The rooms are excellent. Very comfortable & decadent. A little on the "cozy" size if you like a bigger room but they were perfect for us. As coffee snobs, we were most happy to find plunger coffee & a plunger in the room so we could get our fix first thing. Beds are very comfortable & we had a great night's rest. There was some confusion at breakfast as you need to fill out a card the night before to get breakfast early. Because we had to leave, there was a chance we'd miss the breakfast we'd paid for but the staff were so accommodating & made us coffee whilst the kitchen prepared us a couple of takeaway breakfast rolls. Made us feel particularly valued.
The dinner service was slow. Full disclosure...it was a special evening (Valentine's Day) & they were very busy so I'm sure under normal circumstances this wouldn't be an issue. Wasn't a massive problem & gave us the chance to have a great chat with the couple seated beside us. Still a very enjoyable dinner.

Wow! I was not expecting how amazing our stay would be. We travelled to Martinborough to do a wine tour and had no expectations for the hotel. I have to say, the atmosphere, the staff, and the quality of our stay absolutely exceeded my expectations. The food was fantastic, the room was an experience, and the location was perfect. I wish we had booked an extra day just to hang out in the restaurant/cafe. There is a great cafe across the road that also does cheese tastings. I want to mention that Taylor was SO helpful and went above and beyond to make our stay incredible.

Our stay at the Royal Hotel Featherston was one of our ultimate highlights on our trip! Our room was decorated so elegantly, the bathroom was incredible, the dresser was full of warm hospitality items, the Featherston book was so creatively done and fun to read, the hotel felt so historic, and the town was amazing! Don't forget to see the ONLY fell rail engine in the world, the INCREDIBLE cheese shop, and the bakery. This is a must stop place and the hotel took our stay to the next level!

The bed was amazing. So comfy to lounge in the day after a heavy night at a wedding. Location was perfect for the wedding but not much else.
Check in was pretty rushed. I did arrive at Midday and I'm aware check in is at 2pm so thought I'd try my luck. And luck I was in. The gentleman behind the bar gave me an extremely quick run down of the hotel, where the room was( as the sign at the top of the stairs is wrong) , coming in after hours etc. Made for a very rushed welcome but it was lunchtime rush. This really isn't a biggie as the next day/night everyone was lovely. Oh and it can get pretty loud in the morning if your room is by the road.

Our room, the King suite was a beautiful example of Victorian luxury with all the decor, furnishings and bedding perfectly coordinated. It's large and comes with a large fully tiled private bathroom. Everything was clean to a high standard. I highly recommend a stay here if you want to experience something amazing. Even the books thoughtfully placed around the room are 19th century. And downstairs the Brac n Bow is a restaurant of exceptional quality.

Wow - what a wonderful old building, brought up to date with style and just a bit of humour. A mix of antique and steam punk made for a quirky and absolutely wonderful overnight stay. but the real reason we went was for the food - it was one of the best meals we have had in ages. The service was impeccable, the presentation stunning and each plate was a delight to the taste buds. As was the general area - we had a drink in the bar side (just beautiful and a bit luxe with their plush chairs) before moving through to the restaurant side but the chap who volunteered to play the piano was playing to both. Such a wonderful evening - will not forget it soon.

I loved the historic building, with its Victorian hallways and sympathetic restoration and decor. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was charming and well-equipped. We enjoyed our Sunday roast dinner in the dining room/bar, with comfy chairs near the log fire. The historic photos on the walls were fascinating.
Bedside lamps too dim for reading in bed.

Lovely heritage building with stylish decor. Lots of luxurious touches like a clawfoot bath and beautiful design throughout. Very friendly service and received complimentary wine. Dinner was delicious and the menu had some creative twists. Breakfast was delicious with a choice of a la carte options with espresso coffee and OJ included. We had truffled scrambled eggs with ham off the bone and potato dauphinoise and a full cooked breakfast with local bread. Very cute that restaurant is named after owners dogs. We like that is closer to Wellington than Martinborough or Greytown and that there is electric vehicle charging nearby. Great that there is A/C in the rooms. Really recommend for a romantic getaway or a luxurious girls trip.

The authentic era design, the staff were fantastic, helpful very friendly and made our experience a wonderful stay. Nothing was ever too much. Food and service was awesome. Our Room was comfortable and everything needed was provided. The architecture was again beautiful.
The stairs however they were part of the architecture and original to the building

Absolutely beautiful rooms and facilities - stunning! We didn't have a chance to use the restaurant which was a shame as it looked cozy with a nice friendly vibe
Understandably given it's in such a small town - it is only staffed while the restaurant is open (which is quite late in the morning) so you need to be quite self sufficient / organized e.g. your key opens the front door so you can let yourself in at night and you leave it in a basket when you check yourself out
