- Quiet and very comfortable hotel. Not too crowdy with too many customers. - Food was delicious from breakfast, lunch and diner. Many choice are proposed for breakfast and qualitative dishes. Zuchini soup was one of the best I've ever eat. Living in Dar for now 3 months, I was happy withe the diner on Saturday (Rösti and Pork Fricassé Züricher Art). - Direct access to the beach and it's a very quiet one, not crowdy with tourists. - Beautiful view from the rooms at the first floor with ocean view. - Big plus to hear the sound of the ocean from your room. You will get a good sleep

Nothing in the hotel. Just one tip when you're traveling alone as a girl. Masai are very friendly but they insist a lot when they see a girl alone walking the beach. Take with you a ring and turn it on your finger. Say then that you married and they will let you walk quietly

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Zoi. From the moment we arrived, we felt warmly welcomed and truly cared for throughout our visit. This is not just a beautiful hotel — it's a place filled with heart, and that’s thanks to the wonderful people there. Ayesha was exceptional, warm, gracious, and always making sure we felt at home. Her attention to detail and kindness made such a difference and set the tone for our entire stay. Ester, was always bright, cheerful, and attentive. Her excellent service is appreciated. Lusekelo aka President, was polite, professional, and friendly — nothing was ever too much trouble for him. Ibrahim also provided fantastic service with his gentle manner and readiness to help, making sure we were comfortable and well looked after. The meals themselves were consistently wonderful, thanks to Khadija, the head chef. Every dish was fresh, delicious, and prepared with real care — you could taste the Zanzibari love in every bite. AbdulRehman, the hotel manager, deserves high praise for his calm, professional leadership and his dedication to guest satisfaction. He ensured that all of our requests — big and small — were met quickly and with a smile, making our stay as smooth and enjoyable as possible. Nice, who checked us in, gave us such a warm welcome. She was efficient, friendly, and made the whole arrival process feel easy and pleasant. She went out of her way to ensure we were comfortable during our stay. A special thank you to Mr George, the owner, a truly wonderful host. He is friendly, approachable, and creates an atmosphere where you feel like you are staying with family. His warmth and care for guests are genuinely showcased. Apart from the amazing staff, the rooms were spacious, clean, and very comfortable, with excellent daily housekeeping. Access to the beach was perfect — easy and convenient, making it effortless to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

**A Perfect Stay – We’ll Definitely Be Back!** We absolutely loved our stay at Zanzibar Retreat Hotel! From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. Nice, the receptionist, warmly welcomed us and generously upgraded our room from a Garden View (which looked lovely) to a stunning Ocean View Room, since it was low season. We also received complimentary welcome drinks – a thoughtful touch. The food was outstanding every single night, and the staff made our experience even better. Special thanks to Lusekelo, Atanasi, and Hussein for being incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely warm throughout our stay. The location is unbeatable – Matemwe Beach was by far the best we visited during our trip (and we had stayed at both Bwejuu and Jambiani). It’s peaceful, immaculately clean, and boasts endless stretches of white sand. The hotel itself is cosy yet spacious, with plenty of relaxing spots including hammocks, loungers, and a clean pool. The overall atmosphere was tranquil and inviting – the perfect end to our Zanzibar trip. Highly recommended, and we’ll definitely return.

I loved how clean the property is, the spacious rooms,comfortable bed, kind staff, the straw hats and bags they give you to use throughtout your stay, masala chips and great free yummy breakfast! The views were stunning and location is central too which was a bonus! Food and drinks were a 10! Dinner was yummy and not overpriced! Special mention of Nice the lovely lady who checked me in 6 hours early gor free!! Newton was incredible through out my stay and went above and beyond to make sure l had nice photos! The pool was lovely and clean but l didnt use it as l used the beach instead! They arrange tours although booking outside might be cheaper! The best staff were Norman, Nice, Lucy and shout out to Abdull the operations manager for always checking in on me! l will definately stay here again.

We stayed in this hotel for 6 nights. We absolutely loved every part of our stay. We had the feeling that all employees are happy and satisfied, which made our stay especially enjoyable. The location was great and we loved our morning and evening walks on the beach. The food was the best we had during our entire Tanzania trip. Huge compliment to the chef, he's really talented. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Loved the little book corner with the games and the afternoon cake and coffee! The owners are very friendly and welcoming and often came by for a chat. Thank you for this beautiful memory!

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, even arranging for my bag to be sent to Nungwi for me. Quiet and peaceful atmosphere, without any loud music, making it truly relaxing. Nice pool area and the beachfront location added to the experience without any outside interruptions, as no vendors could enter the hotel’s designated space. They also provided beach and pool toys, which was a nice touch. Comfortable rooms with AC. The restaurant served delicious food and drinks as well.

A beautiful , rustic , quiet property . This place really is a gem in a beautiful part of Zanzibar . I was alone for most of my stay and I felt very safe . Very clean ,great pool , right on the beach with amazing dinner on the half board option . Also big thanks to the beautiful Salome for always taking time to speak with me . If I had to fault something it would be that there is a guideline for families with children , there were some very well behaved children there , but kids being kids they were jumping and screaming into the pool every 2 minutes , it just took away from the retreat experience for a few hours . Just a little something but overall total bliss .

We truly had a wonderful relaxing stay at this hotel. The staff is great, very kind and helped us planning the activities to do around the island. The food at the restaurant is really delicious. We had dinner there everyday, each meal exceeded our expectations! A special mention goes also to the mid-afternoon coffee/tea with homemade pastry. Last but not least, the location. The amazing Matemwe beach is just a few steps from the rooms and the pool is simply great. We enjoyed so much swimming in the pool every evening. We really recommend this hotel! Awesome pool side, food was very tasty and the portions were really big

Cleanliness of the whole hotel has to be improved. Felt like the rooms were not being cleaned as it had to be (compared to the other places that we stayed in). However, after talking to the management, the situation has changed a bit, but after a couple of days, we felt like it was going back to the same level as we arrived. The internet connection was not as good as in the other hotels

Extrodinary accomodating and engaging personel. We percieved most of the staff engaged and being on their toes to deliver on a high standard. Clean and well looked after establishment with a sense of pride. The kitchen delivered high standard from breakfast through lunch to dinner. The location just on the beach made the experience even better. The owners and managers where so Nice and attentive which gave our stay a personal and friendly touch. Highly recommended.
