Comfortable, spacious room and beds. Staff welcoming and friendly. Breakfast good but a bit pricey and somewhat limited beyond cooked options (ie no cereals, fruit, juices). An earlier start to breakfast service would have been preferred...only available from 9.00 am which seems a bit late, especially when you are keen to be on the move and exploring the area.

The main negative issue was the constant music 'pollution' from the bar below from which there was no relief. This alone would make us consider whether we would book again. It made 'resting' in our room between our trips out less than ideal.

Charming village pub with a generous car park with ample parking. The Royal Oak has wonderful staff who sort any problems out efficiently and with professionalism. The menu is fine dining at it's very best with a good choice of starters mains and deserts. After talking to chef I was advised to try the belly pork which did not disappoint it had been marinated in herbs and slow cooked it was delicious without doubt the best I have ever had and the accompanying root vegetables was on point making for a very enjoyable meal. My wife had the lamb liver with a creamy mash and vegetables and she said it was delicious. We both had the wild mushroom starters and we both thoroughly enjoyed that, all in all a very pleasant dining experience so thank you chef and team for making our stay a very enjoyable one and hope to see you all again soon. Lovely location, very pleasant staff, would stay again.

Our room was above the speakers in the pub below, which vibrated through the room, but finished by 11pm each night.

The Royal Oak was packed with charm and such a beautiful building and pub … the room was nicely presented, very comfortable, quiet and spacious too … the front of house staff were exceptional, friendly and very attentive. I’d not planned this visit, it was very last minute, and it was a great find at an incredible price. The food was to die for in the restaurant and very reasonably priced for such an excellent meal … I’d have paid at least twice the price in London. I will certainly be rebooking and have already recommended this property today!

There was very little I could dislike about this property … for the price and location it was absolutely first class.

We have just spent a thoroughly enjoyable weekend at this establishment. We Loved the friendly and helpful staff, especially Roz, for whom nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was excellent and freshly cooked. I was not able to finish The full English, despite my best efforts. We had dinner in the hotel on our first evening, which was honest, good food, with no skimping on the portions. Unfortunately, the chef was not available on the second evening, but Emma, the owner, offered to ferry us to the sister establishment for dinner, and back when we had finished. We couldn’t have asked for better treatment and would certainly go again. Thank You to everyone there for friendly, helpful and professional service. Dave and Faith.

We had read comments that there was road noise. To be honest, the hotel is located next to a busy main road, so this is to be expected. The building appears to be a listed building, so it would not be possible to put in double glazing. The windows do, however have a second window inside, so this minimises the noise as far as possible, and to be honest, the road does become quieter later in the evening, so we did get a good nights sleep both nights.

Such a pretty village and a pretty building, lots of space for parking, friendly staff. We didn't have breakfast but we did have dinner which was large portions and very tasty. The room had a lot of space, we booked a double and the mattress could do with a topper for a bit more comfort but it was ok. The bathroom was large and with a bath. The room looked onto a the main road with some traffic noise but this wasn't bothersome. A good value room in a lovely location and I would stay here again.

Very steep and narrow steps up to the rooms but the lovely staff helped with luggage.

The staff were very welcoming and it definitely is a dog friendly hotel/pub. We had an excellent meal in the restaurant with quality food and service and even a treat for our dog 🐶 The room was clean and comfortable, the ensuite bathroom had lovely white fluffy towels. Overall we had a lovely overnight stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

As it was a hot day and evening we decided to sleep with the windows open. Unfortunately traffic noise from the adjacent main road did disturb our sleep periodically, but wasn't a deal breaker.

I booked the room at short notice for two guests who had to change travel plans due to the impending Train strike. The triple room was well laid out and the bathroom spotless. They both reported a comfortable nights sleep, the bar staff were friendly and welcoming both at check in and check out. The bar/restaurant area were clean, as was the outside seating area. A big thank you to the Royal Oak for looking after my two guests for the evening.

Choice of beer for myself but the two staying enjoyed the bar offerings.

The pub/hotel was a lovely grade 2 building, room had everything you would need, nice and clean the breakfast was excellent, good choice and plenty of, we also had a meal there the previous night and that was fabulous too

one small problem was our room was next to a noisy main road but we did choose the cheapest room and we could have had a superior room if we chose but for one night we didnt mind, Would definately stay there again but just choose a different room

Ros was on the bar when we arrived and gave us a good welcome. We initially thought we would be too late to see anyone, but we're pleased to arrive with bar still open. Excellent pint of Landlord on offer. We also enjoyed the breakfast , which was very tasty. Another young lady on duty, who provided first class service. Both staff members we met were cheerful and welcoming. The room was clean and suited our needs very well.
