The hotel offers lots of small details, like Christmas cookies, a fruit basket, chocolates in the reception area. I also liked it had a mini bar in the room, although we didn't use it as there is a supermarket across the street. Location wise is perfect, just some steps away from the central station form those looking to explode the black forest but also close to the city to enjoy a stroll and get lost in Freiburg's small but lovely streets. I was here with my mother and felt quite young as this hotel serves an older crowd. Breakfast was ok, but a bit old fashioned (only few vegetarian options, none vegan options other than Müsli).

Our room only had one window and the room was a bit smelly when we first got there.

Charming, clean and conveniently walkable to main train station, trams, cathedral, restaurants, old town. Hotel has associations with many German writers and intellectuals and the decor features walls of books. We were in one of a kind room 113, a lovely high ceilinged room with a balcony, big windows overlooking park, view of Munster spire. Very nice breakfast in bright morning room with lovely coffee. Friendly helpful multilingual staff. We were able to safely store our bags after checkout at noon on our last day because we were taking a late train to Frankfurt.

Nothing not to like! We were visiting our son who lives in Freiburg and we were so comfortable at the hotel, we plan to stay at the Park Hotel Post when we come again.

Its location is unparalleled. It’s only 5mins’ walk from the Freiburg Train Station, has 2 supermarkets nearby, and only takes 5mins’ walk to the Alstadt. Each room is individually furnished, clean, comfortable and very well-equipped (yay for heated towel racks). The wifi is strong and consistent. It feels classy with the literary-themed furnishings. To top it all off, there’s a choice of a free drink from the fridge and they further offer you a bottle of water when you check out. These little things really make a difference!

Excellent location - very close to the train station and old town. Hotel was very clean and my room was spacious, although it took a bit to get used to a single sized bed. Breakfast was wonderful, I should have taken advantage more than once.

My room was level with a walkway, and I was not able to leave my window open at night. I would have like some sort of screen or inside locking mechanism allowing me to have my window open at night and yet be safe.

Great location, nice room (lots of space to store clothes and things, this somehow becomes a rarity these days), comfy bed, very nice and friendly staff. Also this hotel has a great style (literature, writers, books) and really feels like it’s special and has a heart and a soul. Overall, will stay again!

Can’t think of anything really — we wish we could stay for longer. A kettle in a room would have been nice but I know this is not common in Germany. 🙂

The Park Hotel Post is ideally situated in a quiet street, with a five minute walk from the main railway station and about a ten minute walk to the cathedral in the Altstadt Our room overlooked a small park where vines were growing. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The reception staff can provide local travel tickets at either free or heavily discounted prices.

The breakfast room was not big enough for the number of guests. Many guests had to share tables or sit in the reception lobby where additional tables had been laid up.

What a great hotel. Each room has a theme associated with an author and book. It was extremely clean and comfortable and very roomy. Located just a couple of minutes from the train station, it is also 5-10 minutes by foot to the Münster and the Old Town. The staff are lovely. All of them. Breakfast was great and they really took care to make sure we were happy and had what we needed. They even helped me pack my breakfast one morning when I was in a hurry and sent me on my way with hit chocolate. My friend moved to a room in the hotel down the hall and was much happier there than her previous hotel. It's really great. Gemütlich.

As reported in other comments the staff were exceptional. Friendly, polite and helpful. The parking facility was excellent, though a little cramped. If you have an e-vehicle, charging was included in the price which was a nice surprise since I'd been upgraded to a hybrid hire car.

This isn't a criticism, only a suggestion. I was unexpectedly upgraded to a hybrid electric vehicle by my car hire company. What I did not know was that Freiburg has a low emission zone with penalties if you do not have a permit. Buying the permit seems to be a convoluted affair and it wasn't clear what I needed to do or whether the car actually had a permit. The staff were great and I didn't need to buy one since I wasn't driving about the centre, merely coming into town then parking. I think it would be useful, though, for the hotel to advise that Frieburg has a low emission zone and, perhaps, provide a link to where the guest can get more information. If the information is in their listing then I didn't see it when booking so, perhaps, make it more prominent.

This hotel is very well located, close to main train station, the train/tram hub and a short walk to Old Town. Very clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was excellent. Room was big enough for a couple with luggage and a very comfortable bed. Our room had a city view which was a bonus. We really enjoyed our stay and had no issues.

What a delightful hotel! Each room is dedicated to a different German author. Books are in each room - in German of course, but we live in the age of online and AI translators. Breakfast was wonderful. Located near the train station and just a few blocks from the old part of Freiburg. It was especially convenient to explore the Christmas markets spread throughout the town. Limited underground parking available.
