I loved the design and layout of the hotel. It is bright, modern and airy. The view on entering the lobby is just stunning. I stayed in one of the superior rooms and the balcony view looking out over the sea was wonderful. The location is high up and the view out of the sea is breathtaking. The staff were kind, friendly and attentive. They were genuinely interested in making my stay truly memorable. A special mention to lovely Rashmi for being so kind and informative, and a huge thank you to Kavinga for his wonderful cocktails!

We’ve just returned from a second, 2 week trip to Sri Lanka & spent 6 of those days at the wonderful boutique Agnus Hotel. Our room was clean, well equipped & comfortable, the hot water does take a bit of forethought though. The food was great especially if you eat from the Sri Lankan section of the menu. They do drinks very well, be aware there’s an inclusive 10% service charge included. The hotel provides a free Tuk Tuk service to Jungle Beach which includes a beach towel & a bottle of water. The roof top bar, balcony & pool give uninterrupted views of the bay & has ample seating & very comfortable sun beds with cushions & towels. The small retinue of staff though are off the chart, I cannot praise them highly enough. Front of house, poolside, housekeeping, waiting on & reception staff where incredible & that in itself is worth a return visit alone. Thank you everyone at Agnes for a wonderful & memorable holiday 5 ⭐️

Excellent hotel. Absolutely beautiful. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff that made us feel so welcome. Food was delicious, we had breakfast every morning and it was the best we've had in Sri Lanka. The scenery from all parts of the hotel is Wonderful. The pool is gorgeous and the rooftop bar is great. We enjoyed live music on the Saturday night which was great. We can not say enough good things about this hotel. It was our longest stay in Sri Lanka (5 nights) and we wish we didn't have to leave. The hotel has everything you need but if you do want to explore Jungle beach (free shuttle from hotel), Galle or Unawatuna it is just a short tuk tuk ride away and costs less than a couple of dollars each way. Definitely 10/10 and would highly recommend to anyone coming here.

A little slice of paradise! Firstly, every single member of staff who works here were incredible. So friendly, lovely and helpful and they were so nice with my little boy. The hotel is beautiful! We had room 6 which had panoramic views from jungle beach to Galle fort. So beautiful and perfect for watching the sunset. The room was really modern, clean and comfortable and plenty of space and nice touches. The infinity pool on the roof was beautiful, amazing views - especially at sunset! Breakfast is amazing! 4 courses every morning. In fact all of the food is delicious, we had half the menu and it was all amazing, especially the Sri Lankan currys and homemade ice cream. One night they had a bbq on the roof top for sunset which was so good, as well as an amazing singer. The location and views were perfect. Free tuktuk to jungle beach and back which is the best beach for swimming, lovely food and great little boat trips. The spa was also so good and the ladies that came were brilliant. I’m running out of adjectives now but book this hotel, you will not regret it!

Beautiful view, but breakfast was disappointing The hotel is wonderfully located on a hill with a stunning ocean view – definitely the main highlight. The room was clean and fragrant, the staff were very kind, and the rooftop pool added a great touch for relaxation. However, the breakfast was a major letdown. The continental breakfast included yogurt, oats, two slices of rubbery ham, three crackers, and chickpeas in ketchup. For the Sri Lankan breakfast (which had to be ordered a day in advance), we received only a green soup and a small bowl of beans with coconut. Out of the seven accommodations we stayed at during our trip in Sri Lanka, this was by far the weakest breakfast offering.

Wow, an incredible stay. The pool was beautiful, and the sunsets from the rooftop are incredible! 10 min walk to Jungle Beach or they do a free shuttle. Unawatuna beach is 5 min tuktuk away, Galle fort around 15 mins. Totally worth being up on this tranquil cliff out the way of the busy beach areas. The staff were so lovely and helpful, offered a refreshing welcome drink and we checked out early to get the train and they packed us a breakfast. The menus are extensive and the drinks were the best I’ve had in Sri Lanka! The room was beautiful, we had a corner room with 180 views and a balcony! While it’s slightly more expensive than other hotels, its absolutely worth it and looks even better in person.

The hotel is on a hillside, which is a tuk tuk ride away from everything. This wasn't an issue for us as it meant it was quiet and peaceful at night and we could get a proper sleep. The tuk tuk into Unawatuna is less than £3 and to Galle less than £5 so definitely worth the effort. The staff are extremely friendly and the pool area is lovely with chillout music playing in the background. The food variety is very good and the kottu roti was a particular favourite of mine.

The breakfast options are decent but the kitchen staff need to work on their timings as the toast was warm bread toasted on 1 side and it was brought out too quickly prior to the cooked breakfast. Very minor but meant a lot of food was wasted as it was cold and inedible.

Great location. View from restaurant and bar is great. Free tuk tuk to the beach is very convenient. Food at the restaurant is great. Desert was average. Apple crumble was very cold and soggy. I did ask about whether it should be warm, as this is typical, but they informed me it was meant to be cold.

Unfortunately when we stayed they couldn’t serve us alcohol outside of our rooms due to not having an updated license. This was really disappointed to not be able to have a beer while watching the sunset.

We enjoyed our stay at Agnus so much that we didn’t leave !!! We were going to visit Galle for the evening but stayed and enjoyed cocktails at sunset beside the pool and a delicious dinner at the in house restaurant. There was plenty to choose from, Delicious Sri Lankan curry and European for my teenage son. From the warm welcome to the stunning views we were really blown away. The manager went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect - Thank you. The pool bar tender was lovely and made delicious cocktails. The roof top infinity pool was stunning and the boutique nature of the hotel made our stay feel special. Our corner room had spectacular views of the Ocean and the room was clean and tidy, with a nice tiled bathroom. I highly recommend Agnus for an enjoyable place to stay.
