The staff was amazing!! Though the cost is higher than many places, the rooms are comfortable and inviting, and there are many perks such as a huge breakfast and afternoon tea (basically lunch or an early dinner) as well as a free nightcap until 10pm. Very nice extras that keep you engaged in you hotel experience.

Parking was not clear to me even after texts from the staff. Here’s what you need to know. You can fully drive into Largo da Portagem and park in front of the hotel door to unload bags. Then there is some easy parking in a lot across the bridge. Some more challenging parking exists up the medieval hill with narrow road near the hotel. Know your parking before you arrive if you are driving.

Great central location, helpful and smiling staff at the reception. The bed was incredibly comfortable, as were the pillows. There was a kettle in the room and the possibility of making tea. Breakfast was tasty, although limited without hot dishes. Possibility of all-day use of the dining room and terrace on the top floor of the hotel, where there was always coffee, tea available and delicious cake.

The bathroom was beautifully finished, but it was not comfortable to use. There were no towel rails, shelves for private cosmetics. Not to mention that the toilet is visible from the bedroom... This room should at least be behind frosted glass.

I had my doubts about CBR boutique hotel when I booked as the photos do not do it justice. In reality, this is a great place to stay that exceeded expectations. The room and the breakfast areas are really great. Each room is themed as a library and it's one of the most creative room decors we've experienced - a lot of fun. The area with the bed is very spacious and very nicely detailed and with nice lighting, the bed is very comfortable. The entry is through the bath area, which is not a problem. The shower worked really well and the towels were very nice quality. Everything was very clean. The breakfast had lots of options with very well prepared food choices and in a nice space at the top of the hotel with views to the river.

After dropping off bags, parking is across the river. This was only a minor inconvenience as we did not use or need our car during our stay in Coimbra. Most of the main sights for Coimbra are uphill from here - not a problem for us, but for some it might be a challenge.

We absolutely loved our time at CBR Coimbra. Positioned right in the center of the little town, perfect for strolls, dining and enjoying the area. The staff was warm & friendly, we were fortunate to have Joel greet us upon arrival and give us a wonderful orientation to the hotel and city. Joel's knowledge & enthusiasm was only the beginning of learning how wonderful our stay would be. While we have never heard of the Hastens Bed spa, the bed was incredibly comfortable. The hotel attention to detail is evident in the luxurious breakfast and hard working staff. Every inch from lobby to the rooms to the dining rooftop area, were spotless. We saw staff tidying up all the time. The rooftop is a treat, despite the poor weather during our stay, we did manage to enjoy some time up there. I can't imagine staying anywhere else on a visit to Coimbra !

Honestly, there was not one negative aspect of our stay at CBR Boutique Hotel Coimbra... if I had to struggle to find one thing, it would be that the lovely pillows are a bit firmer than we are used to ..but they were interesting and provided a wonderful sleep. Not bad, just different.

The hotel is situated in an excellent location with easy access by taxi from train station. Right on the main pedestrian road with lots of shops and restaurants. The decor of the hotel and rooms is fantastic, with a 'library book' bathroom, an excellent common area for a delicious breakfast, and even a rooftop view area (closed due to rain when we were there). Staff were very friendly, good English, and helpful with check-in. We arrived early (10 AM) but were given our room as it was ready. Thank you!

1. The pillows are like ROCKS! (we weren't the only ones with this issue). No other pillow options were offered. The hotel should invest some money in softer pillows (at least as an option for travelers). 2. One of the window shades (electric) was broken (not the hotel's fault). But it did make the room a bit illuminated at night with some challenges falling asleep. I believe we were in Room 15. But, in fairness, we did not alert the hotel staff of the problem nor did we ask for a room change.

The location is just perfect! Could not be better. The staff was nice, very polite. Especially Carina, always very attentive. Wished me happy bday and brought me a lil cake. The bed is very big and comfy. Very clean!

When we arrived it was over 3:30 p.m., and the room was not ready. Even though the check-in is at 3pm. We had to wait almost another half hour. The note left in my room had another guest's name. The pillows are a bit too hard for my taste. As soon as you enter the room, you see the toilet sink. The toilet has glass door, so... if you are not comfortable enough with the person you are sleeping with, I do NOT recommend. You can even hear their thoughts. NOT sound proof at all.

CBR Coimbra Hotel is a wonderful place to stay — stylish, comfortable, and perfectly located. You can walk everywhere: the historic center, restaurants, shops, and main attractions are all just steps away. The hotel has a unique and charming decor that gives it great character, and the rooms are both clean and beautifully designed. The beds are a dream — incredibly comfy, making it hard to get up in the morning! The staff is super friendly and welcoming, always ready to help with a smile. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Coimbra

Great location-pedestrian street but you can pull up to drop luggage-parking on street around corner or in lot across bridge. Clean and modern rooms, very nice breakfast included on 5th floor with a view to city. Mark and other staff we met were all very helpful and friendly.

A few odd quirks-need more hooks for coats and to hang towels. Heat would go up overnight on thermostat oddly. Our room fridge never got cold-staff said they deliberately set low to conserve energy but couldn’t be cooled down so I had some drinks spoil -very strange.

The room is very cosy, comfortable, very appealing design and it almost feels like a steel for what it offers. It also offers a great breakfast and a balcony that you can use to enjoy your meal while looking at the river/city. It also has a rooftop with the same view. Staff is exceptional, very friendly and welcoming.

Bathroom privacy. It has see through glass, although very beautiful to see as decoration but a little awkward. (if it was tainted or opaque it would be better in my opinion)
