Lodge on the Desert is no cookie-cutter hotel. It has beautiful southwestern-inspired details, a fireplace in the room (not that we needed it with a temperature of 103!), a nice balcony off the room, quaint 8-room clusters tucked among wandering paths and flowering plants. The room was large, quiet, and impeccably clean with plenty of hot water for the shower. Loved the bed, sheets, and thick, fluffy towels. The pet area was grassy and nicely cared for, a bonus for our dog who isn't used to doing her business on desert sand. The on-site restaurant had a great menu, and the margaritas hit the spot after 600+ miles on I-10! It was like being at a resort!

We wish we had known how nice Lodge on the Desert was while planning our trip so we could have booked another night! We were really disappointed we had to leave!

The hotel has so much old west Sonoran (hope I'm using the right term) charm. It is a gem that is well cared for, the grounds are perfectly groomed, and the rooms are beautiful. Beds and pillows are so comfortable.

I wouldn't call this a dislike, but I wasn't aware that if a guest is staying in an upstairs room., the ony way to get up there is a staircase. The hotel was built before the days of elevators. My husband had an outpatient procedure at the hospital so it was scary having him try to go upstairs afterwards. Luckily everything worked out and the hotel would've switched our room had we asked. Just make sure if you are older or have heavy luggage, stay on the first floor.

Lodge on the Desert was absolutely beautiful. The landscaping was gorgeous, and the rooms have so much charm and character. We saw so many beautiful birds when walking around the grounds! I loved the metal statues of the local wildlife. While the Lodge is in the middle of a relatively busy area in Tucson, it feels remote and safe. The restaurant was a nice option. The pool was beautiful (it's heated, but it was December, so a bit too chilly to swim for me!) Our room was a king room with a fireplace and was so cozy and charming! I especially loved the copper sink and painted tiles in the bathroom. Very nice, large shower, too. The mattress was comfortable & the fireplace was a nice perk! Overall, we would most definitely stay here again! It was a beautiful place. Be sure to check out the history of the Lodge when you check in (there are photos & info in the lobby).

One thing to be aware of is that their internet on site isn't great. I had to work there and the connection was quite slow. I didn't deduct that from my rating, though, because nowhere did they mention having high speed internet or a business center, so that was my oversight. The only reason that I didn't give them 10 stars is that it's not a great place to choose if you want to sleep in. I assume it's specific to certain rooms, but we were woken up around 6 each morning with what sounded like the (very loud) closing of dumpster lids, and the sound of carts rolling. This was never an issue at night, though. It worked for us because we had to be up early, but it is good to keep in mind.

The Mexican-inspired rooms and grounds are perfect for a Tucson stay. The landscaping is pleasant with meandering paths through many varieties of cacti. It's right in the middle of town and wonderful restaurants, yet because of high walls around the grounds, it feels like you are further out in the desert. Our simple king room was very roomy; it had a comfy swivel chair and one at a desk. The towels were thick and fluffy and the bed incredibly comfortable. I loved the Mexican-inspired ambiance.

Wifi was iffy during our stay, and for me, at 5-foot tall, the sink (a beautiful copper basin surrounded by Mexican tiles) was too high.

I enjoyed the beautiful landscaping and the fun walking paths, which made it easy to spot local plants and lizards. While nothing about the property stood out as exceptional, it was comfortable and pleasant overall.

The layout of the property felt a bit inconvenient, with parking farther from my room in the back corner—especially challenging when carrying luggage in the heat. The air conditioning could have been stronger, and the bathrooms tended to stay warm.

Second time staying here. We always enjoy it. Clean rooms with soft, comfortable beds. Property has a lot of character. Nice neighborhood with cute residential areas immediately around the hotel if you're one to go for walks like us. Plenty of good restaurants very close. We didn't eat at the hotel restaurant, but had cocktails every night relaxing poolside. Housekeeping and front desk staff were friendly and kind. We will definitely continue coming back!

Check in was great and we were pleasantly surprised with the size of the room for a family of 4. It was very spacious. The grounds are lovely, and the hotel is in a quiet location. We were super impressed with the restaurant at the lodge. The food and service was great. The pool area was also very nice. Great proximity to downtown and the national park.

Upon arriving in our room, housekeeping barely refreshed the room with towels (1 towel for a family of 4) and there was no hand soap in the room and the shampoo was empty. These were all easily corrected by visiting the front desk, but it seemed like we were checked into a room that wasn't quite ready.

Everything about our stay was phenomenal! Checking in was a breeze and the hotel staff were super nice and friendly and you get a complementary bag of ice upon check-in! The grounds were clean and beautiful, and you really did feel like you were at a resort on vacation and not in the desert. The beds were comfortable. The pillows are amazing. Pets can stay there. They have a cactus garden. I can’t say enough good things about this place!

I guess the only negative thing I would say is that we never found a vending machine, but that’s kind of minor.

Great location not too far from the University where I was working on a 12 day visit. There is shopping nearby. Very clean and well serviced and maintained. Quiet! Excellent housekeeping. Spacious and relaxing room. Good bed with firm mattress! Really felt like home rather than some generic hotel.

Really, no issues.

The rooms were large and clean. The restaurant located on the property was nice.

Maintenance: The door lock to my room often did not open on the first try, several attempts were required. The deadbolt lock got stuck in the open position when I was leaving my room and I had to call maintenance. Communication: I checked in late on my arrival and had to find security to get into my room. I was not told breakfast came with my room and that it was only available from 7:00 - 10:00. When I went to the front desk the first morning after my arrival, I was informed about breakfast but unfortunately had just missed it.
