We absolutely loved staying at Casa Matará! The rooms were clean with comfortable, warm beds. I run cold and after reading lots of reviews of different Cusco hotels where reviewers mentioned being cold, was worried about being chilly, but felt completely cozy at Casa Matará. There was an extra blanket that we didn’t need to use. The included breakfast was delicious and filling, and cooked by the owners every morning. Much better than your typical free breakfast — It included fruit/yogurt/granola, bread, eggs, cheese/ham/avocado, and butter/fruit marmalade in addition to tea/coffee. I already miss it! Most importantly, the owners are so lovely and kind. Carmen felt like family, and we felt truly cared for. We stayed there both before/after our Inca trek trip, and they not only stored our luggage but remembered us by name and asked about our trip when we got back! This is a stay and location we won’t ever forget.

We stayed there twice, one room did only have a window to the hallway, the second one had a window to the outside. The latter was quite call though.

This property was very close to the plaza, it was very clean, and the staff was very friendly and professional. I love the fact that we were able to check in early, and they were quick to accommodate our arrival.

I stayed here before and after my Inca trail hike. The hotel was very clean, nicely decorated, and the proprietors were so kind! I loved that the front door stayed locked and that they had to buzz you in— made me feel very safe as a solo female traveler. The included breakfast was large and delicious. It included coffee or tea, eggs, fruit and yogurt, bread with butter and jam, and ham and cheese. The hotel was great about organizing transportation for me, and also took care of some laundry that needed to be done. The area was perfect, and was about a 10 minute walk from everything I needed, and only 1-2 blocks from a pharmacy and supermarket. I would definitely stay there again!

The staff is so warm kind and extremely helpful in every way. Carmen was the best host as she greeted us each morning with wonderful breakfast options. They even packed us a bag to go when we left for Machu Picchu very early one day during our stay. Breakfast options included coffee or tea, fresh rolls, cheese and ham, butter and jelly, fruits with yogurt and granola and eggs where Carmen shined by offering us whatever style we wanted. The accommodations are quaint and comfortable and we felt like home. Tea is offered at all times on your floor.

Absolutely nothing I highly recommend this quaint establishment

The best feature of this hotel were the staff. The lady at reception and who cooked us breakfast every morning went above and beyond to help us. From organising day trips to seeing us off at the front door when we left. Breakfast was pretty much the same each morning but that didn't bother us as it was excellent quality. The bed was large and very comfortable.

For a hotel of this standard the facilities weren't great. There was no mini fridge, no safe, no luggage racks, (all bags ended up on the floor) and no table to sit at or put things on, just a narrow bench). Trying to watch TV was like mission impossible. If you got past the “weak or no signal” the only thing that seemed to work was Netflix. No news channels or other channels. Anyway, the TV was small and a long way away that you almost needed binoculars to watch anything.

We booked two different hotels. One before out jungle tour and one after. Spending triple on the after hotel expecting a real new upgraded experience. After the first night at the fancy hotel we were extremely dissappointed because Casa Matara Boutique was such a great experience and extremely affordable that we were disappointed that we didn't book both before and after there. This hotel was clean, the staff extremely friend, and breakfast was made specifically for you, almost as if you were family. We loved the stay and would've been happy of have paid more to stay there.

Everything was more then we expected.

It was in a very good location, 5-10min walk to the main square and other sights. Also it was relatively quiet in the rooms (didn’t have a room facing the street tho). The staff was super friendly and always happy to help.

The only thing I have to say is that the rooms were not thoroughly cleaned. While the important bits (bed; bathroom) were definetly thoroughly cleaned, however the floor, especially the corners and other spots were full of dust. However I must add that the room was overall clean and it didn’t make me uncomfortable. I would just recommend to also clean the parts that are not so easily reached.

The hotel was ideally located and near the main square. Our room was spacious and impeccably clean, with comfortable beds. The staff was exceptionally friendly. Breakfast was delicious, highlighted by the delightful fruit yogurts. When we had early tours, the hotel provided us with breakfast boxes. At the end of our stay, we each received a charming llama keychain as a gift.

The shampoo bottles provided were quite small, and there should have been more toilet paper available.

The staff was really great! Super friendly and helpful. Really cozy hotel. Not just the room but there are hangout areas outside the rooms that are very nice to sit in and have a cup of tea. Close to everything in Cusco. Comfortable beds. Good breakfast. If you are going out early you can get a breakfast to go in a bag. Good AC. Good wifi.

This one is on us. We picked a too small room. If you are going to stay a few days check the size of the room and book a larger one. Otherwise nothing really to complain about.
