The location and cleanliness.

The somewhat impersonal and non- verbal communication between guests and staff did not bode well. We were merely texted instructions on how to access the unit given the proprietor was not on site for our mid-afternoon check-in. There was no follow-up contact to check if we had arrived and settled in etc. Furthermore, we initially could not operate the tv and texted the owner but received no response. Fortunately,, we managed to locate the remote control and access the wifi. A simple verbal call from the owner would have made all the difference as well as making us feel welcome. This experience proved to be rather disconcerting and disappointing.

Comfy beds, well equipped, easy to find, beautiful location. The sunset from the main bedroom was beautiful.

The locks weren’t working on the patio doors, I messaged the owner as soon as I realised, they came back to me the next day after I had left to let me know they had replaced the locks. That was super quick for them to sort out which was great! I used a hairband temporarily to stop the lever falling down and unlocking it.

We expected a pleasant little room in a small seaside town. Wow, the unit far exceeded that. There were 2 bedrooms up a stairway, one with outstanding views over the water. It was more of an Air bnb or even apartment than a motel room. Also, the owner/manager was terrific, with clear instructions & directions for retrieving our room key if reception was not open on arrival.

This is nothing within control of owner/manager, but Google Maps provided no direction when I searched for directions using the motel name. I used the address & did fine. The Google Maps inability to provide directions to the name did cause me to wonder if the motel really existed as a motel. I don't know the process of getting Google Maps to provide directions to a facility name (it's probably entirely an internal Google Maps matter).

Spacious and clean unit. Large fridge. Easy access to the key with a lock box and code I had been advised of in advance. Close to the beach. Comfortable furniture.

I only used the downstairs area of the accommodation, there needs to be a bedside lamp or light by the downstairs bed. The room was hot, could do with a fan or air con. There was a heat pump, I don't know if that can be used to cool the rooms, I couldn't find a manual for it.

Our unit was spotlessly clean. It's not a new property, but is well maintained. Bed was extremely comfortable with quality linen. These units have plenty of room, much more than we needed for just the two of us! Would easily suit a family or two couples travelling together. Loved Moeraki Village - a lovely, quiet place to stay.

Nothing to dislike, but be aware that this accommodation is on two levels. Two bedrooms upstairs as well as a double bed downstairs in the living room. Bathroom is downstairs.

We booked here because I wanted to photograph the Moeraki Boulders at sunrise and it was very close. It was somewhere we would not have normally ventured to but were glad we did. We cooked our own dinner but there was a nearby tavern about 5 mins away and a fish and chip shop. Check in was very easy with a message prior to our arrival and an easily accessible locked box. The unit was very spacy and great value for the price. Would definitely stay here again if I was to return.

The car parking was a bit tight but nothing worse than a shopping center car park. If it was wet weather, there is no protection from the car to your accommodation.

Great location - sea views from the main bedroom and an easy walk to the beach, jetty and local tavern for dinner. Nice and warm, well-equipped unit, with night lights on the stairs, which was great for those late night bathroom stops.

It would be good if different thickness pillows were provided - I found them a bit to dense for me and my son. But that is a very minor point and certainly wouldn't stop us staying at the motel again.

Absolutely a beautiful place with fantastic meals available at the tavern with an amazing beach walk in the morning

Fleur's restaurant had closed. Would loved to experience that, but it was super cool to look through the windows and see it trapped in time

Excellent location with easy walk to beach and Tavern. Very sunny and fabulous views from balcony upstairs.

Unfortunately their were very boisterous children running up and down the deck in front of my room. A couple of microwave proof bowls would be great for cooking.

Nothing. We loved it. We were a family of 2 adults and 3 children and it was perfect for us. Like the other reviews the stairs are pretty hectic up to the bedrooms, but only if you’re not very careful.
