The George Inn was beautifully decorated, extremely friendly and helpful staff and the food was amazing! The hotel is old and rather quirky in places and the room was very clean with a very good shower, all decorated very tastefully. The bed was a little firmer than I would have linked, but that's just my preference. However, I did sleep well. Nice and peaceful and I was not disturbed by other guests. All of the food was amazing! Delicious evening meal and a fantastic breakfast. I will definitely stay there again!

Whilst the public WiFi provided was some of the best I've used, I unable to use this for work due to security reasons. My phone signal only managed 3G which was very intermittent, so I was unable to hotspot from my phone. This however is nothing the Hotel can control and is certainly not their fault or issue.

Nice olde worlde pub in the centre of town. Lovely bedroom next to courtyard, with a large comfy bed and seating area. We ate in the restaurant, food n wine were very good.

We thought the bathroom needed a bit of attention, the wood panelling looked a bit shabby, the flooring maybe changed to tiles instead of lino, and we struggled turning down the temperature of the water in the shower. Also, the room was lovely and quiet, until about 6am, when people started walking about upstairs, making the ceiling creak loudly and also noise of people talking loudly from the courtyard, so we could get back to sleep. The cost of the room for 1 night was a bit pricy, especially as no breakfast included £157!

A small town atmosphere with some quirky staff. When I left for the day and came back it felt like coming home. No pretensions and if you are a resident of the hotel you are looked after, even if the restaurant is full or the bar is closing. Super clean, classy and quiet. I think I’ll go back next month!

The weather but nothing they could do about that. Or the noise from the market setting up outside the front of the hotel. I advise that you just keep your windows closed.

Breakfast was lovely, and the gentleman that served us every morning was the most kind and polite man. The hotel itself has lots of character. Also lady manager was very understanding when I mentioned that the room was quite small for both of us, she made it more comfortable by adding an extra bed in the room, as the double was quite small and soft for both of us to sleep in. Cannot fault the staff.

I think the floors were a bit creaky and noisy, espeically at night, who ever is above you or the room at each side, I heard there every movement. Also heard the women beside me whole conversation on the phone most night and mornings, which was quite annoying if you were in bed. Also think its over priced accommodation for the standard room your given.

This is a brilliant place to stay. Very old building with many original features and right in the centre of Oakham. A good sized free car park at the back of the hotel too. Fantastic terrace. Lots of interesting and original artworks. A superb breakfast and staff were utterly wonderful!! Will visit again.

These may seem a bit minor but sometimes the detail makes a place. The plastic flowers everywhere. We stayed in a hotel recently in Italy and it had real plants and flowers and it makes such a difference. It looks so so tacky and sorry but it is so British. Some of the modern art was totally out of place and honestly quite poor.

The check-in staff were very friendly and welcoming and we didn't have to wait long to get into our room (a group arrived just in front of us). The room had good facilities, was exceptionally clean, and overlooked a lovely courtyard. Check-out was just as friendly as arrival, and we were told that we didn't need to move our car immediately from the hotel car park as we were going to have a look around the town before we left.

The room was good but a little on the 'tired' side re the decorating.

We stayed here for two nights for a wedding and had a lovely experience. All of the staff were super friendly, attentive and polite, they could help with anything we needed. Really appreciated on site parking and how close we were to the city centre so we could come and go as we pleased. Food was excellent too! Thank you to the whole team!

We appreciate that this is an historic building so weren’t surprised that we could hear other guests come and go, use the shower early in the morning, come back late etc. Plus we would have appreciated some more plug sockets in the room. However the atmosphere, friendliness and proximity to all of Oakham more than made up for these little things.

We’ve visited the George Inn (Brook Whipper) about three times now, it is in the ideal location set in the market place, they have their own carpark, they are also able to accommodate well behaved dogs, great courtyard to sit out and chill, lovely food. The Brook Whipper as used to be called had started to get a bit neglected, however new owners have re-instated the original name ‘George Inn’ and is being brought back to standard, it has recently been decorated in heritage colours which works well and adds character, along with various ornamental pieces are a nice touch, access to the carpark has greatly improved. Our two night stay was a good chill out and really enjoyed it, the member of staff on breakfast duty on the last morning (27th June) went the extra mile, a very pleasant guy!

A member of staff had no concept of time by emptying the bottle bins in a bin by the courtyard around 22:30, 23:00 and then again at around 23:15hrs.

Great staff, nicely decorated hotel and cosy room. Decent bathroom. Full English Breakfast well worth having. My bride used the room for the morning of our wedding and we used it for our wedding night. Staff were only too happy to help with carrying stuff and flexible with check-in and check-out times.

In hindsight, it wasn’t the best room to get ready in, not many lighting options for hair and make up people (they made do with what there was). The bed was a little harder than would be our preference.

Room was a disappointment for an Executive Double. Not anything like the bedroom photos advertised. Bed was clean but mattress extremely firm so not terribly comfortable. Room was cold with very thin bedding. Provided a throw & an electric heater but still very cool overnight. Bathroom very tired. Leaking Shower with a shower curtain that was too short & water went onto the floor.
