Nice light and airy room with a great view across to the university. A guest house set up with minimal in-room facilities but access to coffee and tea making in the shared kitchen. Good welcoming staff with good English which helped us. The location was near several great attractions including the uni and the botanical gardens, and we enjoyed the walk down to the river and back which was good for the soul. There were also numerous eating/drinking spots, cafes and convenience stores nearby. Could not fault the room comforts, but there was a shortage of hot water in the morning. We didn’t take the breakfast option at EUR11/head

Nothing you wouldn’t expect from an older refurbished

The room was spacious and kept very clean. The bed was very comfortable. There was a good range of food at breakfast. The location was ideal for reaching the university area, and quiet at night.

Three flights of stairs and no lift could be a challenge for some people. There was a problem with the aircon when I arrived, but that was soon fixed on report. The keypad for entry to the room was not functional, and I had to use a key. These are small things but should be addressed.

Coimbra is a great place to visit and this is a great place to stay in Coimbra. It's easy to get to and you can park in the street. It's quite close to the university and a pleasant walk down to the shops and restaurants and there are buses back up if you don't want the climb. The staff were friendly and helpful and our room on the first floor was spacious and comfortable. It was hot when we arrived but cooled down with the air con. With a fridge, coffee machine and microwave we didn't need the breakfast - the bolos de arroz from one of the downtown pastelarias were delicious. Dinner in Fangas restaurant was also good.

Just about everything! Bright, clean, airy place with wonderful breakfast! Excellent location, near a very good restaurant, Papa’s, and in the university area. Staff very helpful and enabled us to check in right away and set up our twin beds for us in short time! Such a pretty place with interesting decor. Loved the entrance that opened with a code and saved us one level walking up in the evening! Can’t say enough for the staff efforts!

AC didn’t seem to work. Although cool outside at night, we couldn’t open windows easily with shutters closed to keep it dark enough and let in the air. I had a mini fan with me so could sleep well enough. Had to walk up stairs to our room but we had small bags so managed quite well and they offered to help if needed so that was not a negative thing, just something for people to be aware of. If you can manage all the hills around Portugal, this is nothing! Beds are a bit hard but that is typical around Portugal. Some staff had difficulty with English but we managed just fine. Good to learn a few words in Portuguese ahead of time!

The room in the main house on the 1st floor (I believe it’s depicted on the promo picture here on Booking) was perfect. The room was clean and matched the description. I stayed in Casa de Sao Bento for 2 different periods in two different rooms and I liked the room in the adjacent building much less.

I stayed for 1 night, so I didn’t find any flaws in this room (there were some in another room though, as I mentioned in the other review)

Our experience at Casa de Sao Bento was truly delightful. The apartments are tastefully decorated and offer a cozy atmosphere. The location is excellent, situated in a charming neighborhood with easy access to the city's attractions. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure my stay was comfortable. I particularly enjoyed the amenities provided, such as the well-equipped kitchen and comfortable bedding. Overall, Casa de Sao Bento exceeded my expectations and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

I had a very pleasant stay at Casa Sao Bento. The location is very convenient to near the university but far enough from the bar areas around to bar quiet. The aircon was great for the high temperatures in Coimbra during my stay. The room was very clean and had a small kitchen with fridge and sink in case you need it.

This place has a lot of character - the rooms are nice, have AC and are very clean. The staff is friendly, and they also sell artisan donuts. Great location near the park, aqueduct, botanical garden and a plaza. Nice terrace. The view of the prison is actually a plus. From higher floors you can see over the walls. How often do you get that opportunity?!

There's no elevator so the (US) fourth floor is a hike. Some of the beds are extremely hard, but we talked to management and they moved us to a more comfortable one.

This was a last minute stay for us in Coimbra. Great location (we walk alot), very clean and nice staff. Window had a nice view of neighboring homes. They offered a door code to get in if we arrived late, but we made it (no extra charge for late arrival like some other places).

Only a minor item, it was a loft apt with the lower part a little tight on space.

Such a pretty, historic hotel. Very tasteful.

I don’t love the busy street it is on and the street noice at night if your room is facing the street. I was also cold. It was February. Coimbra was in spring and yet the room was not heated.
