The owner Grace was over-the-top in providing a wonderful & hospitable 3-day stay. We felt more than welcomed - upon arrival, she oriented us to the city and it’s highlights with a map and provided great recommendations for must-see sites as well as restaurants, which were all excellent. She even made a haircut appointment for me, which was one of the best haircuts I’ve ever had! The daily breakfasts were fresh squeezed juice, a variety of fruits, breads, yogurt, cheeses, sliced meats, & eggs - all delicious and kept us going till dinner time! During breakfast, we enjoyed chatting with the other guests from France, Germany, & the U.S. A very charming downtown home that has been in the family for generations - perfectly cozy!

Nothing other than finding city parking was challenging but Grace helped us find free parking just minutes away!

The República was genuinely a home from home. The house is beautifully and imaginatively decorated with many quirky features, and immaculately clean. The included breakfast was ample, fresh and tasty. As other reviews have mentioned, the hosts – Graça, João and Janet - were incredibly welcoming and helpful. Usually, in seeking to give marks out of ten, one works downwards, reflecting any problems or faults. On this occasion, however, our ever-considerate hosts have saved us the trouble by making our stay totally faultless!

Loved everything about this property. It was the most comfortable rental I have had in Portugal. The rooms were beautifully decorated and so clean and comfortable. Every detail was well thought out. The breakfasts were abundant and included fruits, eggs, meat, cheeses, breads, granola and yogurt. Additionally there was coffee, tea and fresh squeezed orange juice. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful. Janet, one of the staff, was friendly, welcoming and extremely knowledgeable about history and the area. I wished that I could have spent a month in my cozy bedroom with those wonderful breakfasts! I would absolutely stay here again!

Very nice hosts and very good communication all along. Upon arrival, take some 30 min for a generous tour through the house with its many beautiful features and ingenious decoration, as well as many useful explanations about town, where to go and what to see. Very good guest service with open kitchen, fridge, patio and cosy living room, including drinks. Spotlessly clean. Quiet at night although a nightclub is just up the street (and we were there on a Saturday night). Lovely breakfast with homemade marmalade, chocolate cake and eggs. Good beds.

Loved the hospitality of the host (Graca) and the staff (sorry, I forgot her name). Right from the time we reached there till we left, they were very attentive. The lady staff gave very clear instructions on places to see, where to buy tickets, recommendation for restaurants, best way to walk to reach specific destinations, etc. The breakfast was great with a personal touch. Even after our checkout, we could keep our luggage and were also offered tea before we got back on the road for the next destination. Liked a common living room with some drinks left by the hosts for the guests. It makes for a good rest area at the end of the day. The access to the kitchen is also very helpful for those who need it.

A Guest House like no other! It was the second time I stayed at Republica Guest House, and it was as perfect as the first time. It’s for me a sign of excellence, when an accomodation manages to maintain its high quality over time. The room and bathroom are comfortable, clean and spacious. The bedding is really comfortable, and the room gets cleaned up daily. The breakfast is delicious, homemade with fresh and local products. You truly feel at home when at Republica Guest House: the house is arranged with everything you’d need and has a very charming and welcoming atmosphere. Graça and João are one of a kind: they make their very best to make you have a great stay. They are kind, available, welcoming and happy to give recommendations and interesting information about the city. Nothing! Everything was perfect

Graca, the owner is an amazing host. She is so kind and helpful and will do anything to make her guests comfortable. She is very cheerful and is passionate about welcoming guests to her fantastic guest house and the city of Coimbra. The house was from her husband's family, and it has been restored beautifully and with love. The room was very clean, silent, and comfortable. Everything worked perfectly. She even took us to find a free parking spot. Breakfast was fantastic.

This is a true gem of a place. It's a beautiful house, with amazing, spacious and charming rooms, each one with its unique style. It's decorated with a masterful blend of historical and modern touches. It's greatly located within a walking distance to major attractions. Food was delicious, with a great variety of choices and amazing baked goods by the owner. Staff was excellent, very attentive, professional and warms. Both owners - Graca and Joao were very welcoming, hospitable and accommodating - I felt like I was treated as a family. This place exceed all my expectations - it's a rare find. I'll definitely return

Everything was exceptional

The property is located just a short walk away from the old university town. Perfect location if you arrive in Coimbra with your rented vehicle like we did. The very charming guesthouse was the former residence of the owner converted into a 2-level guest house. We were a group of 3 so we booked 2 rooms. The rooms are tastefully decorated and beds are very comfortable. We loved the breakfast also! Graça and her assistant Janet were amazing! They went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Thank you!

Absolutely nothing!

This guest house definitely exceeded our expectations by far. Grace, our host, is such a lovely and supportive person, and treated us as being part of her family. She gave us so many helpful tipps for exploring Coimbra. We had a very cozy room named "Mondego" and breakfast was fantastic. We missed something in the room when we left, and Grace immediately offered her help in forwarding the stuff to our next location in Portugal by parcel service. This property also has wonderful terrace in the backyard of the building, where you can spend relaxed evenings. A selection of wines and coffee, tea, beer, mineral water etc. is free of charge and you can serve yourself.

There is nothing we can think of what could have been better!!!!
