Only stayed one night as we went to the Tolethorpe Hall theatre. Great location, lovely place with a very pleasant feeling about it. The room was very clean and adequate for our needs with a very comfy bed. It was a little hot and stuffy but the weather was hot and we found a fan to help cool things down. Staff were very pleasant and helpful and the breakfast, full English, was superb, freshly cooked, great produce and lots of tea, juice and toast! We will definitely be going back for a longer stay to explore.
In the short time we were there there was really nothing to criticise- it was a bit hot and stuffy in the room but the weather was very warm and we had a fan - loved it there.

The property had a lovely warm feel to it. The room and food (Sunday Lunch) were good. A nice selection for breakfast. Lovely quiet location and not too far away to join the walks and trails around Rutland Water. The Manager and waiting staff were warm and friendly.
Room very hot so quite difficult to sleep (small fan supplied in the room but personally I'm not struck on hot air being blown around a room - but you may be ok with it). Early morning deliveries, which occurred just below our window from around 6am, however, I understand these need to take place. Female receptionist felt a bit 'cold' upon checking out. I thought she was quite rude to me, but that's just my personal opinion and didn't affect our stay in any shape or form.

Warm friendly welcome. Receptionist carried my bag up the stairs to my room. Comfortable bed. Good lighting. Fan provided. Good menu for both dinner and breakfast. Lovely grounds and outdoor eating area. Friendly helpful staff. Good choice of well-kept draught beers.
1. Signage to the Inn not good. Needs a roadside board, Current sign obscured by foliage. 2. Despite the fan the room was uncomfortably hot (it had been a hot day) but some form of air-conditioning is necessary. 3. Walk-in shower dangerous, even for able-bodied users, Needs a slip mat (the white ceramic floor dangerously slippery when wet) also need a grab handle inside. 4,. Most of Saturday's dinner good, but the two roast beef dinners we had were spolied by over-cooked (or burnt) roast potatoes. 5. There was a problem with the gas cookers in the kitchen at breakfast, so a reduced menu on offer.

We had an overnight stay last night at the Finch’s Arms. It was absolutely excellent. We were delighted to find we had the most wonderful view of Rutland Water from our room (4). The staff were really welcoming and attentive in our arrival. The room was very clean and comfortable. The Nespresso coffee maker was a nice touch and the biscuits with the Finch’s logo a nice touch. The bathroom very luxurious.and spotless. Toiletries Nice too. We had dinner in the restaurant last night and it was delicious- again, service exemplary. Breakfast was cooked to order and the menu extensive. Beautifully cooked and served. The location was beautiful. I would not hesitate to recommend a stay here to anyone. Thanks to all the staff who made our stay so memorable.

The location, helpful staff, good food.
Room was too hot as it was above the kitchen. Staff playing loud music early in the morning. Car parking inadequate when the venue is busy. Some more thorough cleaning of skirtings etc needed in bathroom. Shutters on windows were dirty. Tap on basin is loose. Shower needs to have a grip mat available in room as it is dangerously slippery. Towel rail is inadequate for the number of towels, very difficult to dry them with no central heating on.

This is an excellent hotel exceeding its rating. A fine example of the best of English hospitality, it sets a high benchmark which other inns and hotels should be aiming at and which in many cases do not. The staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful and the cleaners do a remarkable job, the inn is spotless. The place is very professionally run. It's a credit to the owners.
There was nothing we didn't like. Parking can be a challenge at times, especially on the weekends but it's a minor matter which doesn't affect our rating.

The Finch’s Arms is a destination hotel for us. It’s a gorgeous property in a beautiful location. The rooms are beautifully done with many delightful touches, including fresh flowers and lovely, individual furnishings. The food was fantastic with cosy, intimate dining spaces and even a roaring fire at breakfast. All the staff were so lovely to us, making us feel welcomed and looked after. I can’t recommend it highly enough and we look forward to visiting again. We’re planning on making it an annual treat for ourselves!
Nothing.

Another absolutely fantastic stay at the Finch's! Hubby stayed here the night before our wedding so he was in prime location to our venue down the road at Halfmoon Farm for morning set-up. We both stayed on the wedding night in the suite (the bath was lush!) It was a really lovely stay, and we appreciated the little note left for us. Late check-in was accommodated to the bridal party staying here (14 of us in total). We also had a huge table drawn for breakfast so we could eat together. The restaurant is beautiful.
Breakfast could do with a couple more vegan options - porridge with oat/soy milk, or some vegan sausages would be good. We subbed out the meat and eggs on the full english for extra beans and toast.

Excellent position for walking round the peninsula Gardens were lovely to sit in (despite the wasps!) It was a nice touch to get bottles of water everyday Food was excellent
Apart from two members of staff (the cleaner and lady who served breakfast) who were very friendly the other members of staff did not make us feel particularly welcome. A few more details about where to find things in the room might be helpful (ie hairdryer, tea/coffee etc)

Great location in the middle of Rutland Water with footpaths down to the water on both sides. A very warm welcome from staff on arrival, and great interaction throughout our stay. Rooms are thoughtfully decorated and beds comfortable, and the bar and restaurant spacious and well laid out. There’s a lovely terrace garden, though it was a bit too cool (in early July!) to sit out. Reasonable parking at the front of the property, though it can get full at busy times. Nice touches were the Finch’s Arms biscuits, an umbrella, fan and fan heater in the rooms.
The pub sign is very minimal and it’s easy to drive straight past! Lighting in our room didn’t seem to illuminate any of the mirrors, not least in the bathroom. Parking could be a problem for hotel guests arriving during food service.
