The staff were excellent, the location was great, the option of breakfast and a bar open till 10pm was great. But next time, I'll take a lower floor and a suite instead of a dorm (none were available for me this time).
The beds were a little springy for my liking. The street parking (off site) was 5 mins walk away through a very narrow one way road, so do not take a big car to the place. The hotel/hostel does not have an elevator (want apparent or didn't realize while booking) and going up and down 6 flights of stairs with luggage was a little tough for older people. But will I return? FOR SURE!!!

Hard to beat being right next door to the Old Cathedral and several bars and restaurants with a 5 minute walk to the university one way and (if you can manage the steps) the river the other. Triple gazing kept out most of the noise. Big high-ceilinged room and staircases full of character. Very good breakfast with home-made cake every day and very helpful and tolerant staff.
The sliding bathroom door was hanging off but the staff had it fixed within 24 hours. The whole TV system broke down and never worked but no great loss thanks to wi-fi - and no children to keep happy.

You will fall in love with the place and people. Incredible location. It is probably among the few places that meets your expectations in your entire traveller life. It matches in everithing the advertising description, great heritage interpretation of the building that host the hostel, excellent staff in an era of self checking-in when you do all by yourself and just pay for the services, here you will meet a unique staff with great people and language skills and an extra-something that is uniquely theirs. They are all unique as individuals in their way, style and skills and they work as a team. It is the old fashion excellence standard in tourism hostelling (and I am telling you that as someone who teaches that in a tourism HE program). Thank you Cathy, Tatiana, Juan, Eugene and anyone who was behind the scenes. :)
Everithing was perfect

The personnel was amazing. We’ve met three of them and they all spoke perfect english, wery very nice, chill and helped us in finding restaurants, fado concerts and with our bags. Also, the room was quite dark and they immediately gave us a new lamp. Amazing! Also, the toilets were new and clean and, I don’t know why, but I loved the stairs.
Even if we love sports, we wouldn’t have minded a lift to climb all over the third floor. Also, (my bad, I could’ve asked) the pillow was very soft and not very confortable to sleep with. The toilets are in common with the whole floor, but were NEVER busy and very clean and new! I would change the faucet in the toilets, though, I’ve risked to hit it in my sleepy mornings

great location for exploring the old town and university. comfy room. fabulous and interesting old building. it is a combo of individual rooms and hostel accoms. We were in single room. not cheap but nice. has its own bar and snacks for sitting on the patio in the afternoon / evening which was delightful.
breakfast could have been better. parking is hell - ads say accom has parking but it doesn't - they point you to where you might find parking somewhere nearby. Thats ok - but not what we expected.

It’s súper centric and the hotel is in a lovely old building, good value for money. The shower facilities are top notch for privacy. The staff is also super friendly and helpful, they gave some excellent tips on where to go as I had limited time.
The staff told me to come to the hostel by car and they would tell me where the free parking was. However, the roads in the center are almost impossible to pass through with a medium sized car, they are extremely narrow at some points. The free parking itself wasn’t so hard to reach and I could have done so with instructions, but reaching the square where the hostel is, was very difficult, and more because none of the maps (in car and in Google) show viable options as they are not aware of the road situation there. Try to avoid reaching the hostel by car.

Staff was very nice and helpful. Great location, beautiful building.
The first night it was very cold in the room, also in the bathroom cold air was blowing. A bit a cold building, so probably great in summer. The second night they put on the heating in the room for me. The beds are comfy but no curtains around the beds, and no curtains against the windows. The door of the female bathroom didn't close, which was ok in winter, but in summer that hallway leads to a large nice patio, so a lot of people must pass by.....

I love these sort of accommodations that walk the line between hotel and hostel—they tend to have the affordability of a hostel with the attention to detail and beauty of a hotel. Serenata is no exception. We stayed in a six bed dorm, but it also had a nice seating area, a fireplace, and an amazing view of Coimbra's Old Cathedral, which the hostel sits right next to. Our breakfast in the morning was simple and tasty, and check-in, check-out and luggage storage was totally painless. Serenata is right in the heart of Coimbra and I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

The location was overlooking an old cathedral. The location was perfect - couldn't have asked for a better spot in Coimbra. Just down the hill was a restaurant with Fado music, so I had dinner and a Fado show one of the nights. The staff, Joao and Eugene were above and beyond kind and helpful to me, sharing in good conversation and offering me a piece of cake on my journey home. I stayed an extra night because I loved the location, the rooms were spectacular for a hostel, and the old historic building made it the most beautiful hostel I have stayed in so far in my 37 countries of travels. I will definitely come back to stay at Serenata when visiting Coimbra again. I highly recommend it!
Breakfast was not worth getting, because no protein options unless I want to cook eggs myself. Everything else about the hostel exceeded my expectations.

This hostel is wonderful overall. The staff are exceptionally nice and helpful. The building inside is beautiful and has a very interesting history to it. The beds are quite comfortable. The location is perfect and I loved being able to eat breakfast with views of the cathedral right out front. The bathrooms and showers were spacious.
Many of the sinks in the bathroom were not working. The wifi was adequate overall, though it was difficult sometimes to access from within some of the rooms.
