I was late arriving due to a very, very long journey and the booking I had made with another place being cancelled when I was en route. The staff could not have been more welcoming or more helpful. The car park was spacious, and felt safe, and the area around the pub was lovely and quiet. My room was very clean and comfortable, with everything I needed laid on. I didn’t eat there as I arrived late and left early, but they very kind made me up a packed lunch to take away. I’d definitely go back, and I’d recommend to others. I felt very safe there

Lovely pub in a quiet village setting. We received a warm welcome upon arrival. Good sized car park and check-in was simple and easy. Double bedroom was fine with a spacious, modern and very clean en-suite. Good choice of drinks at the bar and staff were very attentive. Ate at the restaurant one evening and the food was plentiful and tasty. Both the full English and vegetarian breakfasts were good. The knowledgeable host provided us with a number of suggestions of places of local interest. Large beer garden but it was a bit too chilly to enjoy it during our stay! Oakham and Rutland Water just a few minutes drive away.

Stayed 2 nights. Slept soundly on the first night but second night we had a few noise issues when the heating system started up in the early hours.

Booked the superior double and it was ideal, having a small sofa to sit on was a bonus. The bed & pillows was very comfy. A very clean room. Food/breakfast was very tasty with plenty of choice. The downstairs bar, lounge and restaurant areas were full of character with quirky bits of decor all around. Very friendly staff in all areas. Lovely, large beer garden and plenty of parking.

The bar closes early (9.30pm). Not really a problem, and we were aware of this when we booked, just thought it worth a mention.

Very friendly and welcoming. The room was fabulous and the bed comfortable. The staff were great and had a sense of humour. They had to, listening to my dad jokes about vegetables! The food choice was great and cooked magnificently. We ate breakfast on 2 of our 6 days and it was perfect, Plenty of free parking. The owners run a very good Inn. we wanted to return for 6 days next year but the rooms were booked for a wedding. Would certainly return!

We did not eat breakfast every day as we were working and left early. We were provided with a pack to take away each morning and the sandwiches were cheese every day. They need a bit more imagination.

Had a wonderful stay thank you. Really enjoyed the location, the outlook. Arrived during a beautiful Rutland sunset! Found there to be a lovely lively energy in this quaint village pub. Good hearty meals and tea and breakfast. If the locals like it, it must be a good sign. Room was perfect for me on my own - enough space for my things and sweet in its design. Clean, comfy bed and linen. Friendly service from all the team. Would recommend.

I don't have anything negative to say about my stay. I had a really lovely time.

As a solo female business traveler I was made to feel so welcome. Had help to my room with my bags. I had an early start on Saturday and Sunday morning, and Yolanda made sure my breakfast was actually cooked and ready by 8.30am which meant I could get to work on time. A lovely friendly place to stay. Very nice food. Deserts were to die for!!! I will return

Tv brightness needed adjustment, and although a member of staff tried to help, the picture was still dark. Window latch needed fixing, but again, member of staff tried to fix it, but it needed a little more attention once I had checked out

Very friendly and helpful staff. The landlady called us to warn us of an event happening in the village which meant a road would be closed for a short period.

The bed wasn't particularly comfortable, could do with a new mattress, although possible could do with a larger double, standard doubles are pretty tight for two people I find. We couldn't get a taxi from here, booking needed well in advance, but thats not the owners fault, just something to be aware of.

Great village pub atmosphere, friendly helpful staff, wonderful food, spotless room and bathroom, great beer ! Big big plus, you are dog friendly and my Spaniel, Scooby loved it there ! Also kind enough to look after my coat after I left it during a previous stay. Fantastic, will recommend to all my associates who go model flying at the national model flying centre near Sewstern. Good location in a village a few miles from Oakham. Decent-sized car park, comfortable room, good real ale and a superb salad for evening meal. An interesting pub quiz in progress! Breakfast was also very good - overall, would recommend it!

I don't know whether this is down to the White Lion or the booking website but check-in was advertised as 2.00 whereas the place was closed until 5.00 - still, it gave us time to look round Oakham!

A well run excellent husband and wife run public house. The gardens and hanging baskets are amazing, all completed by the landlady. Very artistic. All the food was excellent.

Unfortunately there is a flight of stairs going up to the bedrooms...a bit of a struggle. Could I respectfully suggest another handrail on the right would be an enormous help for us oldies, and not too expensive to install. Thank you.
