Quite steep steps to upstairs units for older folks carrying luggage.

When I arrived I was greeted by a very friendly receptionist, she made me feel welcome which instantly gave this place a plus for me. The room is modest, but comfortable and they have really gone above and beyond for motel facilities! The heating was already on so the room was nice and warm, the beds had electric blankets and the kitchen had everything you need, including free coffee and tea and an area to cook. They also have sky channels, so it's easy to relax after a long day out.

It's hard to pick things to not like, considering this is a motel. I think they've done very well, but if I have to say one thing it would be the water pressure of the shower and the comfort of the pillows. Besides these things, everything was great!

Check-in staff welcomed us warmly and gave us a map and great local tips. Unit was very spacious, and it was great to have a full kitchen. Set back just a bit from the main highway and very quiet at night. Easy parking. Spotless and well equipped.

Beds were a bit on the soft side (but this was minor - they were spotlessly clean). We couldn’t figure out how to get the microwave to work.

Great location a short drive from the Victorian precinct, spotlessly clean and very spacious. The bathroom was also large and recently renovated, and while the kitchen was yet to be brought up to date, it had everything we expected and more.

I was a little concerned by the flight of steep concrete steps, especially when I found an unattended toddler at the top of them!

With a family of six, it isn't easy to find suitable accommodations. The Midway Motel was affordable, clean, and comfortable. Everyone had a bed and no one had to sleep on the couch!

The motel is a little outdated and could use some renovation. The paint is peeling here and there and the plumbing is a little sticky. But, overall, we had a wonderful stay.

Very convenient to the penguin viewing and you don’t have to drive far to get to it after the viewing late at night. Manager was very responsive and it had everything we needed, including laundry. We really enjoyed staying here.

Maybe a small table in the bathroom to put things on.

Location was great. Quiet even though on main street. Good to have parking. Great room size. Great to have an actual oven and cooking supplies. Very good to have the tin foil covers on dishes.

Perhaps provide a roll of tin foil in the room.

The location was fine as we were exploring Oamaru. Being an older motel I was surprised the bed was so comfortable, as I have back issue. It was an exceptionally clean room & had everything we needed.

We weren't cooking anything but I was amused by the wee older oven!

The host provided excellent tips for watching blue penguins, which made our trip unforgettable. The room was spotless, and the bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep. Highly recommend this place for its warm hospitality and thoughtful advice!

Price is excellent and facilities are clean, comfortable and sufficient

Toilet cistern took a long time to refill this water trickling noise lasts a while after flush. Sharp knife was super blunt. Seems very trivial but very hard to cut tomatoes.
