The most polite, friendliest and welcoming staff I have experienced in a long time. Nothing was too much trouble and a huge effort always to make sure our stay was perfect. The room, service all round, food etc was all 10/10. The situation of the hotel on the banks of Rutland water was stunning and perfectly situated to explore the area. I would highly recommend.

A handrail disguised as a towel rail at the end of the bath woukd have been useful and helpful in getting in and out of the Bath …. But this is being really picky!

The room was great, overlooking the lake, good sized bed, lovely to have a balcony to sit on, easy to keep the room at a comfortable temperature. Plenty of hot water for shower/bath. The breakfast was good too, lots of choices.

We did request a later check out (which costs an additional £10) but in the end, checked out at the normal time (10.30am), but were still charged for the later check out. We did sometimes hear the TV in the adjoining room and could hear when showers were running in other rooms around us. The views of the lake were great but it was a shame to also overlook the main car parking area. We ate in the restaurant once although were staying 2 nights, but there was only one vegetarian option so didn't fancy it both nights.

My room (437) was described as a cosy double and by cosy they mean small. It was clean and tidy with a good sized bathroom. When booking a tip would be to ask that there is parking near to your room as the site is on a hill and parking is all over the place. A decent gym ,pool was full of kids so didn't use,. On a big plus the restaurant is excellent with a very good menu

A small room ,the bed occupied it and very little space around it. It felt very claustrophobic tbh ,very poor lighting inside , outside view was a wall ,parking miles away from room, very hilly you have to be part mountain goat.If youre going to use the gym lockers take a £1 coin ,no info on this anywhere.

What a beautiful hotel, had a wonderful stay. Cosy room was more than big enough and very well presented and comfortable. Had a lovely dinner in the restaurant. Hope to return soon.

We did try the pool, unfortunately the jacuzzi were out of action and the gym was ok. It wouldn't stop us from again as we had a lovely 2 night stay. Thank you

The location and grounds were great. The staff were excellent. The room was clean and comfortable with a beautiful large bathroom. The food at the restaurant was delicious but the dinner menu was on the expensive side. A previous menu which we had seen online was more varied in its choice and range of prices.

The room lacked drawers for clothes. Also it was gloomy as the only window faced a garden wall which restricted the light. We knew we were not booked into a room with a lake view but we did not expect to be looking at a blank wall only a metre away.

It is fair to say it is a little bit pricey but what you are paying for it rather good, if not rather interesting. I was expecting the location to be a hotel but essentially it's more of a lakeside holiday park, albeit a more upmarket one. There's a combination of A frame style lodges, self catering apartments in converted buildings, and hotel rooms in the old Manor House and two blocks near by. I knew I was not in the main house but the hotel area was not what l expected; it was much smaller (good thing, less banging door and traffic etc) and everything was outside. On arrival, I had booked a cosy double but they were selling much bigger standard doubles for £5 less. I didn't ask for any money back but I did ask to have the bigger room which they obliged with. The cosy double would have been around the back of the block with a view of a wall or bankside, which is what my friends had in two different rooms, whilst I was at the front on the top floor and due to it being December with no leaves on the trees I had a lake view of Rutland Water. The room was nicely sized, well equipped, very comfortable bed and nice tea/coffee facilities. Yeh heating provided pictures on the wall was a bit strange, they threw out a lot of heat so rolling over in bed at night to face one of them you could get a suntan (almost!). The bathroom all worked well, slightly that the door was hung what seemed to be the wrong way around, but fair enough. Most of the leisure facilities were closed for refurbishment, which knew at the time of booking. It would have been nice to try the pool and looked like it was mid refit; from what looked original and what looked new by looking through the window, it looks like a refurbishment was overdue. I called into the spa hoping to get a last minute treatment as I had some spare time but it was not open yet, the lady on reception was really lovely though. There were other facilities which did look like they could do with some TLC.

The location of the hotel and surrounding area is fabulous. Room is spacious, nice decoration with all facilities needed from hair dryer, ironing board & iron, small coffee machine, table for working especially comfy bed and clean linen. I love the shower gel and hand wash products: organic and great smells. Food is amazing as well even it is a bit not many choices if you stay there for long time (I stayed 5 days). Similarly for drinks, not many options like cocktails. Overall, all others are overweighed the options of food and drinks. I enjoyed the Yoga sections every morning as well.

I would prefer the golf court is maintained a bit better for the grass cut properly and there are more golf clubs to borrow when we would like to play more than 4 people.

Just about everything - comfortable room, lake view even though we had not thought our 'standard room' would have one, Really excellent dinner and breakfast, wonderful location.

The bathroom was cold despite the piping hot towel rail, and it annoyed us very much that the staff changed the towels daily even though there is a notice on the wall about saving the planet by not changing towels if they are hanging on the rail, where we had hung ours! I contacted the spa by email before our visit to ask some questions but never received a reply.

The room was very comfortable and a good size, but lacked any views out of our windows. This didn’t affect our stay as the location was to die for. We had a meal on our first evening which was delicious. Breakfast was good apart from the beans which were cold even though they had just been put out? Very relaxing place to stay for a weekend break. We intend coming back soon and staying in one of the self catering villas.

Lack of a view from our room. Swimming pool was closed but we knew that before we arrived. Would have been nice if there was a tour of the main building.

The staff. If you had a question the staff answered it in a professional way. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The girl on reception, forget her name, was really helpful in our queries, but also to other guests who had a problem or a question that needed sorting out. Wish I had her name as she was really excellent. Check in was great.

Having to walk for breakfast uphill to the 'Blossoms' restaurant. Breakfast was self service and the fried selection was not very appetising. If you wanted scrambled egg then you needed to get the attention of the chef who was often too busy to be contacted and then if you were lucky you had to stand around like a lost sole waiting for your scrambled egg. Not very good. We found the meals really, really expensive.
