We thought the hotel restaurant was great. The quality of food and the service. We had a picturesque ‘Juliet room’ with fabulous views of the harbour area. We were on foot but we had easy access to buses ( to bc and hullo ferries ) - we also got the bus to Neck Point and saw Whales (far away but with binoculars). The small ferry boat to Newcastle Island is nearby too. In our opinion a great hotel to say in if you visit Naniamo. If you like beer then visit the Tap Room at ‘The White Sails Brewery’. That is great and again a short walk from the hotel.

Nothing - but away from the Harbour the town of Naniamo isn’t that large. We stayed 3 nights.

The location is fabulous. So many cafes and restaurants within walking distance. Felt safe walking at night. The staff were very friendly and helpful with suggestions on places to visit and places to eat. The room was spacious and clean. The view was amazing!

The bed was a little firm for my liking. By the end of our 5-day stay, my hips were getting sore. But, the linens and pillows were very nice. Also, it was quite rainy and cold during our stay and I wanted to have a warm, relaxing bath. Unfortunately, the tub is very uncomfortable to lie back on so it wasn't very relaxing.

My partner and I were very impressed, if not a little shocked, by how much we liked this hotel. We were looking forward to staying in a “basic” hotel, e.g. just a one-night stand that had all the regular hotel amenities, and this place really went above and beyond. Perfect downtown location, extremely helpful and pleasant front desk staff, and a fabulous room with both water and mountain view. We may have just gotten a particularly lovely room, but we even got to see a father seagull regurgitate a fish and then watch his three babies fight over the guts. We were enthralled. The room was very clean and the beds very comfy. Fridge, freezer, lots of counter space in the bathroom, lots of room to spread out and re-pack our stuff – it was a traveller’s dream. We explored a bit outside the hotel but Nanaimo has some rough parts (especially if you are trying to get to the nearby laundromat) so it was very nice to return to our safe and beautiful hotel room. Highly recommend if you’re passing through!

Liked that we were able to change rooms to a larger one with a big soaker tub The A/C was working and very cold which I liked Loved the view,bedding, and location Liked the water station in the lobby with fresh cold water Our son was super excited when the staff arrived with some goodies on the house for his birthday.

The room didn't have many amenities for the kitchen. I had to ask for a kettle,plate and spoon I wish the lobby had a coffee/tea station with complementary drinks. A pool/ hot tub would have been nice

The room was very beautiful and overlooking the harbour. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room was well laid out

The pillows were rather stiff. I made a gamble not bringing my own based on the website boasting that they are very good. The bed was more on the firm side.i would have liked better water pressure in the shower but it was ok I suppose. The restaurant hash browns had literally no seasoning on them and no salt or pepper at the table. The road was torn up outside and gated off so that wasn't fun, they share parking with a city parkade which was kinda sketchy, if you have a truck over 6 feet you need to park further away which I definitely didn't like

Staff were lovely, bed comfortable, large bathroom, room large, all clean.

The hotel ordered a taxi for us which we appreciated, however, the taxi driver ripped us off. The hotel should be more careful of who they call for their guests, as it reflects badly on the Coast Bastion when our overriding memory is of being vastly overcharged by the taxi they arranged for us. As we were on our way to the ferry and then airport, we didn't have the time or energy to argue with the taxi driver about this, but the memory lingers and it taints our experience at an otherwise nice hotel. On another note, we found the bar area a bit clinical. Would have stopped for a drink except for that!

Our room was huge with a wonderful view of the harbor. We were able to have the sliding glass door open so a nice breeze off the waterfront entered the room at night. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was perfect with plenty of hot water. The gym has plenty of equipment for a good workout too. Location of hotel is perfect for catching the ferry to Gabriola Island. Parking is available in the parking garage for a reasonable daily rate.

There wasn’t anything for us to dislike during our stay.

Great location, in walking distance to many restaurants and gift shops. Lovely room with a fabulous view of the marina!

On check-in Staff promoted their restaurant, giving us coupons for it, so we changed our plans to eat there instead. Sadly then when attempting to get a table we were then advised they were fully booked with non-hotel guests with reservations due to an event elsewhere so we would have to wait an hour for a table. Frustratingly this was something check-in staff should have known. Also, we received a text not long after arriving asking if we needed anything else. More towels were requested as we'd booked a room for three adults yet only given two towels... still waiting for those towels!

Fabulous room with a view -- Grateful for A/C in the warm weather, and found it very easy to adjust. Staff checked to make sure I was comfortable in the room after I got settled, and they were readily available to help if needed. I had breakfast one morning, dinner one evening in the hotel restaurant -- food was good, service was considerate, efficient, and friendly. Great location in downtown Nanaimo.

The room was absolutely beautiful. It was very clean. The bed was sooo comfortable and I loved the view I got of the harbor and how close it is to the harbor. The staff was extremely friendly.

The only thing I would change is the way the parking structure is set up. At the front desk I was told “ once you park, look for the 2 white doors with our hotel logo, but it was soooo hard. I think they should have more signs that lead to these doors as there are other white doors and it’s very confusing, but the hotel cleanliness and remodeled rooms made up for it.
