After travelling the whole day and being turned away from a poorly advertised adults-only place down the road with my tired 4 year old in tow, I booked a room at Ranfield's 5 minutes before walking through the front door, as the restaurant was closing. I was scared at that point of being a nuisance, but got the warmest welcome to any hotel I've ever stayed at. They sorted out a quick and delicious dinner for both of us and brought it up to the room, which was warm, cozy, beautiful, clean, and stocked with perfect snacks and breakfast foods. The staff were so genuinely kind and fun, I don't even know what to say... I never leave reviews but this experience will always stand out for me. I could go on much longer about how none of this was necessary and how cheerfully everyone went out of their way to make us comfortable. Thank you so much for the wonderful accommodation. It really felt like a life saver!

We stayed the night before my wedding day. The staff were very helpful and helped me carry my things into the room. I had requested early check in which had been granted but the room was still been cleaned when I arrived but they were happy for me to drop my bags off and hang my wedding dress up. We had Sunday dinner in the restaurant and that was absolutely delicious too.
The only negative I have is the lack of breakfast options, especially when we paid £110+ a room. The breakfast hampers were cute but it would of been nice to have a hot option too. Not only that upon checking a day before the rooms had significantly dropped in price by £50.

Location is in a very pretty large village with every amenity you can think of! Parking is close by in a fair priced car park. Brasserie looked lovely but didn't have time to eat there. Our room was great with lovely en suite. Hot room but fan helped. Nicely decorated. Comfortable bed with helpful USB socket. Excellent tea and coffee making facilities with Tassimo machine and fresh milk in the silent mini fridge so well done! Lovely stocked fridge with fresh OJ, fruit bowl, Greek yoghurt and water including Freddo Frogs. Nice touch. The complimentary breakfast hamper was great and very much appreciated including the porridge pots. All the staff were lovely and received a warm welcome from Angel, who showed us to our room and was so very helpful. Wanted to book a nice place to stay over as we were seeing Duran Duran at Chelmsford Racecourse 7 miles away. Made a weekend of it.
All pleasant and very comfortable.

The breakfast hamper was good but could include something savoury as well, not just sweet foods, in order to satisfy all tastes. The room was very clean as were the facilities. The location was fine considering we had someone coming to collect us from the railway station and also taking us back and forth from the wedding venue we were travelling to. Not having a car makes this a must so that must be taken into consideration. The town is lovely and full of historic buildings so would be worth a visit again.
Lovely bedding but personally I prefer a firmer mattress. The bedside lamp didn't work and even though I tried and tried, couldn't get live tv on the telly. There was some noise from something that seemed like a laundry room close by. The key that was given to me to enter the hotel didn't work at all and this was reported to the person at reception and I think this was a common problem so that would need looking into. Luckily I was with two friends and out of the three of us, one of our keys worked so it had to be theirs to let us in whenever we needed to get in.

I didn't know but apparently Michael came used to own the building! I felt so special,, because there was a confusion with the rooms slightly.. I received an upgrade,, the lady mentioned I was able to have a free drink.. there was a picnic hamper provided in the room.. so the room did come with 🥐
The things that I noticed that could be improved in the rooms was,, the room was so big though the bathroom wasn't the WC could come out to where the chairs where situated.. pop a bath in it and the rooms could also be a family room.. and the lighting to be fitted to light up the whole,, it was a bit dim,, the reason why I marked the stay down because it got to the time of leaving.. I was just to get on to transport I closed the room door the previous 🌃 and got locked in.. and I had to pay £45.00 for a taxi all the way home.. I ended up missing the transport, I'm so sorry but never had this happen before.

The location and proximity to family (in Halstead) is fabulous for us, as well as being just upstairs from a fantastic Brasserie which we also love! Some of the best dishes we have ever tasted and we are seasoned travellers and frequenters of nice eateries, both for work and pleasure :) Decor is pleasant and the in-room breakfast is just perfect as this means guests are not disturbed and can remain in their PJs :) For the area, in our opinion, this is the best place to stay!
Nothing really. If I was being really picky I would suggest putting a hook behind both doors in room 4 to place wet towels or winter coats etc. Also, ensuring there are decaf pods in the room for the coffee machine (we love coffee but do not drink caffeinated drinks).

A charming room. Well equipped and comfortable. Very well maintained. A friendly welcome. Great location in town centre. We were on the ground level but that was not a problem. The in room breakfast was thoughtfully put together. Thought the little fridge containing fresh milk, yoghurt, and orange juice was excellent and unexpected.
Fine for an overnight stay. There was not a lot of storage for clothes if you were staying for any length of time.

The rooms are at an excellent location in the heart of Coggeshall. The Brasserie is next door and the food is simply fantastic. Parking is either right outside on the road or in the public carpark a 60-second walk away. The corner shop and two village pubs are also within a 60-second walk. A great location to base yourself if you need to spend a few days in this corner of Essex. Also, it's only a 30-minute drive back to the carhire village at Stansted airport.

Nice location , private, well appointed and good and thoughtful details within the room as well as delightful decor. Breakfast buffet and contents of fridge lovely although a 2nd chair and small table would have been a little easier for eating. Great idea though and very generous.
Quite cold as no heating at all. Tried to contact number given for assistance and mentioned to a member of Brasserie staff but it was not rectified. Slept in socks and sweater.

Nice staff. Angel working behind the bar was friendly and helpful. My room was lovely, warm and comfortable. Spotlessly clean and serviced every day. The free breakfast and mini fridge was a nice touch. Some nice pubs and takeaways in the vicinity. Parking isn’t great though! Be careful of the market Thursday morning otherwise your car gets blocked in!
