Myself and a colleague arrived late in the evening for a work training course nearby, and after a 6 hour drive I'd realised that I hadn't confirmed that we wanted a twin room instead of 1 double bed. But while we were having dinner, admiring the beautiful scenery and being told not to worry, they would sort out our last minute request... We came in to find that they'd upgraded us and given us 2 separate rooms for the duration of our stay instead of having to share the bathroom as well! Absolutely fantastic and then the lovley breakfast definitely made the 6 hour drive home much more bearable. Thank you to all the team involved!

From our moment of arrival the staff were welcoming and friendly. We were in a lovely comfortable and cosy room with all the usual amenities. A beautiful view from our window. Plenty of seating outside where you can enjoy the sweeping views of the country landscape. The food was superb, husband had the garlic mushrooms starter which he said were the best he has ever had and we both had the burgers which were huge and delicious, the accompanying fries I could have happily dined on all evening. It's a small bar so not a lot of tap options but plenty of spirits, wines and soft drinks as well as bar snacks. We had a lovely overnight stay.

We stayed one night after doing the Northumberland 250 route by motorbike. The pub is a great location if you are planning this ride being on the bottom corner of the route. We decided to stay after seeing a review on YouTube by another couple with the same idea. We were glad we did. Great location with amazing views from the garden. Excellent service, friendly welcoming staff. The food was great and reasonably priced, better than I've had in more expensive restaurants. Breakfast also great quality. We'll definitely make a point of staying again when we are in the area.

What a super place! The welcome, owners and staff were all lovely, very friendly, and both dinner and breakfast of a very high quality. The room was comfortable with everything I needed, and the whole ambiance cosy, with a traditional bar too. The location is amazing, with sweeping views across Derwent Water and the North Pennines, and if you're looking for somewhere to base yourself to tour Hadrian's Wall, Durham, Newcastle, Hexham, and the stunning scenery of the Tees Valley and Northumberland - you will struggle to find a better place.

Quiet and comfortable pub-hotel somewhat in the middle of nowhere, but convenient for our travels. We had the smallest room, but it was still comfortable and well-appointed with a nice view out the window over to the Derwent Reservoir. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and both the evening meal and breakfast were great (with gluten free options well catered for).

The only drawback was the lack of a lift - however we knew that before booking, and the staff helped us up the stairs with our bags.

Amazing scenery surrounding The Manor House Inn. Wonderful view from the bedroom window. I really enjoyed the steak for dinner. Perfect location for a nights stop off on route to see family.

My only negative comment would be that I couldn't get the blind for the small window to go down and the curtain for the main window let quite a bit of light in. Though this wasn't a big deal for me, it would be good to consider ways to make sure it can be a bit darker in the room.

The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The menu, although limited, was very good. The breakfasts were excellent and varied. The craic in the bar in the evening was inclusive and entertaining. Close to Durham, Hadrian's Wall, Jedburgh and the North East as a whole.

The only blot on the stay was the weather - which was very blustery and the hotel has a rather exposed position on a ridge. Other than that, an excellent base for exploring the north east of England.

A great place to stay with lovely staff throughout our visit. We had a good evening meal in the bar that has great views over Derwent reservoir. The room was a good size as was the bathroom. The room also had views of the reservoir. We stayed here on the second day touring the Northumberland 250, Good location on the main road with lots of secure parking. A big thank you to the lady doing the breakfast who went above and beyond to make our stay spot on.

Nothing all good.

The staff were extremely friendly. Within minutes of walking through the door, the 2 ladies running the bar, the chef and the locals were very welcoming. The food was excellent too, big portions and good value. My room was plenty big enough for me, the bed was comfy and the shower was great.

I would have rather been at the back of the property so that I didn't hear the cars on the main road. I am a light sleeper so I woke up quite a lot throughout the night.
