Fossil Coast B&B ‘ticked all the boxes’ for me and for my short stay in Hāwera. I didn’t want a larger motel unit as such. I just wanted a bed and bathroom facilities at a reasonable price and Fossil Coast B&B provided that. I appreciated being met by Gillian when I arrived and being shown my room. As I did the cleanliness and neatness. My rooms were always warm to come home to and my bed comfortable to sleep in. Staying three nights at this establishment underpinned the enjoyment of my stay in Hāwera.

There was nothing I didn’t like. I wish I could have stayed longer.

The BnB is absolutely stunning, the room was perfect, had a really comfortable bed and the en-suite was immaculate. There was a lovely decked area and plenty of places to sit outside in the sunshine. The dining facilities were also lovely and the hosts allowed us to cook whenever we wanted etc. Gillian and James are the perfect hosts and it really made our entire roadtrip staying with them. We couldn’t have asked for more especially over the Christmas period they welcomed us into their home and made us feel like family. We are so grateful to have stayed here, and Sam their dog is just the sweetest boy in the world! Thank you so much guys🫶🏼

There was nothing I could say was bad about this experience at all. Apart from it coming to an end :(

Gillian, our host, was our favorite part of the stay! She was so interesting and helpful, and went above and beyond to find a way to return a cellphone we left there. Our room had a nice view of Mt. Taranaki. Hawera was an overnight for us, not a destination, but it was a lovely stop near Hollard Gardens and the Forgotten World Highway.

From the north, the driveway was tricky to pinpoint right after an intersection, but not a big deal.

Breakfast not included. Excellent location.

B&B itself was perfect, as was the location. We knew it to be on a main road so expected a degree of traffic noise. Being allocated a front room closest to the road accentuated the noise of heavy trucks particularly throughout the night. A noise shield (double glazing) to the front room(s) would enhance the existing high level of comfort for future guests.

It is my 2nd time staying here but this time we got the family room! What a great space for 4 adults ... The location is spot on to be able to walk into town if you need to ... Local to King Edward Park, the sports hub, the pool, a gym, sporting fields ... So well located ... On the main rd but both times we've not heard road noise. The layout & comfort of the rooms almost feels like a ripoff because for what you pay, you get so much more!

We loved everything!

The breakfast was above expectations. It was self help with milk, bread, fruit, jams, coffee and teas etc in abundance. The unit we were in was separate from the house and reasonably self contained. We had a very cold spell while there but we were warm and cosy with central heating coming on during the day. Our little dog Rosie was happy in her safely fenced surroundings.

Everthing was fine

From the moment we parked our car outside the front door, the warm welcome was lovely from Gillian. We booked the lovely twin unit located to the back of the property. Gillian's presentation of the unit was top notch right from her beautiful homemade raspberry jam, to the Hotel style linen and bathroom facilities. Gillian, James and Sam - the friendly black German Shepherd dog were so welcoming and looked after us throughout our two night stay, we didn't want to leave. Gillian farewelled us with a jar of her fine homemade raspberry jam - delicious! We will return one day soon - Ngā mihi nui Gillian, James and Sam ☺️

From the moment we met James and Sam (his dog) we were greeted and given all the information we needed. Nothing better than feeling comfortable the moment we got there. Our room was fit for purpose, clean and had everything we needed. The shower was the cleanest one I have ever seen. Not a speck of dirt or water marks anywhere on the shower door. I couldn't believe how clean everything was, just amazing.The cooked breakfast the next day was beautiful. It felt like home away from home!

Nothing everything was great.

I couldn't wait to finally come and stay here. Gillian & James were the perfect hosts ensuring we were comfortable and had all that we needed. The room was immaculately clean with enough space for our bags & us. Very local to town, the pool, sporting grounds and my marae. James was so nice to prepare breakfast for us the morning we left and Gillian's hug kept me warm all day. We will definitely stay there again 🙏🏽

That we didn't stay longer

I felt safe, the host was friendly but not over bearing, the room and facilities were beautiful, clean and cosy. It was great to have a desk, tv, ensuite, fridge and coffee etc. The takeaway soaps were a lovely touch too.

The busy road was a bit noisy, a desk lamp would've helped and a microwave, plates and cutlery with dishwash liquid would've been awesome. These are all minor points because on the whole the stay was awesome.
