Good location for what we needed. Good range of drinks on offer and a good breakfast included in the price.

Could do with a little tlc in places but still very good value for the price. £65 with genius discount inc breakfast.

Returned for a longer stay after an earlier excellent over-night stop. Everything was just as consistently good this time. Interesting old building suitably renovated. The owner-manager provides a personal as a well as a professional approach to running this attractive pub/restaurant with clean, well-equipped bedrooms. Large carpark. Black-out curtains assure good night's sleep. Housekeeping is thorough rather than perfunctory. Restaurant enjoys a high reputation with well-cooked and presented dishes. Staff are efficient and friendly to talk to. The Old Pheasant is well placed for exploring the delights of Rutland.

Minor quibble only: no soap in bathrooms, only small tubes of shower gel instead which are awkward to use. The owner presents a good justification for its use, though personally I prefer a bar of soap.

From the moment of booking, then upon arrival, check in/ check out, each & every member of staff from the reception team, bar staff, chef & hospitality staff & management looked after both my dad & myself, going above & beyond to make our stay relaxed & stress free, nothing was too much trouble, friendly & empathetic, thank you so very much - Deluxe Twin room comfortable & clean, selection of toiletries & good choice of tea & coffee making facilities - Breakfast was a feast with lots of choices with both continental & cooked buffet options the quality & service that was provided was 1st class..... definitely awesome value for money paid for stay. :-) Awesome staff team

Simple, clean, pleasant room with excellent storage. Nice to have coffee machine as well as kettle in the room Very friendly welcoming staff [Lovely cosy bar for drinks & had a good evening meal - lovely food & attentive but not intrusive service ]

Bathroom needs a refit or at least a little smartening up - grubby sealant, shower screen leaked onto floor, etc A bit of confusion over breakfast - cooked, full English not available mid-week, though continental breakfast was satisfactory [On a summer's evening we guess that the room overlooking the patio might be noisy but this wasn't a problem in February!]

* The restaurant (same building) was incredible: delicious meals and beautifully decorated, ate there several times, great chef! Sunday roast, pizza and curry were delicious! Book in advance - the restaurant is well known (We had underestimated it, but the owner happily got us a table, which we were grateful for * great helpful staff and owner * breakfast: continental buffet including fresh fruits, croissants, chocolate croissants, toast, cereals, great coffee machine!!! (café late/cappuccino etc), tea options, jam variations, cheese, ham - see photos on Booking.com, free full English breakfast on weekends * big parking spaces behind the building * location: good road connections * interior: great design in all rooms, always connecting to the name of the inn, cozy atmosphere, yet modern * great value! We will certainly book it again, should we return to the area

Evening meal in Restaurant was very good, great flavour and good choice, great surroundings, great location, good parking, I would return as rooms were very comfortable and great amenities , would also recommend to others passing this way

Breakfast, was very poor, very limited full English, only scrambled eggs, no fried or poached available, and amounts on Display, made it feel like, you could only have 1 of each item, limited fruits, and only plain natural yogurt, did not like the fact that Bar clossed early, and after breakfast, everything was locked up, until reopen at 12.00 mid-day, you also do not clear tables until all finish eating on your table, poor etiquette, everything felt like they were in a hurry to get cleared up and go.

Lovely pub in a beautiful location. Host and staff were super friendly. Continental breakfast was a typical breakfast, and the croissants were delicious and the home cooked ham. Food in the evening. Night 1 I had the steak and ale pie which was delicious but the veg were a little under done for me. Hubby had the lamb shank which he said was nice. Night 2 We had the homemade onion rings and garlic bread for starters which were delicious.I had the chicken curry, very nice but very dry so couldn't eat all of the rice as no sauce. Waited for the Naan bread to come out but it was very thin and hard., maybe could have dipped the bread in the sauce. Hubby ordered a portion of the onion rings (even though the picture on the specials showed it came with them) we had to wait for them and it seemed as though they had rushed cooking them as they were nothing like the portion we had as a starter. All in all pretty disappointed with night 2's food. Had a great nights sleep and the pillows were beautiful.

The room was ok but except for above the wardrobe (which was massive) there was no shelves in which to put clothes on, we had to fold them up and put them on top of the suitcase. Only 4 coat hangers. No accessable plugs. One socket behind the bed and one underneath the desk of which we had to unplug other things to be able to charge both phones up.

The Old Pheasant was very reasonably priced but, even better, dogs were welcome without charge unlike several places that we have looked at who will not take dogs or, if they do, charge as much a £25 per dog per night. This is just greedy. For a so called nation of dog lovers and, particularly in a rural area, surely dogs should be made welcome. Perhaps an option for a cooked breakfast on the Monday morning would have been nice but otherwise everything was good. Happy to reccomend-

My only.. criticism (and I understand that this is a fairly personal one) is the shower over the bath. I would much prefer a seperate shower or, better still, do away with the bath and put in a walk in shower. Otherwise, nothing to dislike.

The Old Pheasant was the perfect spot for a relaxing one-night stay with my daughter. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the warm, welcoming atmosphere. Our room was beautifully decorated, absolutely spotless, and had thoughtful little touches that made a big difference—like the coffee machine and complimentary biscuits (a definite win!). It was blissfully quiet at night, and having the car parked right next to the entrance made everything super convenient. Both the breakfast and evening meal were outstanding—flavourful, hearty, and far beyond what we expected. We left feeling refreshed, well-fed, and already planning our next visit if we would ever be close by!

The character of the property is great. When you enter from the carpark everything is spotless clean and welcoming at the same time. Before I got to the bar we were stopped and given a very warm welcome. We had to leave the property very early the staff bent over backwards to accommodate us even to the extent of bagging our breakfast so we could take it with us. When we left. The bar area was a very relaxing place to sit and eat. We had the fish and chips and the chicken ribs. Everyone commented on how good the food was. Service was exceptional explaining what chicken ribs are and any other questions we had. The staff were excellent freindly and professional. The rooms were comfortable and spotless. I could find nothing to complain about it was a exceptional experience staying there and I am sure we will all return in the future.
