An Unforgettable Stay in a Charming Village Retreat ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Recently enjoyed a two-night stay in this beautiful village gem, and it truly exceeded all our expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and hospitality by the exceptional staff, who went above and beyond to ensure our comfort at every step. The setting was peaceful and picturesque—perfect for a relaxing getaway. What stood out most, however, was the incredible food. Every meal was a delight, showcasing fresh, local ingredients and a real passion for flavour. Whether it was breakfast, lunch, or dinner, each dish was beautifully presented and utterly delicious. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and thoughtfully appointed, blending rustic charm with modern comfort. But it was the staff who made our stay truly memorable—friendly, attentive, and always ready with a smile or helpful suggestion. We left feeling refreshed, well-fed, and genuinely cared for. We can’t recommend this place highly enough.

Superb food at breakfast and dinner - the best scrambled eggs ever. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. Situated in a beautiful village. Having fresh milk in the room was a real bonus. Very helpful staff.

The bathroom was oddly long and narrow, but I accept that this is a very old, characterful building. The bed was too low to the ground for my liking, so difficult for an elderly person to get up from. There was black mould around the sink.

Friendly welcome on arrival, taken to our room (we were on the top floor) - pleasant and airy, in keeping with the age of the building. The en-suite bath/shower was small, the taps on the hand basin were loose, but they were functional. We were only here for a night away from home. We had beer and food on site (the food was good, but my wife had salmon (main) sticky toffee pudding to follow but was still peckish - we had a walk to the other pub in the village where she had a bag of crisps.... The beer was good, the staff were all friendly and likeable. We didn't have breakfast so can't comment - but if we find ourselves back this way we wouldn't hesitate in checking here for availability. Thanks

Small bath with shower over and loose tap on the hand basin.....

The welcome was very warm and the decor delightful. We loved the quaint, quirky lay out. The evening menu was exceptional - not a "with chips" type thing but with a really varied selection. Breakfast was beautifully done. The staff were, without question, all very friendly and helpful. We don't normal visit this area of the country, but will try to manufacture reasons to stay again, we liked it so much

Warmer weather!!!!

Beautiful little place to stay after a day out at Burghley house. Well stocked bar, comfortable surroundings. Evening meal was delicious. Recommend the Pork Belly, pie, and the tapas style chorizo/prawns as a starter for 2. Breakfast equally amazing, freshly cooked, and piping hot. Room was nice and clean, facilities too. Owner very helpful and cheerful, a little tour and history of the pub too which is a nice touch.

Didn't get to sample the other ale that was still settling.

Fabulous, hospitable staff. Lovely cooked breakfast. Great car park. Genuinely dog friendly (owner's dog so sweet). Great value for money and made a change from paying higher prices in Oakham or Stamford or the more 'popular' villages round Rutland Water.

The warmth of the staff, cleanliness of bedroom, and quality of brekkie were all more than enough to make us very happy, but for me the bed (in Cottesmore room) was softer than i prefer. However, mattress softness/firmness is personal preference, isn't it!

Lovely family run establishment on a quaint little village. Staf were very welcoming and attentive to our needs. Accommodation was clean and bed very comfortable. We stayed up in the eaves of the coach house in Cottesmore Room. Breakfast was lovely too. A special shout out to Emma and the rest of the team. Will definitely stay here again on our next visit to the area. Highly recommended for facilities and value for money.

The staff were very welcoming, happy and friendly. The food was absolutely delicious. Our dog was made just as welcome as we were! A lovely big, comfy bed in our room.

The window in our room was very small so the room was rather gloomy but we didn’t mind, it was because the building is old! If you want more daylight, just ask for a room with a bigger window.

Very friendly and very helpful staff. The locals are also very welcoming. The food was very tasty and good pub food. The breakfast is exceptionally good and value for money at just £15. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The location is great for people travelling long distances and want a break as it is near the motorway. It is difficult to find fault.

Actually I cannot find any bad points.
