The communal rooms were lovely, the gentleman who served us dinner and breakfast was professional and to a high standard, even made sure that are deserts were out in time for a taxi that was meant to be booked.

The breakfast good very good but a slightly pricey, for half a haggis, black pudding, Clootie dumpling circle and a kids sized glass of fresh juice … I found someone else’s hair clip on the carpet, a lot of noise from other rooms for doors closing, we ordered a taxi and the hotel booked it and they had booked it for the next day rather than what we had asked this resulted in us being late for our show. Paying for parking was expensive.

beautiful property and grounds. well presented interior. felt like a special venue, above ordinary. meal was great.

we felt there was a sick-y smell in the bathroom but it looked clean, it wasn’t till the morning we noticed on the bottom of the drawn curtains there was sick from previous tenants. the shower only seemed to be hot, I couldn’t work out how to lower the temp. booking process was a bit tricky. on booking.com it wasn’t clear how to add a pet, so I called and was told this would be fine. we also had a 4 year old with us and booking.com default was to sell us two rooms. called again as didn’t want our daughter to be separate and they said no problem for a portable bed and to just book as a couple on booking.com. could have been clearer.

Easy check in, nice spacious third floor room with large bathroom. Friendly welcoming staff. Fine dining in The Orangery with both an excellent dinner and decent breakfast.

High bedroom window looking onto roof parapet with treeline beyond. Lots of debris (not just leaves and moss) on roof. Looked like it had not been swept for years. Bath plug didn’t work properly so water was draining as I tried to have a bath.

It's a beautiful building, set in amongst lovely grounds. Had dinner which was good, I'm lactose intolerant and was a bit disappointed that there wasn't any dairy free mains, my dish had to be adapted, it would be great to just ask for a proper dish, specifically made with no dairy. Only dessert on offer was Sorbie, again disappointed, there are loads of really good dairy free sweets out there!

I arrived at 1240hrs as I was attending a wedding at 1400hrs, so we requested an early check which we were charged £40 for 1 hour 20 minutes, this seems very excessive a bit like the bar prices very expensive. I also lost a lapel badge in the wedding function room, I did ask staff but nobody was very helpful to try an locate this or even if it had been handed in.

Beautiful old charm and quality.

Only having to climb stairs to our room.(3rd floor) Both of us (in our late 70s and recent knee operations, found it a challenge after a day spent sightseeing. But it didn’t take away from the pleasure of staying in such a beautiful place and we do understand that it isn’t possible to always have lifts in such buildings.

Great location and grounds. The hotel is set in amazing grounds with so much character. The staff can’t do enough for you. On arrival the room was really cold but it soon warmed up when I put the radiator on. Can’t fault the service and facilities.

Cold room on arrival but nothing major.

The best thing about this location was the seclusion what is just what you want after a long drive and a days work, no unreasonable waiting in service for evening meal or breakfast easy check in and out

in the pouring rain the walk back to the hotel from the car park in better weather the walk will be lovely

Everything excellent apart from episode with bath Beautiful surroundings Beautiful house Excellent friendly helpful staff Excellent food drink and accommodating professional staff Appreciated the male managers response to our complaint in morningwhich he dealt with in a very understanding approachable professional manner to rectify situation

Stench that enveloped the bathroom 🚻 and room Poor response from the female manager who was asked to come to room to smell for herself but refused x So disappointed Obviously thought it wasn't important Couldnt use the bathroom facilities and had to vacate room early in evening for our meal as still a acrid stench Couldn't use bathroom facilities in morning either as scared it would happen whilst using bath or shower Unsettled night as anxious it would happen overnight clouded our stay for our ruby anniversary which was in Oct but postponed as I had pneumonia Overall disappointed what was supposed to be a relaxing stress free stay resulted in a traumatic experience x
