The whole place is very pleasantly set up. The view is amazing, and with the "upgraded" room (indeed worth it) you get a balcony over the mountain with lots of space. The staff was all super nice and helpful. The place was built on love and it shows not only on the owners but on everyone working there. The breakfast was pretty great, a good selection for a place this size, and everything that was presented was great quality as well. The hammocks were super pleasant to rest in, there's no shortage of options for quiet moods. I didn't get to try the pool but it had a pretty good size for the number of guests. We were made comfortable to stay in the premises enjoying the views after check-out. I can do nothing but recommend for a get-away if your mind needs rest.

It would've been perfect if the bed was just slightly larger. Other than that, I have no complaints – it was very hard getting there, but that was one us for ignoring the instructions they sent via WhatsApp, which were perfectly clear.

The views are gorgeous across the whole area. It’s a shame there is a tree blocking the perfect view across the water from the villas but it’s still a pretty view. Good selection of old items at breakfast and the option to have eggs. The hot tub was lovely (we went in December so was perfect 40 mins before the evening was finished) Pool looked nice but too cold to go in. Front desk staff very friendly and always happy to help. At the end of a text if you need anything (may be some delays but you always get an answer)

The tables in the breakfast room should be split out more. Most rooms are for two people so having tables of 6 set up seems silly. Unless you’ve come with other couples most people want to enjoy breakfast alone and we had someone moved from another table to be put on a table of 4 with us without the politeness of asking (this was a staff member moving people) was it ok. It would have been but people should always ask in case we were waiting for someone to join us. Roads are narrow so drive carefully especially in busy season

Warm personal welcome. A hand written note wishing my partner a happy 60th & a lovely bottle of read wine. Excellent local knowledge re dining & walks. Bed and linen was of an exceptional quality. Well maintained garden, building, spotlessly clean. Amazing views & tranquility!! Fantastic jacuzzi on the yoga deck. Fresh, well presented breakfast - highly recommended!!! Also you can book your personal time slot in the jacuzzi - very special & thank upu all.

The swimming pool was empty for maintenance repairs during our stay - essential & has to be done some time, but our time in the jacuzzi made up for it!!

Location was amazing and so were the views. As you are high up in the hills you have views of the valley and also the sea on a clear day. We took the junior suite which had a living area and a kitchenette fully equipped and a huge terrace. The facilities are very good with lots of small area to rest and contemplate the views. I also I had an outdoor yoga session organised by the hotel. It was magical. The swimming pool area is superb with a decent size garden to relax and plenty of sun-lounge. The breakfast is really good with plenty of choice and good quality ingredients. The service was very friendly and efficient. Everyone was welcoming and helpful. They helped us with booking restaurants and a packed lunch (if you’re hiking ).

Nothing

Vilafoia is such a lovely gem surrounded by beautiful nature and mountains. You instantly feel welcome here with the calm atmosphere and the very sweet staff. We enjoyed relaxing by the pool and going for walks, especially with the hotel being located near Fóia. While our drive up to the hotel went absolutely fine, I would recommend others have their own car while visiting. This way, the place would be a great base for exploring nearby areas and make it easier to visit restaurants in the evening. Keep in mind that the roads leading to the nearest town (Monchique) - where most restaurants and supermarkets are located - can be busy, and there is no walking path. However, a flashlight did just fine, and we never felt unsafe! The honesty bar at the hotel was brilliant; we really loved that idea.

Nothing bad really, just be prepared to settle down for a bit and enjoy the absolutely most beautiful place in the Algarve (according to us at least). A nice break from the busyness of the coastline. If you don’t like remote and calm places, this is not for you :)

What a gem. We loved the location and views. On the hill just out of Monchique. All 10 rooms have balconies with panoramic views. Our room was big with a large comfortable bed/pillows. The continental breakfast served on the terrace again with lovely views. There is an ‘honesty’ bar which enables you to enjoy a drink after 6; a nice touch. The owners and staff were super nice and friendly. This is a place to treasure.

In truth nothing.

Beautiful grounds. Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff - the most welcoming folks we encountered our whole trip! Staff went out of their way to accommodate our request for a massage (in our room?!), reserve us a phenomenal dinner, and recommend local hot springs.

Directions to the location felt complicated - basically, just map to Monchique and then map to Vilafoia from there. We were grateful for the advice not to follow Google but beyond missing one bad turn Google actually worked pretty well.

Beautifully located on the hills of Monchique with an excellent view of Portimao. The view is specially mesmerizing. You have an excellent access to the Serra de Monchique mountain peak. The breakfast is served on a terrace with nice view and surrounding making you want to sit there for quite a while and enjoy the ambiance. So pleasant that you barely need to get out of the hotel area. Staff are so cool, friendly and helpful and are joyful to interact with.

No tea or coffee facilities in the room. This had to be made in the restaurant & carried up to the room. There is a charge for teas & coffees if wanted outside of the breakfast meal time. The continental breakfast was varied but portion sizes were small. The dividing walls between each balcony are too low for any privacy.

Everything! We loved the stunning location with the view far out to the Atlantic Ocean, our "studio" room was lovely, large and very private with its huge porch and the wonderful breakfast with SO many healthy options. Big thanks to the Owner Michel for creating such a wonderful spot on the planet!

Loved everything, just make sure that you follow their directions that they send to you rather than Map's crazy directions off road!
