This is a classy joint. It's worth a few extra dollars. The location's perfect, right on the waterfront adjacent to the vast old fort. The restaurant's halibut with red caviar, pickled apple, mushrooms and cabbage was a rare treat. Try it. If you like fish you won't regret it. It's an ancient gem of a hotel, so there's no lift to the first, second and third floors, but the climb could be good for you. It's an easy morning's drive from Oslo or the Horten ferry across the fiord from Moss. There are plenty of other sights within easy range with a car.

Location and wonderful restaurant staff. Food was also quite good! Especially the buffet breakfast.

Too much furniture in our room. Hard to move around without hitting a chair. Weird makeshift closet in room. Definitely an afterthought.

The staff was very nice and kind. They made our room ready even before the check in time. Our room had a big balcony and we had rituals goods in the shower. Breakfast was a feast. They offered us meat extra since we do not eat pork. It was accomodating.

The rooms are outdated and there was mold. There is no elevator so we had to drag our suitcases up ourselves.

The staff was exceptional, very pleasent and helpful. They let us check in 3 hours earlier which was very helpful in this small town. The bed was another level of comfortable.

A bit tiny room, it was hard to move around the bed, not a lot of space. For example there is no room to put the chair in front of the table to sit down. Interenet was slow.

Beautiful location in such a nice little village.

The staff, especially the front desk staff, was not friendly at all. They stayed isolated back behind a screen and didn’t mutter Good Morning or any other greeting to guests. The bathrooms had a problem with the drains being smelly. The drain covers were not nice.

Historic hotel, full of charme. Very good position, near the sea. Good breakfast although the food should be covered. Good in-house restaurant. The parking slots in front of the hotel are free of charge for 24 hours.

We would suggest darker room curtains for rooms looking eastwards (In the morning it's too light too early).

Everything was wonderful

A lovely place to stay as a stop off from Oslo travelling to Bremen. We had a lovely large balcony and was able to make the most of the sun

Better selection of bread and pastries. Eggs were over cooked. Oatmeal would have been nice.

Fantastic staff, lady ,kind and helpfull, perfect room with a sea view,( thank you once again) in very nice style and very comfortable furniture, warm, nice bathroom, very good smelling soap, everything really clean, parking space in front of the hotel. quiet hotel. Rooms with memories dedicated and named after special people. We had a really good time in 222. There are many wonderfull paintings and historical decorations all over the hotel, photographs..Really nice. Toilet paper with the hotel`s logo was very nice idea... Coffe and tea in the room, minibar. Sunday lunch was fantastic, specially fish. Sea food, meat, pasta, roastbeef, salmon in a fantastic sauce.Home made deserts., cheese....Here is a really good cook. A lot of meals to choose among, perfect. Vine, beer, tonic, and water in the nice bottle.Breakfast also very good, Very kind lady in restaurant in the morning too. Different salmons, fresh croissants,a really good choice for everyone... Very good coffee. Hotel is situated close to the sea, very nice to take an evening stroll... we decided to repeat our trip again. We had a really good time. And we say: Thank you all.
