Very well located right off the high street, but high enough and well insulated to be a quiet room. The bed was super comfortable, the room and living space a good size, though the bathroom was tiny. A bonus was the extra toilet by the living area. A very sunny living room and good wifi, helpful when both of us had to spend an afternoon working. The kitchen is equipped but only for occasional coffee making and basic breakfast preparation. There are not enough plates, bowls, cups and mugs or utensils for a longer or cooking stay. There is a dishwasher that felt irrelevant as there were not enough dishes to accumulate and use it. Plus - and that's a positive - although it's an apartment, we were pleasantly surprised that they offer daily room turnaround, so again no need for a dishwasher! Positive of staying in our room on the 3rd floor (also one of the more expensive): Day light and a view + away from traffic noise - it looked like lower rooms had no view or potentially daylight. Negative: no stairs! Be prepared to climb all three flights with your luggage. Considering how much climbing there is to do in Coimbra though, you'll hardly notice. All in all a pleasant stay when visiting Coimbra for a few days.

This property exceeded my expectation, centrally located(a good pastry shop just in front) was very clean with comfortable beds and AC. It has a kitchenette which we didn't have to use as we were there for only one night. It is on a main street but you can comfortably park temporarily on the large sidewalk to drop off luggage etc. There is parking available in a close by shopping center (costs about 10 Euros/day). We had to book two units to accommodate everyone in our group and the room sizes can vary a bit depending what you get. There is an onsite attendant/host available during office hours (9 - 5PM) who can help with anything you may want to know/need. They also allowed us to leave our luggage behind after the checkout and were very responsive to all the queries posed in advance via Booking.com app etc. I highly recommend this place if you are visiting Coimbra - wished we stayed here for another day.
There is no elevator(that is the case in most of Portugal's older town areas) and be prepared to carry your own luggage. If you check-in during the regular hours, probably the attendant can/will help if you need assistance. Otherwise, there is nothing to dislike here.

We couldn’t be happier with our stay at Sophia Studios. The location is absolutely perfect, the place itself is spotless, beautifully decorated, and has the cutest little balcony. But what truly made our experience exceptional was the owner, Ricardo. We arrived by car and unfortunately had a dead battery. Ricardo went above and beyond—he showed up early the next morning to help us jump-start the car, and then personally made sure we were taken care of by sending us to his trusted auto body shop. Thanks to him and Filipe at Auto Espadaneira, our battery was replaced in under 15 minutes, and we were able to continue our trip without any stress. Their kindness, efficiency, and genuine willingness to help completely saved us. We’re forever grateful to both of them—two incredible human beings. Highly, highly recommend staying here. You won’t just find a great place—you’ll be in the best hands.
Nothing.

The studio is compact, and mine was on the third floor. I like both those features. I got exercise going up and down the clean, well-lighted stairwell, and nothing could get lost in the small space. The location was very close to great coffee shops, restaurants. I visited two gardens, and they were easy to find from this location. The bus stop was nearby - with all the construction going on, I worried my walking route to the train station would not work, so took the city bus. The facilities within the apartment are all new. Coimbra seems to be renovating the interiors of its buildings, modernizing, insulating, etc. while retaining the exterior features. Sophia Studios is leading the way.
This is a city problem, not something the Sophia Studios can do on their own. Some people have big motorbikes, and use them to make a lot of noise. The city needs to pass and enforce a noise bylaw.

Sophia Studios is well situated in the center of the city within easy walking distance to all the key attractions including the historical center, the market, and the university. The room was large and bright with a high ceiling and windows that stretched from floor to ceiling. Despite facing the street, the new windows were well sealed and kept out the traffic noises very effectively. It was great to have a fully equipped kitchen that allowed us to make some of our own meals in addition to eating out a some of the many excellent local restaurants. The bed was large and very comfortable. Booking was very easy and the communication and arrival instructions were clear and simple. The staff were every friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. During our stay at Sophia Studios we had the best sleep in two weeks while in Portugal
The entrance way to the property is narrow and the stairs are steep. This is typical of urban properties in Europe. This was not a big deal for us, but for some others with mobility issues this could provide a challenge.

Bed was large and comfy. All necessary facilities..Tea/ coffee maker. Studio, but a good size. Powerful shower with plenty of hot water. Close to city centre. Stepped out of apartment and there. Ricardo was helpful and checked with us everything ok and room maids very helpful and asking if we needed anything.Good A/C
No lift and on top floor. Bit noisy out front ( end of University year) of apartment but had earplugs. This would not put me off using again as a very comfortable, central stay.

I very much liked this studio apartment. One thing that stands out is the help and genuine concern for their residents expressed by the managers. They provided me with detailed info. about where to do my laundry, transfer from the train station, as well as helpful suggestions about sights and shops to visit. The studio, though on the small side, is comfortable and equipped with quality appliances, fixtures, and accessories, like plates and cutlery. I'd say the location is excellent, within easy walking distance of all the sights I wanted to see and within 0.1 miles of a Pingo Doce supermarket. I would definitely stay here again.

The location was excellent--only a 5-10 minute Uber from the train station, close to the uphill hike to the University. to the market, and to many cafes, The staff were outstanding--eager to help and asking if anything else was needed. The studio was newly re-done, exceptionally clean, and modern. Motion lights lit the staircase for safety when returning or leaving in the dark. Each studio has its own temperature control unit. Prior to my stay, the manager always quickly replied to my questions.

Spotless cleaned. Equipped with everything for a comfortable stay. The owners and the staff were very friendly and helpful and reacted immediately to any request.
My studio was on the street side and besides the double windows the noise was not dumped at all, so for people with light sleep it can be a problem. Also, even though extremely clean, I would have preferred less smelly detergents.

The studio was compact but perfectly designed, felt quite new and clean, with everything you could need. Ricardo was very friendly and helpful, even carrying or big case up the 2 flights of stairs! (Worth noting there is no lift.) You can hear sounds from other studios above, but this wasn't a problem over night. The location was perfect and we could walk to all of the main sights, and the bus and the train stations.
A lift would be the icing on the cake!
