Owner is very friendly and considerate. The room is very clean and comfortable as well. It's small but it's well equipped and has everything you need. There's also a common living room area for those who want more space.

The location was good (very close to the University of Coimbra) but there's a bar right next to the building so it's noisy at night which can bother light sleepers.

Room was in the loft with a velux window overlooking a square that was very noisy with bars overnight. They seemed very anxious about security (warnings about locking the door and reporting intruders) which wasn’t very reassuring Double bed was a bit small and against the wall so one person had to climb out to go to the loo Breakfast was a bit average: lots of packet cakes and brioche but no fresh bread. Some of the items in the fridge looked mouldy/past their best

The location was perfect for me. In the skirts of the university, outside the noise of the touristic area, and in the walking distance of it. The patio was a blessing for siesta ours, breakfast and reading. I really enjoy it. Breakfast was included, which was a plus. Not only that! It was plenty and various fitting any diet, including keto. Thank you all, especially Yago, for making my stay there special. Thank you all for allowing me to use the common areas, including the patio and the kitchen after the checkout while waiting for my lost luggage to be delivered. My girlfriend and I were warmly welcome by a member of the staff who showed us the main areas of the hotel and led us to our room. The building is not far from Coimbra University and seems a bit like a student dormitory so the atmosphere is very informal and relaxing, there are also a small private garden and a shared modern kitchen where you can prepare your own breakfast with products offered by the hotel. Our room was at the last floor and was not so big, but still cozy. The main strength of Despertar Saudade is certainly the unbeatable price.

The building does not have an elevator and this could be a problem in case of travellers with big baggages, but the staff was ready to help in carrying our bags

Location is just great, it is directly on central square. Room was modern and clean. Bathroom clean. Self check in and check out. Great breakfast - again, self-served, but you have everything you need to have a quite a nice breakfast.

Arrival was an issue. I have received a code to open the door by email, but it didnt work. And Phone number on Booking-com was not answering as well. WE had a real trouble to get into the apartment, and got there only with some luck (another lady living there opened a door for us)...

- A lot of storage spaces - We booked a room without breakfast but was surprised to discover a lot of options in the communal living room (including tea, coffee, snacks, fruits, cereals and so on) - the staff was kind enough to prepare the room for us for early check-in

- the blinds didn't fully close so it was not completely dark during the night

More human presence at the Reception please. To provide a contact telephone if the passcode to the door doesn't work or room key has been lost. This will help the international visitors. When open the shower door, it almost hit the shower tap.

Pleasant structure located in a strategic position for those who want to visit the University of Coimbra and the historical centre. The kitchen is well furnished and equipped and also has a pleasant outdoor space. The bathroom was a bit small but absolutely functional. Very comfortable beds. Excellent Wi-Fi signal. The whole structure is well heated

Total lack of staff within the facility. I had not been advised that an access code would be sent to me, by mail, shortly before check-in time. Also our room was not accessible as the key had been left inside with the door closed. We had to wait for the arrival of an employee only after contacting the Booking.com assistance service as the telephone number of the structure was not active.

Very clean, organised, well equipped, excellent staff and practical.

Climb stairs to the 3rd floor. But I took it as my daily exercise 😊

It was all generally good. I am very sensitive to sound and from my room I could hear sound from nearby bars but it was alright. Also, it was a bit disappointing to not have fresh bread for breakfast.
