A family guesthouse that is part of a farm. Warm and friendly attitude, all rooms are spacious, well-equipped, very clean and tastefully decorated. The breakfast is good and satisfying, the delicious dinner is cooked by the owner. The farm also has a winery that produces fine wine. The price is very reasonable.

Excellently located for our tour of the Douro valley and Serra da Estrela, the property was immaculately kept with secure parking for three motorcycles, an excellent dinner in the evening, good breakfast and charming and helpful hosts.

The Casal da Viúva was an amazing place to stay. The hosts are extremely welcoming! We arranged to have dinner there, and the two of them made us a great home-cooked meal. The breakfast spread was excellent. We got to hear stories of wine production in the Doura Valley, got a tour of their personal collection of historical wine making and farming implements, and had a very enjoyable time. Highly recommended!!

Clean and comfortable guest house, quite new and very functional. Excellent hosts, very friendly family happy to give advice on the area. We ate dinner in the kitchen and was excellent on both occasions. Breakfast also very good. Location about 20-30 minutes from lots of vineyards and other things to do. Shared areas are comfortable too.

Great hosts - friendly, knowledgeable of the area and suggested places to see etc. air-conditioned room, comfortable bed . Off street parking for the motorbike. Had wonderful breakfast and dinner both nights - excellent chef! Signage to the property from the N312 was easy to follow. Highly recommend.

The place is lovely, comfortable, welcoming and spotlessly clean. And the hosts were very welcoming, warm and helpful with suggestions. It's very well placed for driving along the Douro valley, and the views all around are amazing.

The hosts were outstanding. Zulmira made sure every need was met and that I felt at home. The property is gorgeous and the room was comfortable and enormous. Immaculately clean and every detail was taken care of. If you stay, be sure to allow them to cook for you. They made the most amazing vegetarian feast for me. Loved my stay and wish I had stayed longer.

Amazing little gem in a tiny Douro town. Dinner was fantastic - about 6 different appies, baked cod, a specialty apple dessert, all prepared fresh for our family and served with a lot of care. Excellent hosts

The owner Luis and wife Zulmira were very helpful, sweet, and charming. Be sure to order the dinner meal it's very good and we ate in the big kitchen at the cozy chef's table. Elegant food in more traditional style but done very well and very inexpensive, cooked by the owner Luis. The breakfast was good with many options and with local fruits and produce. Room was clean and very spacious, bathroom is modern. The location is in a semi-flat area above the steep and scenic the door valley. The location is in an old and tiny village.

The village is very sleepy, no restaurants and only a simple cafe or two. Armamar is close with good roads maybe 10 minutes at most by driving and has a few dining options. Lamego is maybe 20 minutes away with even more options but one need be very careful about selecting roads as it narrow and winding.
