Outstanding service. The room was clean, had tea and coffee facilities, hairdryer, TV, and free WiFi. The bed was comfortable and warm. The bathroom was large and had a shower and bath. Towels were provided. Proper locks on the door with a key. The decor throughout was stunning. The red room was luxurious but cosy and full of charm. The view of the village green was lovely, it was very peaceful and quiet. The atmosphere in the bar was friendly, the locals were nice people, and we didn't feel unwelcome at all. The food was absolutely delicious. We highly recommend the Greek menu. The location is idyllic. The village is picturesque, leafy, and historic. No local shop, fast food, or takeaways. Just peace and quiet. Overall, the hosts have gone above and beyond to make this hotel a comfortable cosy experience for their guests. From the beautiful decor to the little touches in the room, like the pod coffee maker. I felt they may be experienced travellers and have created this amazing place based on what they would expect from a hotel themselves. Cantvrate the stay high enough. We will be returning for sure, and we are looking forward to it. The village is a perfect location to access Rutland water.

Beautiful hotel with loads of character and rural charm. The bar and restaurant was festively decorated with lots of twinkling lights on arrival - we stayed in the African themed room with beautiful antique furniture, top notch bedlinen and eclectic decor. There were thoughtful touches everywhere from the hosts, and the bathroom was huge.. We didn’t eat at the hotel, but the bar was excellently stocked and we had a great chat with Simon about the hotel and village. We really enjoyed our stay, would highly recommend for a romantic escape, thought it was excellent value and location for a Rutland visit.

Located in a very pretty village. Room and bathroom were spacious. Food was good. Little extras like toiletries and such. Easy parking for car.
Breakfast was delicious but pricey at £15 each. Would prefer breakfast to be included in room rate. 4pm is a bit late for check-in and for there to be no one on the premises until that time. Likewise 10am is an early check-out when one is definitely steered towards a 9am breakfast. Decor and lighting in bedroom a bit gloomy.

The Fox and Hounds is located in a beautiful part of the country close to Rutland Water with great walks nearby. Our room was well equipped and comfortable, although I prefer a lighter weight duvet in July. Simon and Christina (our hosts) were obliging and informative. Breakfast and evening meals (particularly the Greek option) were very good indeed, but I'm afraid that I need to eat less as I've aged!! I would have appreciated a lighter choice (say, a Continental breakfast option) to be offered. When I enquired about a lighter option our hosts offered Meusli and Greek Yoghurt which was excellent for us.
Our room was a bit dark and I'm not a big fan of "shabby chique", but many are, and this was very well done for those people.

Everything. It’s a very old coaching inn. The premises is dog friendly. The decor is great, the room (deluxe room) was lovely, a four poster bed & the bathroom was huge, incorporating a large bath, shower, toilet & two sinks. Being such an old building it has lots of character & squeaky floors as you’d expect. Breakfast was equally as good, cooked, filling, served with tea, orange juice, toast & trimmings.
Nothing.

Lovely old coaching inn in village location (not too far from Rutland Water) with garden to rear and adjacent courtyard for parking. Nice area for walking/cycling. Hotel/pub with open plan bar area. Patio and seating in the garden. Stairs to rooms. Large room, nicely decorated with bath and separate shower cubicle. Separate wc too. Tea/coffee in room. Freshly cooked breakfast to order (ordered on sheet previous evening). Very tasty evening food even on Sunday when kitchen closes early, we were still provided with an excellent sharer which more than hit the spot.
Couldn't really fault.

Beautiful building with huge rooms which are exquisitely decorated. I stayed in room 3 which I absolutely loved. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean and the bathroom was very large with a big shower and a separate bath. The property is located in a tranquil village with lovely walks nearby. The food is delicious too. Simon and Christina made me very feel welcome and were very attentive.

A beautifully decorated and clean room with comfortable sheets and plentiful towels. Quiet location in a pretty village and friendly staff. Courtyard parting perfect for dogs sleeping n the car. Helpful with dog walks and a great field for them to run in.
When I called I was assured the kitchen would be open for an evening meal but on arrival was informed the chef had been sent home, I had booked on this information and was slightly upset by the situation on arrival. I had been hoping for a meal at the hotel due to tiredness but ended up with an excellent meal a short drive away.

A perfect place, quaint, quiet , a traditional looking country pub. We were there to visit Geoff Hamiltons Gardens which was literally a 5 minute drive, right on the doorstep. The Owners were very professional, friendly and accommodating. We were very comfortable and slept very well. The food was very good, hot and well presented. We would go back.

The building from the outside is beautiful and the village . The hosts were warm and welcoming, and will do anything for you. We had a meal that was put on for us, even though the restaurant was closed. What a lovely addition our room was out of this world with an extraordinary bathroom. Would highly recommend staying at this place.
We loved it all.
