Breakfast was good and not too expensive. Parking on the property was available for a nominal fee. The hotel is located a short walk from the main part of the town where we had a nice dinner at the Kurhaus, a Greek restaurant.

Our stay there was not very memorable, just a stopping place between home and our first real destination on our road trip from Switzerland to the Netherlands. We chose Schluchsee because of location and the Pension am See because it had parking on site.

It was my husband's birthday when we visited the lake. The hotel staff were so friendly and they upgraded our room for free and prepared cake and wine for us. The room was clean and located very close to the lake and to some nice restaurants. We enjoyed the sauna in the room very much. It is a great place to stay in summer and winter!

Location was very good, close to the main town and the lake. Sufficient parking places.

The rooms are outdated with dull lighting. specially bathroom is very old. Our family room had only one bin in the bathroom, no bins in other areas. The so called beachfront is a poorly maintained backyard. I have lived in better properties in Schluchsee and Titisee for less prices, definitely not worth the money.

The Pension am See is located directly at Lake Schluchsee, there's a bakery and a supermarket nearby. Although the room interiors look tired, the rooms are clean. Our room had a little balcony and was relatively quiet.

You have to check yourself in by collecting the room key from a lockbox at the door. There’s nobody on-site to answer any questions, and the only way to contact the owners is via phone or email (unfortunately, our prior inquiry went unanswered). During our stay, we encountered several confused guests in front of the hotel who were unable to retrieve their room keys. We faced multiple issues in our five days at the property (broken slats under one bed, the wifi wasn't working, a sticking toilet flush button, etc.) that couldn’t be resolved because there was simply no staff present. On our last day, a cleaner entered our room without warning while my wife and 10-year-old daughter were getting dressed. I’ve stayed in many hotels, but I’ve never experienced anything like this before. When I contacted the property manager to express my frustration, they justified it by saying the cleaner had mixed up the room numbers. This was of little comfort to a 10-year-old girl who had to face a strange man while not wearing any clothes! All in all, we can’t recommend Pension am See. It’s definitely not good value for money, the communication with the property manager was rather unpleasant and there are significant flaws in their business processes.
