Everything! Fabulous location in the heart of the beautiful old town, on a very quiet, almost unused road. The whole place was immaculate, & beautifully kept. The staff were kind, thoughtful & nothing was too much trouble. We had one of the top floor rooms with a spectacular view of the estuary & coastline for miles, totally worth the extra cost. The breakfast was perfect, with a full array of fruit, bread, eggs, ham, cheese & pastries. Just a minutes walk from gorgeous restaurants & very close to the beautiful beach. One of the most stunning beach side towns, & absolutely 5 star accommodation. Cannot recommend enough, would love to go back!

We had such a lovely, relaxing stay at Guarda Rios. The rooms are clean, light and airy. Our bathroom was generously sized with a great shower. The hotel is well located and close to the beaches. They have beach parasols that you can borrow, which saved us buying one. There’s a large variety of great restaurants nearby. Breakfast is a highlight - fruit, eggs, cereals, bread, pastries, meat and cheeses. The breakfast room is really pretty and you can sit indoors or out. Maria and the whole team are so welcoming and kind. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Room was very good, with a great balcony view and a very comfortable bed. Shower / toilet good. Great location - just near the old town and the restaurants and the local river side beach.

No kettle or tea / coffee facilities in the room. Shower walls looked like they had been mouldy and recently cleaned.

Stayed two nights. Very nice little boutique hotel at the heart of Milfontes. In a very nice and quiet area, very close to restaurants and to the river. Free parking available nearby. Staff are very friendly and attentive. They have umbrellas and towels for the beach, which were very useful. The room was spotless, very spacious, and nicely prepared. Room had a huge balcony. We saw no issues during our stay. Would love to come back. Highly recommended.

Very comfortable and exceptionally styled room….a lovely welcome ….very clean …good size bathroom and shower with soft towels…..crisp fresh bedding….cosy pillows…then an easy breakfast with ample choice to take you on your journey….thank you to all staff at Guarda Rios ….an excellent team….making a small hotel very special 💕

The property is really nice just like the photos, the room was very comfortable with a couch, excellent air conditioning and a mini fridge, definitely book one with a balcony or outdoor space if you can, it was so relaxing! The bathroom and shower can’t be beat, the water pressure was excellent. There is free parking a block away so that’s no worry if you come by car. You can walk to the beach and everything in town. The breakfast was very good, staff were friendly and I would absolutely recommend!

Just be aware there’s no elevator, the lovely owner helped with our bags to the second floor! Thank you again!

This is not a 3 star hotel, it deserves at least 4 stars. The room was very clean, cool, and spacious. The balcony was quite nice as well. The curtains offered privacy without sacrificing light. The breakfast was included in our booking and was quite delicious. There were eggs served on demand, a variety of breads and even pastries. The staff were amazing and went above and beyond.

I had a disappointing experience with Booking.com - I didn’t get the room I booked and paid extra for (did not have the outcome of sea view I’d booked) but this was not the fault of the hotel. They already had a long term commitment for the room booking.com allowed me to book and pay for

We had a lovely view from our top-floor balcony. The room was comfortable, the breakfast was excellent, and Maria was really lovely. She even brought a bottle of wine to our room while we were out, after she found out we were there for our anniversary. The location is very convenient, with a great restaurant just a few steps away. There’s lovely hiking along coast (the Rota Vicentina) on both sides of the river, as well as beach activities in numerous places.

The location was wonderful, in a picturesque street near the castle and ferry. The room was nice and there was also a lovely patio for use of guests. Plenty of choice for breakfast including really delicious home made cake, eggs etc. Shower was easy to use and effective, powerful (useful to wash all the sand off!). Hostess gave us really helpful information on buses and where to go, and great restaurant recommendation, very responsive.

This is a remote village so phone data is slow in the area and the house wifi did not work well for us, so it was frustrating to get online and took a long time to wait for things like photographs to download. Plan for only having basic internet use or not much at all - this could be a positive if you want to get away from it all! Not enough sockets in the room if you have multiple gadgets that need charging up.
