We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Gilvenbank Hotel in Glenrothes. The hotel is beautifully set in a peaceful, green environment — a perfect place to relax and unwind. The property is well-maintained, welcoming, and full of charm. Our room was spacious, spotless, and very comfortable, with everything we needed for a pleasant stay. A special thank you to the entire staff, who were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our visit. In particular, the manager was truly outstanding — such a kind, attentive, and genuine person who made us feel right at home. Everything was simply perfect, from the warm hospitality to the quality of the services. We highly recommend the Gilvenbank Hotel to anyone visiting the area, and we’re already looking forward to coming back!

All meals were fantastic and freshly cooked. Very good value for money. Morning staff were tentative and very cheery. Evening meals the same . Top notch chef and nothing was a problem . The room was large and spotless .walk in shower and also spotless only thing missing was a fridge. We stayed a few days and could have been done with somewhere to keep our milk and juice cold. I am not too good at these reviews. What I will add is we enjoyed our stay so much we booked an extra night. Honestly the stay was that good . It’s only 30 or 40 mins from Edinburgh. Makes an ideal base and not to far away.

We had to leave .

Room was very nice, clean and quiet. We were at the back of the property. Not much of a view i.e. were looking at a hedge but it made for a very peaceful sleep. Other rooms looked onto the car park. The rooms were obviously newly decorated and so spotlessly clean. Breakfast was buffet for some and hot food served. Service was efficient and friendly. Staff in reception, the bar and restaurant were very friendly and helpful, even when we arrived en masse after a party at 12:30 am. I would definitely return.

I would prefer to have tea bags and make my own tea. I don't like tea out of an urn as you are stuck with the strength as it comes. It was pretty weak and I don't like my tea overly strong so I doubt it was great for most people. Could do with a towel rail in the bathroom.

Room was clean and comfortable. Lovely decor. Breakfast was very generous and the staff were all very friendly. Would 100% recommend anyone to stay. We had a superior room.

No towels in the room to start with and only given small hand towels. Wasn't too much of an issue though. Sausages on the breakfast were hard but really wish they had square sausage on the Scottish breakfast. The other party had a standard room which was very tired and dated and the shower attachment didn't stay on the wall. I understand they are currently going through a refurbishment so would try upgrading to a superior room if you can. Didn't ruin our stay though.

The breakfast was excellent, a brilliant dinner in the evening, best steak pie I have had in my life. The staff exceptional so friendly and we were given a free upgrade to the bridal suite !.Lovely and quiet and very good night's sleep in a peaceful room and location.

Although we were given an upgrade its very sad that a bit of money could not be spent on replacing or cleaning stained carpet and upgrading the bathrooms. It could be they just can't afford to as a hotel business but this hotel has huge potential if money could be spent it some redecoration of corridor areas and rooms. Outside the bar area on the terrace their were people smoking what smelled like weed(it seemed no one is bothered about this)which was so unpleasant we had to come indoors,a shame as it was a lovely evening outside.

The warm welcome, ease of getting into our room. The very high standard of cleanliness, the high standard of furnishings, which were very modern. The bathroom was easy accessible and to a high standard. Loved the decor throughout the hotel, (William Morris, wall paper and art work)The bed was one of the most comfiest that I have ever slept in when staying over in hotels. The restaurant staff were very friendly and welcoming, the dining room was very clean and the tables were nicely set. Our meal was prepared quickly and when it arrived it was really nice also. Well,,, what can say about the cooked Scottish breakfast,,, it’s huge, you could have the full 9 items that were on offer,, hubby tried but could not finish it. There were also yoghurts, pancakes, cereal, croissants, fruit juice’s and tea and coffee to help yourself to, to help wash down the many slices of toast you get brought to your tables. I would highly recommend staying here if you are in the area. I would certainly give it a 10 out 10.

Nothing. It was a fantastic nights stay.

The hotel staff makes this hotel a lovely place to stay. They are very friendly and have a great way with guests whether they be elderly or children. Our family wouldn’t have had a great experience if it wasn’t for them . They make the time to interact with the guests but also maintain a professional level. Nothing seems to be too difficult for them. Every morning and night waiting with a lovely greeting for you. Can’t thank the staff and manager enough.

Menu could a bit more varied but what was on the menu was good

Twice I've been here and both stays where great friendly staff lovely 😍 superior rooms 2nd time booked superior again ... Didn't get my special request until I arrived, but they went above and beyond for me came to my room and gave me a complementary bottle of proseco as a sorry for missing my request but booking doesn't notify of messages so best to phone yo confirm if you want special instructions for youre room.bedroom radiator wasn't really heating up tried to get it to work couple times but couldn't really figure out how to fix it... so they moved me rooms best thing about it wasn't that far from my first room.that I had to go so I didn't have to go far with my stuff... Breakfast included is always a bonus 😋 Food is amazing will definitely be back again. Beds are comfy clean and very welcoming What i would say though is maybe perhaps a later check out time...I'd love to just spend some time in the room after I've had breakfast before I leave apart from that I love staying here.

The staff were wonderful and very friendly and helpful Moved us to a more suitable room without quibble We have stayed here several times

I booked a superior king. It was newly refurbished but it didn't have any storage. There was a bit of hanging space, but no shelves and only one small bedside draw. It was very cold when we arrived and they couldn't get the heater to work. We moved to an older room, which had more storage but awful beds. Eventually, we got a better room with storage and heating and a newer bed.

Newly refurbished. Beds comfortable, rooms quiet. Huge potential to be a really great place to stay.

No wifi which was bizarre. Mobile data very poor reception in rooms. No menus in the room. Reception seldom staffed. Housekeeping only got to us at 4.45pm on our second day which seemed very late. No sign in room to put on door to say please don't disturb. Fire doors propped open along corridor. Maybe because they bang. But not great. Breakfast could have been delicious but everything was coated in spoonfuls of oil. My potato scone sqirted oil out as I cut into it. Very disappointing.
