A stunning 400+ year-old house at the end of a track in the most quiet and peaceful of rural locations surrounded by open country and wonderful woodlands, yet less than 5 miles from Colchester. Mine was a 3 night bed-only stay. This was fine as an excellent dining/breakfast room was available for DIY breakfast if required. The landlady was charming: very professional, friendly and helpful without being at all intrusive. The room and shared bathroom were immaculately clean and the bed very comfortable...and you could sleep in peace with the windows open and not hear the roar of traffic. Excellent.

Located in the countryside. Very quiet and peaceful. Access to en-suite room directly from outside. Very friendly and experienced host who had most things spot on.

Didn’t offer breakfast. Missed the company of other residents. Shower had little water flow as all electric (but it worked well).

Very quiet location and exceptional owners The property is what looks like a Tudor built home with some fantastic features. The parrot is just brilliant as you goto work in the morning “Hello”

The only thing really was the bed, a bit springy but still managed a great nights sleep

Lovely old farm house with amazing beams, clean comfortable and welcoming, super friendly owners would highly recommend and will definitely return

The only down side was understandably in the current living crisis the owner had put the price up by £10 which was the price of breakfast and as a result breakfast wasn't available and the owner didn't really want to do it even though I did offer to pay, but I was offered free tea and toast (bonus) even so it would have been nice if booking com had made this known..

It was very clean, quiet and close to the local Hotel for dinner. The host was lovely and welcoming.

We could feel the springs in the mattress. It would have been good to have a blanket and sheet option as the quilt was very hot for us. The kettle boiled stopped and repeated this before we had to turn it off. We could not find a hairdryer. Mostly little things but we still enjoyed our stay.

There was not supposed to be breakfast but Julie give us lovely rolls with very tasty ham on Christmas morning. A very clean and comfortable property

Nothing really, on-suite facilities are always a bonus but we can understand why that was not possible. A lovely place in the countryside.

I liked everything including the history of the 1650 cottage and the owner was very hospitable. I like the environment and when I'm around the area again, I will rebook the space.

Bottle of water came appreciated after a day of cycling. Great shower. All super clean and cosy. A very welcoming owner.

When I booked a Bed&Breakfast I was expecting a breakfast. Nevertheless it was clearly mentioned breakfast is not included when booking, so perhaps it's just the name that is slightly misleading.

the location was absolutely perfect, at the edge of the woods. It gave the room a wonderful view and made for optimum rest. The host went out of her way to be helpful and altogether it was an exceptional time.
