Our family had an experience that felt like happy sailors on shore leave in this historic hotel full of old-world charm! The location is perfect—right in the center for all your adventures, yet so peaceful it feels like a little hidden oasis. The services are fantastic: breakfast and dinner buffets so abundant we’re still not sure we managed to taste everything! The dining room is amazing, with the atmosphere of a real 1800s fishing boat—all that was missing were some nets on the walls and the cry of seagulls. The tea room by the entrance is so inviting you’ll find yourself tempted to have a snack at any hour. A big thank you to the blonde lady (the captain herself?) who welcomed us with a brilliant smile, and to all the “men of the sea” in the kitchen, always ready to feed us with great enthusiasm. At the end, we even discovered a well-equipped gym with Technogym machines and a sauna… so after eating like pirates, we could at least pretend to feel sporty (for about five minutes!).

Honestly, the only downside was that we had to leave—what a pity to say goodbye!

Our only reason to visit Sandefjord was to use TORP airport. But it turned out to be a nice little city and this hotel was close to train station as we took a train from Oslo Central to Sandefjord. 10 minute walk to hotel from train station. Pleasant staff. Hotel fee included dinner, though it turned out to be a buffet with just one choice of main course. However, food (salmon) was excellent, with boiled potatoes and great salads as sides. Hotel room was very comfortable, large bathroom too. Breakfast buffet was extensive though, but we didn't have time for it as we had to depart early to airport.

Hotel should perhaps clarify that the dinner included is a one-choice buffet. But otherwise, very nice place if you need to use TORP airport or are driving around Norway.

Everything. It was brilliant. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Rooms were very clean and spacious. The communal areas were also lovely and quite luxurious. Free tea and coffee and cake for "Fika time". The evening meal was delicious and plenty of food. I'm a vegetarian and they made me something special. In the morning we had an early flight so they arranged for us to have some early breakfast, Jan Erik was brilliant and ensured we had everything we needed. I would highly recommend this hotel and we will be back.

There is a "museum" in the hotel that seems to be celebrating the culture of whale hunting in Norway. Not for me!

The hotel is beautiful, staff were friendly and helpful, rooms were very spacious and beds extremely comfortable. The decor in the hotel was themed with the whaling history of the area. The breakfast was very good and we had dinner included which we didn't realise was a help yourself buffet style, however, it was also good. There was a bar under the hotel that you can access from the reception and 24 hour tea and coffee in the reception area. The location was great and pretty close to everything.

Everything was spot on! In particular, the staff were amazing! Having arrived late (midnight) because our flight was delayed, we were expecting problems checking in but we couldn't have been more wrong. The guy on reception was instantly welcoming and friendly and even kept the bar open so we could get a drink after a long day. While drinking the beer (local brew for those who are interested) we were given tips on what to see and were to go. We followed the advice the next day and were not disappointed. Breakfast had everything you could imagine. From cooked food to fresh fruit and produce and meats and cheeses, it was all there. We lost our room key while we were out and was expecting to be charged for a new one but again the amazingly friendly staff just gave us another for free! There is also a secure lock up to leave your luggage if you are not leaving immediately after check out which was also free (we've been charged for this sort of thing in the past).

The hotel has a charming and classy ambiance, with elegant decor based on the whaling industry and a warm, inviting atmosphere. The evening buffet had limited options, but the food quality was good and well-prepared. However, the real standout was breakfast with a great variety of options. The staff is very friendly and welcoming.

The room was clean and comfortable, but the furniture felt a bit outdated.

Elegant, beautiful and sophisticated from the moment you walk into the lobby doors to the room. The staff was extremely polite, kind, serving and great talk, specially the awesome blonde female attendant ( I wish I could remember the name). She answered every question we had about the area, the town , recommendations and even took the time to personally write down on a map specific instruction of where we needed to go to see the most iconic things in town. The hotel provided the two of us with umbrellas since it rained the whole day. The pastries were delicious and the dinner buffet was exquisite. The hotel even has some sort of museum inside which was awesome. Have no complaints . Would totally stay there again if I ever come back.

I have no issues. Maybe just to consider including some amenities in the bathroom.

Breakfast and evening meal were really good. it was a buffet. The hotel is full of interesting pictures and artefacts from the whaling industry and although I am not usually interested in such things I actually found it fascinating and educational about the local history. No need to visit a museum, just stay here. The hotel was very clean with friendly staff. Free unlimited cups of tea throughout your stay was the best part.

I liked the fact that you have breakfast and dinner included (really good food) and also fresh coffee all the time, including cute little croissants in meantime just as refreshment before the dinner. Also stuff was so polite and kept our baggage after check out since our flight was in the evening. Also everybody are very kind, helpful and whatever you ask them they are here to help if they can.

Everything. The hotel had a lot of charm and had all the modern amenities needed for a comfortable and easy stay. The food was delicious and we loved the all inclusive system in the very cool restaurant setting where we felt like we were inside a boat. What is not to love about this hotel? I think they have really thought about what customers like. We only stayed one night but hope to come back.
