Caldas de Monchique is an amazing location, the pool, the garden, the views and the old buildings are so beautiful, and the place is well-maintained. The breakfast is good.

We got a room with a view to a wall and noise from the road above. The airconditioning was noisy and the blanket, that was in the wardrobe, was necessary to keep us warm. I would have preferred and actual duvet and cover, and would recommend either booking a room with a balcony instead or stay in the garden hotel of Hotel Central, same place. The restaurant connected to the hotel could use an upgrade. The staff was polite and friendly, but a bit distant.

We either were very lucky, or we paid more than other guests. We were placed in the suite. Everything you wanted was in there. So clean too! Ok, you had to walk 70 metres to the restaurant for dinner and breakfast, but sat outside in the huge courtyard, being entertained by an excellent guitarist/singer was a most relaxing way to order your after dinner drinks to. Dinner menu slightly limited but buffet breakfast was everything you could imagine.

So many hotels had similar names making a stranger to Caldas de Monchique slightly perplexed. Nobody's fault, of course!

Very nice room with balcony and a huge bathroom. Very comfortable beds. Friendly staff. The room was very low cost because the spa is closed for renovations. Meals in the evening were limited but acceptable given the time of year.

If you have limited mobility, the shower in the bath could be a problem. It’s quite high and the bath is enclosed by the glass screen with a sliding door. There are no grab rails.

Great room overlooking the gorge. Spacious balcony with outdoor furniture. VERY comfortable bed. Large room and large luxurious bathroom. Mini-bar fridge in cupboard and good hanging space. Lots of on-site free parking (but it was out of season). Breakfast was included and it was simple but perfectly OK.

Tea / coffee maker in rooms would really elevate the experience. Maybe even some herbal teas!

Great hotel with great staff. The history of this complex is untold, but can be felled all Around the area. The natural sources of water, the remains that are positioned in the hotel lobby that refer to ancient Roman influence’s, were a big and pleasant surprise. Also the beds are comfortable, rooms clean and the food is top quality. I recommend this hotel.

Bars shut early as quite remote had to drive and the restaurant had very little soul to it so we went out, nothing management can do about that unless they drop the prices but with a captive audience take advantage a bit. But that's a tiny thing to the overall lovely stay. Tea and coffee in room would have been amazing bonus as the bar shut early.

The whole complex looked great along with great lookin pool surrounded by greenery. Also dining area wasnon a small plateau which looks like from vintage movies.

The breakfast could use some more variety (ex. omelette) but the available options were tasty and suficient.

It is a very nice hotel with "european standards" in comparison with many others in the region. The uneven rooms have a view on the small valley formed by the beautiful village. The restaurant is very good and the buffet breakfast is a qualitative continental one. The thermal facilities are only 200 m from the hotel. These are a bit outdated and would need a refurbishment (call for donation from people who don't know what to do with their money) but have the "charm" of the old "sanatoriums". That means we won't stay a day long but 1-2 hours, just the time to taste the sweetness of the Monchique water. We were mid-march and it was really quite. We hope that during the summer it is busier, because this location, the quality of the hotel, the very old and traditional thermal facilities, the beauty of this small village, ... must survive ! The nature all around is just stunning !!! Small detail that can be important : if you travel by bike, the hotel offers a safe small room inside to store it.

Good breakfast, very nice room, parking in front of the door, fantastic bed, very clean and recently refurbished room.

The actual reception is at the Hotel Central which is close but not in the same building. The entrance of this hotel has no cozy atmosphere and is quite neglected. Breakfast is not in the same building. There is no room service and there is not even a water boiler to make tea in the room. The terrace is very sunny and there is no protection to sit outside with ease.

Stunning surroundings, charming historic buildings with modern decor, well-maintained gardens, pool, and exceptional spa. The staff was above and beyond helpful and friendly- and they even upgraded my room free of charge due to a misunderstanding from my booking. Excellent value! The all you can eat dinners are a different theme each night too. Amazing included breakfast! I highly recommend the Central Suites
