Great location and warm, very hospitable staff. Great breakfast in room and lovely welcome snack/drink upon arrival. We were lucky to have the hot tub room which was welcome after a cold, rainy day of sightseeing. The room is a little small but very cozy and well maintained. Parking was fine on the street but beware of the possibility of some very narrow roads if you are using GPS and driving straight to their location. we opted to park on a more distant neighborhood street(free) and walking up the hill with our bags. Plenty of restaurants nearby.

Someone had fun renovating and decorating this old house! The furnishings were certainly unique and chosen for style rather than practicality - mostly they managed both. For instance, the TV doubling as a mirror was a new one to us. The bathtub in the center of the room looked good but I had no particular need for it. The shower worked well but was a little cramped. The bed was great, the wi-fi was good, the a/c worked well. On the top floor, we had 51 stairs to our bed - we were OK with that but prepared! The breakfast, delivered by basket at the time of choice was healthy and fresh but rather lack-luster and the same every day. Parking - I made sure I did not drive on the actual street of the hotel - it looks quite dangerous for non-locals! I parked temporarily on Rua Padre Antonio Vieira for unloading (pay by a machine), then moved to near the church at the top of the hill where, surprisingly, there is no payment. Once finding my spot there, I preferred to walk in Coimbra.
The toilet was cramped.

It really exceeded my expectations. I chose this hotel due to high rating but it does not deserve a 9, it easily deserves a 10! Everyday, they deliver our breakfast in a cute basket. Breakfast is always too much for the two of us as they provide a lot from eggs to bread, milk, juice, etc. I think the amount of breakfast is good for 3-4 people not just two. They clean the room spotless and all staff were very nice and caring. One time, we asked if we could have the breakfast we were not able to eat that morning and they quickly responded and sent the food to us! The room was big and nice. I wish the staffs will be rewarded as they largely contribute on the great experience of the guests in this hotel. The location was great as it is situated at the top of the hill, our room had a very beautiful view of Coimbra. Thank you so much for giving us such a great experience!
Nothing really. Maybe since they serve a lot of food for breakfast, they can minimize the volume and have different food everyday. For instance, bread, ham and cheese can be served today, then tomorrow it's gonna be eggs and cereals and yogurt :) But not a big concern really.

Fun relaxing spot in Coimbra. Liked · The hotel is hidden away but very close to the university and nearby cafes. There is little bar across the street that doesn't look so good but it's a nice place for a drink and not too noisy. It has a lovely view from the back window. The front window looks over the street. Both windows have shutters to block the noise from surrounding area. Fun decor, you might ask for a demo of the hot tub. It's not hard but a little confusing.
Disliked · The hotel is on a very steep hill which are surrounded by steep hills. So, you will get your exercise. Slow and steady win the race.

The staff was wonderful: friendly, responsive, caring. The location was perfect for my needs, which was to go to the university campus each day. The view of Coimbra from the window was breathtaking. The daily breakfast, delivered exactly when requested, was extravagant and delicious. The jacuzzi was so satisfying at the end of the day.
I get why this quirky hotel doesn’t appeal to everyone, but I’ve been in enough forgettable “nice” hotels to appreciate the one-of-a-kind energy here, and I went with the experience and had a wonderful time.

Everything was wonderful, we had a really warm welcome by the staff. The room is exceptional, you feel you are in a chalet/castle room, the design and amenities was perfect, the bed was just perfect very comfortable, the room has AC, an small area with a sofa with a really nice view, the shower is big and very modern but so well integrated with room design. All was very clean and the breakfast is the best, you must experience so. And just when nothing could be better the staff brought a cake to celebrate my birthday with out any advice. Thanks girls for such nice experience! The best staff I have met.
All perfect 🤩

Great discovery. The hotel is located on walking distance from Coimbra center - if you're coming by train, however, you'll need to do some climbing up hills to reach it. I really loved the room decor, and the welcome drink and cake were warmly appreciated. The staff went the extra mile to make us feel welcome. They also provided us with some glutenfree bread for breakfast for my husband after messaging them the day before.
The only minor point of critique I can give - but this is nitpicking - is that you cannot put together your own breakfast. Breakfast came in a cute basked and had plenty of items in it, but there were some things that we didn't touch because we just don't like them and I'm pretty sure some of those they get thrown away after. Perhaps they could let guests fill out a form beforehand to let them choose what items they'd like for breakfast, as I've seen in other hotels?

Don’t be fooled by appearances. It may be a little over the top, but this is a great hotel. It is what I call a fun place to stay and the location is perfect. It is comfortable and pristine clean. The room is roomy. Breakfast is delivered in a basket to your room every morning at your chosen time. There is bread, scrambled eggs, yogurt, fruit, Ham and cheese, coffee, and orange juice, plus butter and jam. The staff are 10+. Always helpful. And trust me you are going to love Coimbra. Go to a Fado performance. You can spend most of a day at the University. Don’t miss the Roman Museum. We found a restaurant we liked so much we ate there 3 days in a row. It is Tapas nas Costas Bistro. This is seriously good food. We were trying to eat everything on the menu. About a 10 minute walk from the hotel.
Absolutely nothing. Would go back in a second.

The hotel and the staff were so wonderful and welcoming. From the welcome drinks to the breakfast brought to the room we felt extremely well taken care of. They even offered to do laundry for us when they saw we were headed to the laundromat. The apartment we stayed in had two bedrooms each with their own bathroom. The design and old charm of the building felt like a fairytale. The hotel is located close to the university and plenty of restaurants which made for lovely day trips on foot. We also enjoyed a beautiful sunset view out the windows of the kitchen. We highly recommend this hotel and would love to visit again in the future!

Everything felt luxurious from the moment we stepped through the front door. Top floor room so the views were fantastic across the city and was well above our expectations. Clean, extravagant and well thought out room that we didn’t want to leave. Could have stayed here forever. Roll top bath in centre of room was a lovely addition and breakfast basket delivered in the morning was above excellent and more than we could eat. Would highly recommended this hotel to anyone
Loved everything about this hotel but just a side note to others it’s up an extremely narrow and single track steep road if your driving and if your not keen on stairs try and request a lower floor room as no lift.
