Quite an unique place to stay. Under 10 minute walk from Coimbra-A train station easy to find. Amazing place on entering. Very helpful at reception and I was happy to receive a nice bottle of beer with my key-card. Amazing carpet along thd communal corridor. The wooden floor and walls made the room. Very modern down to the light switches and air conditioning controls. Spacious shower room. It was a damp day outside, about 16c but very warm inside. My room was 24c but the air conditioning brought it down to 18c. Took me a while to figure out how to use the controls but I had been linked up to WhatsApp advice number who would have helped had I needed them. I had a great meal at the adjacent Zero restaurant, where I had breakfast the follow morning.

The location is 2 minutes from the entry to the old town with the university. The University is 15 minutes away on steep climb up. When going down through the botanical garden, the exit is 5 minutes away. The price is acceptable. The room has all you need to stay there for a shower and sleep, and visit the town the rest of day. The room does not have TV and windows, hence called a box. But for me it was all that was needed. I did not take breakfast there. They offer a free beer at the reception. You get a key that allows you to enter at night, when there is no reception.

They only open the rooms at 3 pm, but you can leave the bags for free in a locker there before that. Walk from the bus stop for Flixbus is about 25 minutes away. You can go to the airport for the first flights by taking a shuttle that costs 38 euros and can pick you up at 5 am. It is a van that collects several people in the suburbs of Coimbra from 4 am and finally us from this hotel at 5 am, as we are right in the city center. It takes 1.5 hours to the airport, so you arrive at iarport at 6:40 am. Enough for a flight at 8 am or so.

Genuinely one of the best places we've ever stayed. A free cold beer on arrival is always a great start... :) The lack of windows in the rooms actually aids sleep because light doesn't creep in! The soundproofing is also excellent in the boxes. The shower was fantastic, the beds were comfortable, and the staff were all super-friendly and helpful. The €8 breakfast was worth it too; a good selection of bread, cold meat, cheese and eggs, pastries, cereal and yoghurt. The bar area upstairs is incredibly stylish and spotlessly clean, and all staff members were happy to chat and offer advice.

I would definitely recommend this place. If you like the concept where you are free of unnecessary features then it's the exact place you need! Because out of your room, you can find super-amazing staff (5+ stars), the greatest location (5 stars), good prices, Bixos Restaurant at the top of the hotel (5+ stars), where amazing staff (special thanks to Manuel) will serve great breakfast, lunch and dinner with entertainment on weekends. This is our second time with Zero Box Coimbra and we will definitely stay here again when back to Coimbra.

Road construction is in front of the hotel, but this is temporary.

It was my safe haven after running away from WW hostel. I love the concept, the way I was welcomed as if I was their friend, the bottle of a fresh beer is a plus. I joined a party upstairs then a good shower (the bathroom is amazing) and I slept like a baby. I definitely recommend it and I won't bother looking for somewhere else when I come back to Coimbra. both the night and day receptionists were very kind, I felt at home.

The hotel is very modern and it really feels like the perfect choice for any young traveler. The staff is incredibly kind and even offered us some cold beer as a welcoming gift 🤭 The hotel decorarion is incredibly modern and refreshing, making you feel like you're in an art exhibition more than a hotel. The bed is very comfortable and big for two people, the bathroom comes with everything you need (hand, floor and shower towels; hands, hair and body soaps; body lenght mirror and a smaller mirror). It has a lot of space designated to drop your bags and clothes without making the room clustered as well. The hotel location is great, close to a beautiful side of the city with the river right accross, multiple restaurant options and just a 5 minhte drive away from the main train/bus stations. Sadly we only stayed one night so we didn't get to experience the rest of what the hotel had to offer, the bar is opened until 2AM and seemed very comfortable!

The rooms are very small and exactly like described: box like. They don't have windows which is very clear in all steps of the booking to make sure you are properly aware of that. Naturally, the room is not ventilated and it does get very warm even when it's cold outside and you have to be careful with the shower steam. However this isn't a huge problem since the roomsncome with a good AC!

The rooms are rather small and very poorly lit. If you stay for a couple of days it's fine, but since they are in a basement with no natural or artificial light it may not be comfortable for longer stays. Also there's nothing besides the room, no place to wait, sit around or work with the laptop if needed.

The concept is amazing. Everything is clean and good quality. Staff was great. Love it here, I'm coming back soon

The only 2 negative things I noticed was that I still heard voices outside the door. Meaning that the soundproofing, even if very great compared to other hotels, is still lackluster. And the other thing was that there was a lot of dust in the box where the airconditioning was blowing. So every time I turned it on I felt the sudden increase of dust in the air. That was noticeable enough for me to not give this hotel a 10 but a 9 instead. Still, considering an average score would be a 5, this far exceeded my expectations

This is an amazing place with a special hotel concept. One of the best parts of this hotel is the staff. YOU ARE AMAZING!!! It was our 3rd stay with Zero Box Coimbra and we definitely will go back to this place when we visit Coimbra next time. Also, an amazing restaurant on the rooftop with an amazing staff as well!!!

It's unusual to find no chair in the room, forcing me to sit on the floor. Additionally, the breakfast selection could be improved with a greater variety of dishes.
