We are travelling from Australia recently stayed at Distrikt Hotels in Zaandam and had an overall pleasant experience. The property is beautiful, well-located, and the staff is genuinely warm and welcoming. Aissam was especially kind, and the owner of the property was extremely supportive throughout my stay. Ella stood out as well—she was incredibly helpful, attentive, and went above and beyond to assist us. All other staff members, both boys and girls, were friendly and always carried a positive attitude and always stepped in to help us with any issues. We were also accommodated with an early check-in, which was much appreciated and made our arrival smooth and stress-free by owner. However, I did face a significant issue during my stay related to the in-room safe. I had been using the safe the same way for two days without any problems. On the day of the incident, I locked my bag keys and important medications (brought from Australia) in the safe before heading out. When I returned around 11 PM, the safe started showing an error code and wouldn’t open. Ella, who had just finished her shift, did her best by calling the manager and the owner, but unfortunately, no one picked up. The night shift manager, who was present at the time, was wearing headphones and was extremely unresponsive, unsupportive, and appeared unprofessional in handling the situation. Despite Ella handing over the issue to him, he took no action, leaving me without access to my belongings or crucial medications for the night. It wasn’t until the next morning around 9:30 AM that the owner provided the master code to unlock the safe. I appreciate that the owner took the time to sit down with me, offer a genuine apology, and even provided complimentary breakfast as a gesture of goodwill. The hotel is stylish and clean. I liked the free coffee of a morning. The room is tidy and has the basic things you need. Great LED mirror too! The bed was large and comfortable!

The room was very small and poky. We had 2 large suitcases so didn’t really have space for them and whatnot. The hotel is about 10-15min walk to Zaandam station and then catch a train that is 10mins from Amsterdam Centraal. Train is €3.1 pp one way. Zaandam has about 3 cool buildings and that’s all to see there. No good pubs or restaurants nearby. I chose the location as I thought it would be convenient and it saved me a few hundred dollars compared to staying in Amsterdam. It’s a good option if you’re on a budget but otherwise I’d recommend staying closer to the city.

This was a great place to stay for what we needed (just one night). It is easily accessible from the train station. The room (and bathroom) was clean, with a very comfortable bed, while it also includes a kettle with some teas/coffee, and a small desk. They offer free coffee (in the morning at least) at the reception, which was also great to know. Additionally, my boyfriend needed somewhere to park his triatlon bike in a safe place, and they offered to put it in the storage. The guys at the reception (Semi and an Italian one - sorry for not remembering the name) were absolutely kind and helpful.

We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel because it had all the characteristics we were looking for. Its location is perfect since it’s very very close to the city center and also to the train station which is the best mean of transportation in our opinion since it’s not that expensive and will take you anywhere and, most importantly, it will take you to Amsterdam Centraal in about 15 minutes! Talking about the hotel itself, the breakfast was very nice and the food was all very tasty. The staff was incredibly friendly, polite, sweet and professional, especially Amed (sorry if I wrote your name incorrectly) who was super friendly and sweet, always ready to help us out and tell us everything we needed to know about the city itself and its surroundings! A bonus point was that we were able to speak to him in our native language which is Italian! Overall it was a magnificent experience and we will surely come back! With much love from Italy!

Absolutely lovely stay! Massive shoutout to Ahmed for being the most helpful member of staff! He went above and beyond to make us feel truly welcomed after a long journey. His warm and friendly manner instantly put us at ease. We also really appreciated the complimentary coffee—such a thoughtful touch! The room was clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend and stay again!

The only downsides were noise from pedestrians outside, which could be a bit disruptive at times, and the area around the bin just outside the hotel sometimes had rubbish left on the ground by passers-by. That said, these were minor issues and didn’t take away from an otherwise great experience.

I stayed at Distrikt Hotels for four nights and had a really good experience overall. The room was clean and comfortable — nothing fancy, but it felt cozy and had everything I needed. The Wi-Fi worked well, the bed was comfy, and the bathroom was spotless with a good shower. The staff were friendly and easy to talk to. The man at reception, Ahmed (hope I’ve spelled it correctly 🙏🏻), was really nice and professional. He gave me some great tips on local spots to visit, which made a big difference. Breakfast was not included in the price, so if you want it, you need to pay a little extra. In the room, there was a kettle to make some coffee or tea on your own. If you're staying longer than a few days, you might get a bit bored of it, though. The location was a big plus: a 10-minute walk to the train station and a 5-minute walk to the bus station — so if you want to visit other nearby towns and didn’t rent a car, it’s very convenient. The only small downside was the thin walls and windows — I could sometimes hear the people next door and cars passing by on the street nearby. So maybe bring earplugs just in case. Overall, it’s a solid, chill place to stay if you want something clean, comfortable, and close to the city centre of Zaandam without breaking the bank. I’d definitely stay again.

The small queen room was actually slightly bigger than I expected from the picture. The rooms are clean and modern. There's AC. The free espresso/hot cocoa machine in the lobby is fantastic - they actually stock it with two different kinds of good coffee. And the people who work here are all friendly and helpful.

Because the shower floors are flat, it is hard not to get water all over the bathroom. The mattresses are not great - though they do have thick pillow tops, which helps a lot. I would give the beds 8/10.

Single room and extremely comfortable bed. Only problem was it took up whole width of room so you had to crawl in it and kinda roll down out! You had to leave your things side of top of bed as shelf at top dropped right down by window. Good bathroom and shower with wall shampoo and wash holders. A small fridge would be nice for a summer stay. Location good at end of high street to station. Nearby shops and supermarket near station area. Free coffee/chocolate machine.

The hotel was very clean, the staff were helpful, and it was great value. The area is quiet, out of the way. Zero complaints about the hotel or staff.

Absolutely nothing that could be improved on - the hotel is amazing. We hadn't realised just how far the hotel was from the train station, so getting to and from the hotel on foot took some getting used to. Again, nothing the hotel did wrong - more just a warning for "athletically challenged" guests.
