was extremely lovely and helpful by the way. But before we knew this we had some issues that could not be answered right away. Would have been nice that the lady who welcomed us first day would have told us. Good breakfast also to be taken at Tulip Hotel

Really enjoyed my stay. Staff were friendly and helpful. Loved having full access to a local gym very close by. Loved the location as very close to train station and centre of town and attractions. I could walk everywhere. Best shower ever in a hotel!

I found the breakfast expensive so only when once. It was nice. Given the cost of the room and the length of my stay (one week) it would have been nice to have it included. Was a bit surprised that I had to do a self checkin in the afternoon but when I needed help I did call and someone came.

Close to the station, beautiful and comfortable room. The excellent breakfast was available at the restaurant next door with plenty of options for dietary restrictions. Staff were super pleasant and friendly in their welcome. Easy walking distance to centre of Leiden and all the wonderful attractions town has to offer: long leisurely canal walks, pavement and canal side cafes and restaurants, culture and vibrant yet friendly and charming atmosphere.

Automated check-in was difficult as even with Booking reference and PIN ID/ Name it didn’t work. Prefer to speak to lovely team who were very helpful. Safe did not work on arrival then jammed on departure but the friendly team were quick to resolve the situation.

the self check-out process The self check-out device was a bit complicated, and the software didn’t have a user-friendly interface. I set the language to English, but it seemed to switch to Dutch at the end! This can be a bit stressful, especially in the morning when you’re on a schedule. We typically expect a quick check-out, similar to hotels with human reception, where it sometimes takes less than 20 seconds.

Close to train station. New property. Comfortable beds and could get a different pillow. Coffee and tea available in the room. Has a lift. Aircon was very good and our room was quiet. Staff were very helpful and nice.They have a self service food and coffee area downstairs as there is no room service. There are nearby places for food.

Very hard and big pillow. I know pillows are very personal, yet my son did not like it either. Self check in was ok, yet when you come after a long flight, late at night, some more personal greeting would be better. Also, after the check out we had couple of hours to stroll around the city. we left bags at the locked storage at the hotel. When we came back nobody was at the desk and we had to call s local number, and our phones could not dial that, and the was no land line at the hotel to call the office. We had to ask a stranger to call hhe office. A bit awkward

The hotel VIC is located five minutes walking distance from Leiden station and 10 minutes within the city center. The room was big with great lighting and nicely decorated. The check-in and check out was easy and bags could be stored during the day Loved my time time at the hotel VIC.

There was not always someone at the reception desk so the customer needed to call a special number and I had to pay 30 Euros extra for an early check in.
