The view was exceptional, and the desk provided a perfect space to work on my laptop while enjoying the scenery—it made working feel effortless. The interior layout was well thought out, with all the expected luxuries provided. The staff were friendly, attentive, and extremely helpful with all my requests. Overall, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and well-maintained.

I often worked late into the evening, so having food options available after hours would have been ideal. However, the staff went out of their way to assist me in arranging Uber Eats, which I greatly appreciated.

I stayed in the two-bedroom apartment on level 1. Room 1 had a Queen bed and large windows (doesn't open) however there is a heat pump if you need the aircon on. Room 2 had x2 single beds with a door to a single sized balcony with great airflow. Full sized kitchen with everything you need as well as a 6-seater dining table. The lounge has flat screen TV and sofas etc, with double sliding door out to the balcony (carpark view) outdoor table and chairs. The bathroom has the usual shower, toilet, toiletries, towels etc, along with a washing machine and dryer which was very convenient. There is a outdoor swimming pool at the back. You will have to ask for the time it open and close as the door to the pool is locked at night.

The gym was a disappointment. x1 treadmill, x1 bike and x1 cross trainer in a small room placed side by side facing two small high windows.

Excellent location, friendly staff and overall cleanliness was superb. Easy check in and out, although we didn't get to use pool or gym facilities, they were presented clean and tidy. Appreciate the recommendations in the elevator for 'The Wharf' restaurant and bar, food there is pleasurable.

I would have found it helpful if it was mentioned that rooms with River views may experience noise pollution from the port as it was slightly annoying and the River view rooms are slightly more expensive.

We arrived from a different hotel that left us so disappointed. We let the reception know prior to our arrival and the love and care they showed us will never be forgotten. We loved being there so much that we have decided to make portside our go to relax spot once a month for hubby and I. To the staff there you are all a absolute asset to the portside team.. we are forever grateful.. we shall see you all next month..

There is absolutely nothing I can fault.

Portside is in avery convenient location, the room is a good size and has a really great layout including a clever kitchen with dishwasher and oven. The room was very quiet which we really enjoyed. The room was also nice and warm without using the heatpump (6°c outside). Check in was efficient and pleasant.

Upon entering our room we were met by a horrible smell. It was the drain in the kitchen. I fixed the problem by pouring water down the drain and opening the window. This solved the problem within minutes.

Great location to Central Gisborne. Friendly staff, nice comfortable room. Bed was super comfy with beautiful linen. Swimming pool and water view was great. Easy parking.

While the bathroom was nice, some of the bathroom facilities are tired and dated. Shower had a leak, tile was chipped and shower cavity a little tired. All of this is just general wear and tear to be expected in a high use facility. However, none of these things impacted my stay and I enjoyed being here.

Excellent location, spotlessly clean, very comfortable, good price

The rooms that aren’t overlooking the port (which is a beautiful view) overlook the car park. The Master bedroom in our 2 bedroom apartment was pretty small with no storage. Would have been good to have a drying rack provided in the apartments that have a washing machine - there’s a dryer but for things that can’t go in the dryer we had to hang it all on the outdoor furniture in the balcony which wasn’t great for anyone!

Great place to stay with perfect location to waterside restaurants and shops all in easy walking distance. The room was spotlessly clean and well equipped. Tea, coffee etc were replenished each day which often doesn’t happen in other accommodation. Would definitely stay again.

No mirror in the bedroom/lounge area.

This is the best value accommodation in Gisborne. Close to town, etc, and well maintained. Staff are also really good.

We realised that whilst we had booked a low-cost room, our view was pretty uninspiring and our balcony didn't have any furniture so that we could use it to watch the sun go down.

Location is excellent. We loved our morning walks by the ocean. So close to town. Loved the view of the port...so interesting. Pool is cold, but lovely and refreshing. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We slept well as the bed was comfortable.

We enjoyed the room but think all rooms need outside chairs, not just some rooms. The exercise room is very small and needs more equipment
