We are a queer couple and we were nervous about finding a safe and welcoming place to stay in Peru. The Sonesta Posada proved to be welcoming and exceeded every expectation. We felt comfortable and supported the entire three weeks we were there. The staff were the highlight. They talked with us every day, helped us book taxis at reasonable rates for longer trips, and even surprised my wife (who was studying for her medical boards) with cake and note of encouragement. When we left, they gave us two t-shirts and a painting of the hotel - such a thoughtful gesture. Our room was spacious, had a mini balcony with beautiful mountain views (even though we hadn’t booked a balcony), and the shower had strong, hot water. The Wi-Fi was excellent, which made studying and working easy. Housekeeping was great, room service was quick with good options, and the breakfast buffet had a ton of variety. The grounds were peaceful and well-kept. We studied every morning at the big wooden garden table, surrounded by flowers, with staff often bringing us hot water for tea and asking how studies were going. The hotel is in Yucay which is very close to Urubamba. We are super comfortable using the combis and we could just grab one off the main street in front of the hotel, but we also saw other guests using taxis and vans that the hotel organized for them. Yucay is a great central spot for reaching Ollanta, Calca, Pisac, and Cusco. This was one of the best hotel experiences we’ve ever had. We visit Peru every 2 years and are excited to have found a safe, comfortable home base for future years.

Weddings can be a little loud as other reviewers mentioned, but they aren't every weekend and end around midnight...and the music is always great. We just danced.

Stunning hotel, comfortable beds

One of the couples in my group decided to stay an extra night and they were told they would need to move rooms which they understood and didn’t mind. However on their penultimate day a member of staff decided to ring their room at 7:45am to tell them they needed to move rooms - which they were already aware of! When my friend mentioned it to Stefany at the reception she was just completely ignored. Not ok.

I was pleasantly surprised by this impromptu last-minute stay in the valley during a bout of altitude sickness. The staff was helpful and accommodating, placing me in a room adjacent to the restaurant for easy access to meals. I was spoiled for choice with various in-house eateries, and all the food I tried was exceptional. The beautifully kept lush green grounds were an oasis, and the value for money was excellent. The facilities were more on par with a four-star establishment. I would happily stay there again.

Thank you for a lovely stay! Everyone was kind and welcoming and made us feel at home. They responded to every request we had and made sure every detail was taken care of including helping with a taxi mishap and getting us packed breakfasts for Machu Picchu. We were sad to leave and hope to be back in the future.

We loved everything about it. I cannot wait to return and stay again.

Everything about this property is awesome, from the people to the location to the food. They were very accommodating and helpful. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained. It’s location amongst the activities and sites within the sacred valley is one of the best because it’s more central.

Can’t say I had something that I didn’t like about this property.

The hotel is a hidden gem in the sacred valley. The landscape is beautiful and the room size is big enough. The housekeeping work was great. I enjoyed the taste of breakfast and fresh ingredients. Tried the lunch at Inca Cafe and food was good too. The llamas are walking freely on the lawn and you can take pictures with them.

Staff service, building was beautiful a little alpine like, beautiful gardens, food choices at breakfast and dinner, cosy bar area. Great shower in bathroom.

No tea/coffee making facility in the bedroom, no mini fridge in the bedroom. But there is a coffee shop on-site with lovely outdoor seating area.

Beautiful hotel, combining the old traditional style and modern comfort. The staff was super friendly, patient, helpful at all times! Always with s smile and great attitude

They were extra charges which i was a bit surprised- early check in, opening a bottle of wine, putting on a fire, etc.

The green areas and the room

Breakfast was basic, no options for kids besides the pancakes. The dishes where the fruit and other food was served was not clean, the utensils to serve the food was not clean either. Same at the buffet lunch. It was not clean and took time for the staff to refill the pots and pans with food…

The whole property is beautiful, they thought about every little detail. As a couple with a 8-year old child, it was a perfect choice from every aspect 😊 There are cafes, restaurants and gardens so you can relax and enjoy as much as you can.

The fact that we couldn’t spend more time here 😕
