The rooms are nicely decorated and very clean. We had coffee pods in our coffee/tea basket but no coffee machine to put them in, just remove the pods and we wouldn't have said anything :)

The staff at breakfast on the first morning didn't say anything about how to order breakfast. We ordered tea and then she went, she never came back. We had to ask her for a menu and was told that there isn't one, they will cook whatever you want. However, you feel awkward about that because you don't know what they will do. Some form of an idea would be good. We did have to wait for breakfast for quite a while, it was being cooked fresh, which is very good, but just let people know this. It didn't spoil anything but someone else did have to ask for breakfast to hurry up.

Brilliant. No written menu because they offered a completely flexible request system at the table by a member of staff. Food was hot, well cooked and very tasty. Delicious flat white coffee, nice big cups and saucers for hot drinks. Well done. Liked the very friendly and competent staff. Liked the lively pub atmosphere in the bar, lots of locals as well as visitors which is always a good sign of a well run bar. Lovely newish fluffy towels in room.

Very old windows shabby. The bar room windows were so painted over that they couldn’t be opened behind us when it was hot and airless. Fire doors are an absolute nightmare (room 6) but obviously a necessity and not the hotel’s fault. Stairs from ground floor have short treads and so a bit tricky if in high heels (or a slightly infirm pensioner!)!

Very friendly and helpful staff. Our room was quite small, but clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. The pub was busy (Friday evening), but we had booked a table to eat so not a problem, and the atmosphere was great. Food was basic pub grub, but very well prepared and presented. Good beer.

Lighting outside the room was poor, and stairs are quite steep. Obviously it is an old building, so the stairs are what they are, but could be challenging for people with reduced mobility.

Location is right on the high street. Breakfast is excellent value, good portions. The bar is friendly with a good food and drink selection and the staff very welcoming and helpful. The room was comfortable, well appointed and despite being over a busy bar and in the main street, it was quiet.

There's nothing we didn't like but on site parking is limited although it's free on the main street overnight, so wasn't a problem.

A "classic" English town pub. Had a nice buzz, very friendly staff, and my room was nice, roomy and a comfortable bed. The breakfast was VERY NICE.

Only issue was that the pub closed early, so we couldn't get a drink when we got back and had to go to another place nearby for a nightcap. I think they missed a trick there as it was a Thursday night and several us were staying there.

A warm welcome from staff, comfortable beds in a quiet room and a fantastic breakfast the following morning!

Potential guests should be aware that access to the rooms is via relatively steep stairs. The floors are uneven and there are lots of low beams and doorframes. We had initially reserved for my parents and it is just as well they were unable to come because I'm not sure that they would have been able to get up the stairs anyway!

Loved the location - very central. The accommodation was very comfortable and clean and even though we had been advised of live music, the sound proofing was very good and once in our room couldn't hear a thing and slept soundly. The Manager and staff we met were all very friendly and made us and our German Shepherd very welcome.

The only small downside is that we couldn't park in the carpark as it was full but we did find somewhere close by - it just meant a few trips with our luggage.

Everything was amazing from the staff that went above and beyond to meet needs and accommodations. Breakfast was included in the price which was a big plus. Very delicious and well made. The location is perfect as well, close to everything. Laura was over the top amazing. I rented a car and didn’t know my way around with the road signs or driving on the opposite side of the road. She was kind enough to let me look over at her daughter’s driving manual which helped alot. She went above and beyond

We loved everything, there’s nothing that i would change.

The Crown is a 16th Century coaching Inn with loads of character and a lovely feel which has a lot to do with the friendly staff. The food was very good - home cooked using quality ingredients. Particularly enjoyed the locally blended 'Two Chimps' coffee served in the bar. Uppingham is lovely and worth exploring. A proper pub with a fabulous team.

1-the smell of the bar downstairs (beer and old smoke in the wood) 2-the last day they forgot about my request (to prepare me some patries for to go… as I left at 7:30… althow it was time to open the kitchen)
