Fancy, good food, close to salzburg, kind staff, great view to the mountains, facilities where really special

We did not like or would rate it as a negative point compared to other stays we‘ve had so far - the fact that we could not attent the spa area before the check-in. Usually, if you arrive early at the hotel you can put your luggage in a separate room at the hotel and enjoy the spa area the full day once you arrive. At hotel gerl, we arrived at 11:30am, check-in was at 3pm and we were told to pay 35€/person until check in to enter the spa area. I did not like that especially because I know from other hotels, that you can enjoy wellness/spa area the whole day even before check in. Same we‘ve been told for the last day as well.

The breakfast was exceptional, best buffet we’ve had at a hotel. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The design of the place was really good and loved the lighting in the restaurant/ bar. Spa facilities and gym were great and very clean. Loved the location as well. Really close to the airport and also close to Salzburg centre. Great walks near by the hotel. Prosecco on arrival was a really nice touch.

The light switches didn’t work in our room so we could either have all of them on or none of them. Don’t know if that was the design? (Room 51). Wasn’t a massive issue but sometimes we wanted less lights on. Pillows weren’t comfy either but that’s pretty hard to get right when you go to a hotel because everyone has a different preference

This is a beautiful hotel in Wals (right next to Salzburg). The hotel has a romantic atmosphere, sometimes you know you are in Europe but sometimes you feel you are somewhere in Thailand or similar. There are 3 swimming pools (1 outside in the garden area, 1 inside in the spa area and 1 at 3rd floor with the heated water, mountain view and chill music.) Nice breakfast, good choice of fruits, fish and meat, cheeses. A comfy bed (they provide you with 2 separate blankets). You can take a bicycle and ride it around the area (we went for a swim to the nearest lake). The pool at 3rd floor (View Club) is awesome.

The room was smaller than expected and also quite old in some places (e.g. the bathroom door). Cleaning of the room: we never got a refill of coffee sachets and stuff like cotton buds so had to go to the reception. The View club is used not only by hotel guests but also by people from outside and very often they book the sun beds. Even staying in the hotel does not help you and if you want the sun bed to be guaranteed you need to pay extra 30 euro per person per day. But if you don't get to the beds you still have a lot of chairs, beds inside, one floor higher, etc.

The view was beautiful, the housekeeping staff were very friendly, and the facilities were great

I was first given a ground-floor room. After I contacted reception, a different staff member he moved me to a first-floor room, which was much better. The first gay in the receptionist asked for my credit card details for a deposit, which felt unnecessary since most hotels can simply place a refundable hold. When I questioned it, they said it wasn’t needed after all. I found that a bit unreasonable

We had a lovely time. The staff was polite and friendly, the wellness area is great, we enjoyed it a lot, spent the whole day there. The breakfast was amazing, one of the best hotel breakfasts I've experienced. The room was very clean.

The bathroom in our room was a bit of a shame. It was separated just by a glass wall, what was probably in an attempt to make the room seem bigger, but this wall provided absolutely no privacy at all. Moreover, if someone needs to use the toilet at night, the other person is immediately woken up due to the light and sounds from the bathroom. The shower was not separated enough and the whole toilet/sink area was totally flooded after showering. Finally, we just got one toilet paper roll and it wasn't refilled when the room was cleaned - something I can't understand in a 4* hotel.

Everything was Perfect! The staff was helpful, especially the girl from the view club bar :)

I’m a solo traveller, and when I arrived on Wednesday, all the facilities were empty, I saw maybe one couple near one of the pools. I expected the place to be more lively. I think it gets more lively on Thursday evening, and especially Friday and Saturday. Also, most guests arrive with a car, so that they can easily travel to the city etc.

The staff was very friendly and most of them spoke English. Being an American traveler in Austria, I had some language challenges, but I never had a problem communicating with anyone on their staff. The facility was very clean and up to date. The whole experience was very pleasant. We were not able to utilize all of the outdoor facilities due to the rainy weather, but the hotel has a lot to offer. I will stay there again when I am visiting that part of Austria.

I cannot think of anything that they could have improved upon (except the weather!)

Quiet, out of town location. We did not have a car and transport was easy from Salzburg (180 bus from the city to Lagerstrasse in Wals then a 4 minute walk) Beautiful decor and furnishing. Welcoming staff. Very clean and comfortable room (though quite small). Lots of choice of foods at breakfast. Three pools! Bikes available if you wanted them to explore local area.

Nothing not to like! We were there mid week and we preferred having the pool more or less to ourselves. At the weekends it is much busier with live music/pool parties.

When we arrived, our room was not ready yet. Nevertheless, the hotel and its staff was very flexible and helped us immediately. We could wait and use all the facilities in the meantime. When checked in, all hotel facilities were amazing. We had many choices, in- or outdoor swimming pool, sauna, rest areas, hanging at the bar... really nice when you have travelled some time in the car. The room was comforatable and spacious. Nothing to complain. It looks neat and modern, everything you need is there, even bath robes for the swimming pool! Last but not least, the breakfast is AMAZING! Everyday was different, all looks fresh and tasted excellent. If you're vegan, like sweet or salty food, it's just there. 11/10 for breakfast.

If there is one remark, you have to make a reservation for your seats at the bar apparantly? When you haven't done that, you could find no place. Even if all beds are available, it's reserved.... A first come, first served system would be better. I'm convinced that in that way everybody could enjoy the facilities at all times.

Breakfast was delicious every single day. They had many fresh made and healthy options. The view club was so relaxing. The relax pods, infrared loungers, sauna and heated outdoor pool were highlights. The view of the mountains was also stunning. Staff extremely professional and everything was sparkly clean.

Soundproofing on the rooms is really poor. Every sound from the hallway and staircase was as loud as if our door was open. The mattress on the bed caved in the middle like it was well used. It can get very crowded but that can't be helped.
