The beach in front of this hotel is amazing. Crystal clear water and white sand. Relatively gentle water (easy to float in). The staff is very friendly. The hotel is very easy to find and is close to the airport and to the city center via taxi/rental car. It’s a very quiet area with no nightlife nearby so no need to worry about noise keeping you up at night. Excellent value for the price.

The hotel is clean, but it’s getting a bit old and could benefit from a remodel. For example, the tiles were very stained in the shower. Although it is cosmetic, it’s definitely noticeable. The beds are not bad, but also not great. The breakfast was fine, but nothing to write home about. There is a Westin next door with a very similar beach. If you want something a little more upgraded I’d recommend the Westin.

The hotel was great. Staff friendly and helpful. The beach, the water, the views, and the snorkleing were excellent! The food was good. Dive shop steps away to rent snorkle gear. The hotel choice could not have been better. Clean, quiet, and relaxing. We met quite a few people who come to Cozumel and stay at the Playa Azul every time. Room 101, the ground floor, 10 steps to the beach with great chairs and umbrella, was the bomb.

The bed was a bit too firm for my taste, but the room was great overall.

Clean and cozy rooms. Good drinks in beach bar. Conditioner and bodylotion in the room. Very good place to swim. The breakfast was good.

Quite expensive Hotel has made deal with taxis about pricing. We came to hotel by taxi (100 peso), but back taxi was 150 pesos (he said they have agreed price with hotel!). Some guests reserved sunbeds early in the morning even they didn't come to the beach for several hours.

Staff was friendly! Great little beach access and palapas to sit under! Breakfast was great and so was the on sight restaurant- typical Mexican/American fair.

I’m not sure why this is, but I’ve been coming to Cozumel for 21 years, annually. I’ve never had a bed that wasn’t hard as a rock, like no give, none! Almost like sleeping on plywood with a thin topper. I wake up sore and achy every morning. I’ve stayed in rental house and probably 6 or 7 different hotels on the island and this is a problem every year. Something I’m use to now, but I’ve always wondered why. So, just be prepared.

The room we had was very accommodating and very comfortable. The beds were great, high quality linens, and extra towels in the bathroom. The ocean view was wonderful, the deck was very nice. We had the best breakfast every morning. Staff at breakfast were always there for anything. Coffee was always good. The beach and palapas were very cool. The over all value is hard to beat. We had read many Playa Azul reviews before making our reservation for valentines week. As always there are the people that pick out details that have little to do with overall enjoyment. We found nearly everything was as expected or better. We love Cozumel, and now we love Playa Azul! Can't wait to get back to our now favorite hotel!!!

We loved our stay at Playa Azul! The staff was friendly and helpful, our room was so comfortable and we loved how it over looked the ocean, we felt safe as there was someone at the entrance checking each car in and out, the breakfast was amazing, and we loved the little private beach. I would definitely stay at Playa Azul again!

One of the few hotels that are right smack on the water. I prefer a small/medium sized hotel with full services, and this property was it. I was really happy when we arrived. For me, it was the perfect place. Good snorkeling on the property along with a fabulous dive shop on the property, a restaurant that is water view and was steps to my room. And, I never heard noise from above me or from the sides. It’s more of a small family-feeling place. So many of the people we met returned year after year.

The property needs an update, not a re-do that would require a price increase, but an update.

This hotel was absolutely perfect. The room was very spacious and clean. The AC worked amazingly well (which is SUPER important in Mexico). We had a beautiful view of the ocean from our balcony. The turn down service was amazing as well. They even decorated the bed with flowers and folded the throw blanket into different sea creatures everyday. It was so cute! The staff were all so very accommodating and so kind. The front desk, yesterday staff, and housekeepers were all wonderful. Their English was very good as well so the language barrier was made much easier on us. In a foreign country, I would never expect those living in that country to be accommodating of MY language, and when we struggled with language, I always knew that was on me for not learning better Spanish. But they really go above and beyond to accommodate their English speaking guests and I am so grateful for that. The food in the restaurant was incredible and so delicious. This hotel has a beach club right out the back door with a beach bar as well. The swimming there was amazing and theres tons of fish so snorkeling at the hotel was great! The location is not in the main downtown area, but the hotel always had taxis right nearby or on the property and the front desk called them for us so we never had a problem getting where we needed to go. We LOVED this hotel.

There was nothing we didn't love about this hotel.

Breakfast was very nice. Service excellent. I often came in before 7 AM due to diving, and staff allowed me to grab a quick coffee and snack. Roberto at the front desk was always friendly and helped us out with taxis and anything extra we needed in the room. The bar staff (Ivan, Darwin, and Martin!) was awesome as always. We charged items to our room and checked out (signed) daily. Check was always 100% accurate. The best review must go to housekeeping. For this reason, I will always stay at Playa Azul. Room stayed clean and well stocked throughout the entire week. Valuables left in plain sight, and we never had to worry. This staff has integrity, and they take pride in their work. Thanks to the management team for having such a strong, service-oriented staff in place.

Honestly, nothing... I loved it all! If I had to dig deep, I might ask for a few more vegetarian options at the beach bar for my super picky husband. To offset the numerous gin and tonics!

We had two amazing rooms. Very spacious and with a stunning view from the room and the balcony. Big beds and a fridge. I loved the hotel style, much more charming than the new high rise hotels. The kids enjoyed the two pools. Small beach, but always with some free sunbeds. The sea is lovely and stunningly blue. Some corals just outside the beach, we did some snorkeling but only saw some fish. The kids loved the turtles outside the main entrance.

The hotel is too far from town to walk, and there is nothing interesting nearby, but with a rental car it is perfect. I missed a kettle in the room, but there was a coffee maker. The breakfast was fine, but fresh juice instead of concentrate would have been nice. We stressed a bit with the kids and beach towels/keys because of very high fees for losing anything.
