such a cute farmhouse and similar to a motel you will be staying around the courtyard. Former stables with nice wood beam ceilings. The bathroom was newly renovated and very nice. The bed very comfortable and both sheets and towels excellent quality (I love that when traveling). What blew me away was the breakfast in the old farmhouse kitchen- just lovely, the fruit bowl with strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and banana such a treat!
Not ideal when you’re on foot. I don’t mind walking up a hill for 15 minutes but the road leading up is insanely busy, with trucks and cars belting past incessantly. The accommodation itself is off the road and VERY quiet!

Hosts were very welcoming and amenable letting us park earlier than checkin . Parking was a priority for us. Very clean albeit a small room and small shower room but fine for our one night stay, and in walking distance of the town ( not the nicest side of Buxton ) . Breakfast was amazing lots of choice and there are plenty of bars and restaurants in the town that you can walk to ( about 15/20 leisurely walk ) or short car / taxi drive away and there is parking in the town.
nothing to not like really. the location is nearer to A6 than we anticipated and it being in the hot spell and therefore the windows open wide you could hear the traffic noise from the main road . We were only staying for one night so the small room and bathroom was fine for us. I am sure there are larger ones available for maybe longer stays or if requested for mobility etc .

Paul and Sarah could not have been better hosts. They were attentive and supportive without being at all overbearing. The breakfast was first rate, a range of options were available including fresh fruit. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious and the ensuite bathroom, spotless and functioned perfectly. I would certainly stay there again if visiting Buxton and the surrounding area. Unfortunately our trip was marred by a motorcycle accident, and Paul and Sarah could not have been kinder or more supportive, including offering very practical help that enabled me to limp back home safely.
There was nothing we didn't like about the guest house.

We received a friendly welcome and nothing was any trouble. The room was spotless, beautiful and spacious and had a good selection of hot drink options. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds we have slept in. The shower gel and shampoo, in the immaculate bathroom, was a really nice and unexpected touch. The choice at breakfast was amazing, with cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt, toast and a choice of cooked breakfast items. The hot breakfast was cooked to perfection! Our hosts were a pleasure to meet, as were their two dogs, Archie and Dudley - such characters! We would not hesitate to stay here again.
Leaving!

Very welcoming friendly hosts, shared history of the house and provided local knowledge. Room was clean, comfortable and cosy. Especially liked the little patio area and parking in the courtyard. Breakfast was amazing, loved the fruit bowl and Greek yoghurt starter before a full cooked breakfast! Oat pancake was a first, delicious. Would definitely recommend staying here. We went to Buxton Opera House in the evening, ate locally. Some really good options around the centre. Walked into town 20mins, taxi back £4.20 bargain. Pavilion gardens this morning after checking out, there was a Rotary fete so a lot going on which was great and we also had a lovely walk round.
Nothing.

the accomodation was to a really high standard and the hosts have thought about all the little things that matter in our room. the hosts welcome was lovely and informative, local info, reliable taxis where to eat. parking is safe and secure no worries there. the breakfast was absolutely wonderful they offered freshly prepared fruit bowls, then the usual juices, cereals and a cooked to order local breakfast menu. Everything here is high quality and I would definitely recommend staying here. they have various accomodations from BnB to self catering, all a short walk or small taxi ride from Buxton town centre or the wider area for exploring.

Our room was really clean, comfortable and very well renovated. It was a delight to stay at an historic accommodation dating back to the 1500’s. The breakfast including cereals, yoghurt, anything up to a delicious full English breakfast, a delicious bowl of fresh fruit was so well prepared. And special note to the wonderful friendly and helpful hospitality provided by Paul and his wife. Apologies for not remembering her name - I’m a senior, senior! As per the title if my review, when it comes to rating the stay. 15 plus out of 10!
Absolutely nothing.

Loved the historical look and feel of the property. It was nice and quiet and the breakfast was amazing especially the oatcakes filled with cheese! The hosts are a lovely couple and were very accommodating.
Our B&B room was very quaint but a little tight to move around. We thought that the bulky lounge was much too big and would be better removed and replaced with two smaller chairs. There was no bar fridge which we know is not unusual in the UK but it would have topped off a great stay if one was included.q

We loved the history behind Hawthorn and well the owners knew about the property. We loved the breakfast that was included in the price, everything was cooked to perfection and the service was amazing. The owners were very well prepared for any questions we had about the area and places we could visit. The owners made us feel very welcome and the best part was bringing our dog along. We will definitely be back to stay.
Nothing, hawthorn is exactly the type of place we like to stay
