Lovely peaceful location in wooded valley with adjacent spa park/running water. Picturest old period buildings in a village atmosphere. Smart decor to bedroom and reception areas.

Walkway adjacent to garden room windows meant that room privacy was compromised. General public should not have access. Restaurant food choice could be improved Not good for unfit / disabled as steep topography and steps to pool. Spa area tired

The location is excellent. The grounds around the hotel are very pleasant for a stroll, and it's quiet. The facilities (thermal spa, restaurant) have seen better days, but they are quite all right. Breakfast was good and well-organized. Recommend trying The Alkaline Bar for a glass of local red wine. For a quick lunch or dinner, recommend a short walk uphill to Cafe Imperio.

Organizing SPA treatments could be streamlined better. An online booking system would have been a good start.

The location and architecture. We didn't try the spa facility. The Christmas Eve buffet and breakfasts were good, the food was all home made and good wholesome food. I would say it is very good homemade food like your Mum would serve up. The water was amazing to bathe in and drink. The beauty of the setting was gorgeous.

The bed was too hard for me so I slept on the sofa bed in the living room which was more comfortable. The bad thing with the resort is knowing where to go to eat, as there is no information posted as to what restaurant is open and reception are poor at answering the phone. For older people taking their luggage in the apartment block with stairs, maybe an issue. Also, people not used to franchise set ups may find this complex confusing with different areas and times for food and drink and no clear information.

Public free parking in the vicinity of the hotel. Friendly staff. Helpful receptionists. Nice breakfast. Clean rooms. Quiet location. Average size outdoor pool. Kids pool. Dinner buffet (traditional Portuguese) with live music.

While the place looks great and is purposed to provide a 5 star experience, there were some hickups during our stay that revealed lack of optimal supervision from the management. We hope they were random incidents. To the management: when you find out that there is something wrong with the kitchen and this has led to a 1-2 hour delay in the orders while 15 tables are still waiting to get served the least you can do is apologize to your customers. Maybe it is better to stick to buffet dinner only, because it seems to work better for both the kitchen and the customers.

no elevator to our room which meant repacking in car to take up small hand luggage; you advertise that it is a thermal hotel, which is misleading since the thermal facilities are completely separate from the hotel. and they are also antiquated.

The location was stunning and it felt like we were staying in a small village, with square and lovely walks within metres of our room. The bar was nice and very reasonably priced. The pool was great !

The cooked breakfasts were poor. Little choice and never warm. The 1692 restaurant was probably the worst place we have eaten in many years. Poor quality food and never warm. A real let down compared to the rest of the hotel. Every customer we talked to agreed. Avoid it !

I love the location. The hotel seems to need beater management. When walking around the premises we noticed a lot of stuff lying around, walls need new paint and all over the place needs to be renovated soon. Besides that our stay was very beautiful. The employees were nice and helpful, the location is amazing and the room was big and comfortable. Also I was very happy with the breakfast.

Firstly, the location is beautiful and the cluster of buildings/rooms around the squares gorgeous. The pool area is also lovely. The hotel has an amazing, cool, shared living area next to an open reception area. Reception staff are lovely, friendly and helpful. Our room was clean, comfortable and relatively spacious but short on sockets. An easy chair in our room would have been nice. Breakfasts were great but we didn’t have dinner in the hotel. There is a bar in the square which sadly closed at 6pm that served great coffee, drinks and lunch style meals, plus a hotel close by that did simple dishes for dinner

Sat on a valley there is this beautiful and peaceful healing spa. Because we booked in low season most of the facilities were just for us. The Garden room was a small cottage with this amazing view to the side hill. The cleanliness is spot on. The bed, the pillows especially were to die for. I’m thinking of asking them the brand because as soon as I sat my head on them I fell asleep in minutes.

Because it was low season the check-in is in another building/ hotel, which is part of the group but was not explicit.

This is a delightful place to stay, very relaxed, very quiet. Staff particularly helpful and interesting, we just loved it and would have stayed on longer if it had not been full for the next few days.

Just one thing was that we found it difficult to find, we went well past it at first and had to come back. I should have phoned them earlier as after a couple of calls they got us on the right track. Perfect English with receptionist and lots of the staff
