I know that this goes against current trend, but I like a carpeted room. Our mattress was just about perfect and made for a good nights sleep. This is one of the last "mom and pop" motels, and I enjoyed the character and history of the place. The owner/manager is a great guy.
There's traffic noise, mostly during commute hours. There are a few things to repair in the bathroom having to do with water pressure, but I was assured that it's on the schedule beginning in October, 2023.

The Rainbow Lodge is a classic motor lodge built during the time when travelling by car on two lane highways was an adventure. It has most of the modern amenities without sacrificing the charms of those earlier days. The motel is a family owned business that the current owners have had for the last 25 years. Pride in ownership shows as the ground are well maintained and landscaped and the staff is constantly working to maintain and improve the property. The rooms were neat and clean and have a layout not found in the more modern hotels allowing guests to have a little more privacy. The beds are comfortable and our bathroom had recently been remodeled. The staff were always pleasant and available for questions. In short, just a nice place to spend a week
The wife and I discussed this and to be honest we couldn't find fault with anything..

Owner of facility was very pleasant. First impression was this facility looked like an older motel, but the surroundings were clean. The room itself had been updated with vinyl plank flooring, the beds were comfortable, contained a lot of seating areas, and was fairly quiet. It was also nice that this motel was conveniently located to popular sites. In the future, if we choose to visit the area again, I definitely would seek out this motel.
Our room was located in the back of the property, and although fairly quiet, the angle parking was a pain. There was plenty of parking but the only way to exit was to back out to the entrance, a real inconvenience when one has an inability to turn their head due to neck issues. It looked like there may be plenty of room to make these spaces perpendicular instead. If you don't have these issues then you don't have to consider requesting a room away from the back of the property.

The rooms were spacious and clean. The property was cute and well located. It is an older motel and hasn't been "boutiqued" like other similar motels - but the pay off is that the room is more affordable and is still very clean and nice to stay in - it just isn't themed, which isn't necessary. You can pull right up to your room's door and unload. There are several picnic tables around the property if you want to hang out outside or grab a pizza and eat outside, like we did. There's also a cute pool. We didn't get to swim in it because it was the singular cold day of the month when we were there - but it was cute.
No complaints. It would have been great if the coffee was available before 7 as we were out the door before 7 both mornings we were there- but there are coffee makers in the room as well, so it isn't too bad.

Perfect location to let my mom acclimate before heading up to Woodland Park. This is our third stay, once with our dog. They are very chill about pets. There is a sidewalk that leads down to a small river walkway. Nice place to walk the dog. The room was exceptionally clean.
The whole place is a bit dated, but it’s very clean and the furniture is good quality; just a little worn. Lots of flowers in planters and hanging baskets. The owners obviously take pride in their property.

Check in was easy. Staff were very helpful. The bed was big and very comfortable. Our room was like staying at a great-aunt's house. It was amazing how much furniture they were able to get into the room. We were doing breakfast on our own and the refrigerator/freezer & micro-wave made that very easy. The location was excellent for access to Manitou Springs and Old Colorado City, and the highway to get to other parts of Colorado Springs and beyond was nearby. Good access to walking trails. Rooms have no irons or ironing boards, but they will provide them upon request.
The AC unit seemed loud, but that was a common problem with most places we stayed.

I loved the atmosphere. It encouraged you to be outside feeling more like a community than a motel. Each unit had an outside bench or chairs, there were picnic tables, a nice pool and beautiful large containers of flowers throughout. It was older and not perfect but updates were quality like laminate or hardwood floors, nice fixtures, etc. The beds were comfortable. It's family run and a lot of love goes into it. We met families that travel there every year for family reunions. It is very family friendly. Breakfast is coffee, prepackaged pastries and fruit, not a lot but enough to start your day. They have more types of units than listed on booking sites but you need to call them directly to learn about them. We liked it so much we stayed an extra night!
The parking is a little tight in some places. The motel is set up in a U with a set of buildings down the middle creating streets and the feeling of a small community.

There was a nice little pool with towels, the room was a good size, the fridge was a good size. We didn't try the breakfast because we chose to eat out at the many restaurants in the area. The rooms were clean, but I would've liked more thorough cleaning (sweeping the little dust and dirt on the floors) during the stay.
The ventilation in the bathroom could have been better-- it was just a tiny little window.

The price was very affordable. This was a halfway point for the meeting of two parts of our family. We liked the two-bedroom setup. It worked great for our needs. We liked our little patio. The location was ideal for our sight seeing!
The small air conditioner did not cool the second bedroom in the house. There was only one bathroom for the entire two-bedroom cottage. There were some unsavory pool jumpers (drunks/homeless). It needs to be cleaned better. The wood floors were filthy - very dusty. The cottage is definitely showing it's age.

Our second trip to this place and it was amazing. We brought our grandchildren this time. The pool was so nice and clean and the grounds looked wonderful with beautiful potted flowers everywhere. Many updates and improvements made since the first time we visited. They need to update the website and show off the new updates and beautiful flowers and plants added recently. Current photos do not do place justice.
