Dormy Inn is the best hotel in Kurashiki, hands down. The staff is amazing, the rooms are BIG (biggest I've ever stayed in Japan) and the rooftop onsen is TOP NOTCH. WOW. so peaceful. There are also free massage chairs, popsicles, yakults. Free dinner ramen and it's delicious. I felt like I was getting 20X what I paid for. There is also excellent peach juice refilled DAILY and boy is it fresh. We got new towels EVERY DAY. We don't even need that many towels but it did leave a nice buffer. And LEST WE FORGET, the BRANDED JAMMIES are excellent, great color scheme with matching sandals, loose bohemian style, and just the right temperature. By the way, the location is excellent. Off the main road so not noisy, but literally 2 seconds away from Bikan Chiku which absolutely slaps, recommend that spot for a day or night sanpou. Dormy Inn is where it's at.

The only thing that could have been better is that the bed was kind of hard and the pillow were also hard. Looking for a three story pillow next time.

We wanted somewhere reasonably cheap to stay that was close to the historical quarter, and this hotel ticked that box. Has a traditional bath up top which is nice for a chain hotel in the city, the ice cream afterwards was a nice touch too. Pretty decent breakfast buffet.

Another reason we picked this hotel was it is listed as having onsite parking, but it's one of those tower ones and only has 24 spaces so it was full and we had to park in a nonaffiliated lot down the road. The room was pretty small, and the hotel was quite crowded. my partner gave up on using the shared bath because it was too full and had a shower in our room instead. The bed was just OK, I woke up feeling pretty stiff and sore though.

So far our favorite stay in this trip! We are backpackers and it felt quite luxurious to us, even for one night. We took advantage of everything the hotel had to offer: juice, spa, ramen, massage chairs! The duvet was super comfy and we loved all of the products (in room and spa). Staff was extremely friendly and the hotel was spotless. Would certainly stay at another Dormy Inn, especially this one!

Considering everything else was amazing, I think they could improve the pillows.

Easy access from the main train station and easy access to the historical district. The staff was outstanding. We liked the free drink in the lobby, the free ice cream outside the onsen, the reasonable cost and access to laundry facilities. The massaging recliners available free to guests were a great touch and really soothed the muscles after a long day of walking around.

The room was small as was the bathroom. There was nowhere to store clothing and very little room to put down a suitcase.

Location was absolutely perfect 👌 The staff were super helpful as we booked in a last minute and had to find parking for our rental car. The lady from reception (her English was excellent) came out and showed me where to park and get an overnight pay ticket. Also that's free ice cream / juice / probiotic drink and washing machines is available for free to all guests. The room was very clean and comfortable. Highly recommended 🤩

Everything but mostly the location and the staff.

Great location right at the start of the Bikan Historical Quarter. Very easy to find from the train station. Very clean. My husband thought the onsen was lovely. Staff had to use Google translate but that was no problem. Breakfast was very good - a mixture of Japanese and western choices (mostly Japanese which was fine for us).

The room was very stuffy and we couldn’t work out how to get the temperature down below 20 degrees Celsius. We were able to open a window but it was too cold to do that overnight, so we were too hot (so were our kids in a separate room).

The hotel had its own hot spring which was great to use. They also have complimentary treats such as ice creams and yakult during your stay. There is also two free massage chairs next to the laundry room which was such a bonus after a long day out walking.

The Interior decor is a little dated but well maintained.

The best hotel we went to during our 2 week japan trip. - room is big enough and clean - bathroom is nice - personnel is very kind, especially that old cleaning lady, so nice to us I could die for !! I hope she is doing well. - the hotapring was very nice and convenient, there is an outside bath and an inside bath. - free yakult, ice cream and ramen during morning, afternoon and evening : such a nice bonus - there are 2 free massage chairs is a cool room, such a nice bonus too - 3 washing machines and dryers, you have to pay for it but still convenient - hotel next to the main area of kurashiki My recommendation in the area : - for kimono rent : KURASHIKI KIMONO KOMACHI - for a wagyu beef restaurant (best shabu shabu) : KURASHIKI_WAGYU_TAKA on Instagram. They have a flyer in the hotel lobby. The owner is so kind and funny !!

Spacious room just like other Dormy Inn hotels. The onsen was well equipped with a sauna, indoor & outdoor onsen. Washing machines are available and free of charge. Dryers are available too at JPY100 for 20 minutes.

The facilities were quite old. The hot & cold water taps were separated for both the wash basin and shower. A bit disappointed with the facilities.

Great location near the station and the old town. So many freebies - juice, tea and coffee in reception, ice lollies, yakult, massage chairs and noodles after 9 pm.

The pillows - very firm, though they did supply a softer one on request. Bed not so comfy as other hotels. No USB port for phone charging but they provided an adapter.
