Ground floor room. Absolutely stunning. Roomy and spotless. Lovely and quiet. Friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast and good choices. Wonderful location in the heart of Stamford.

The location is excellent and the hotel has great indoor and outdoor spaces with lovely staff in all areas. The whole place, inside and out, was very well maintained and clean. The rooms are well equipped and the beds very comfortable. Rooms have a full range of facilities that are topped up daily. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Not enough useable storage space.

What a great find this hotel was. Excellent location, secure car park, friendly attentive staff throughout and great breakfast. Well appointed individual rooms with white fluffy towels and pillows that you could relax into. Everything was great, would recommend this hotel with confidence.

Garden, dining room, location

Bath in bedroom and no proper shower. Bath positioned so that it was impossible to reach the soap and shampoo dispensers without getting up in the bath. Hand shower attachment on bath meant that if you tried to use it to shower you also washed the curtains, windows and floor. Modesty panel built to shield the bath from the bed blocked the light to the room. Room very badly designed. Lovely bay window was filled with bath. Would be much better to remove the bath, put the chairs in the window so they had the view out to the square and extend the bathroom and put a proper shower in. Had we known about the bath situation we would have booked a different room.

The staff, the meals, the general overall service - another nice stay - hopefully will return again.

Despite loving the room we were given - first floor front room with beautiful bay window, elegantly decorated, fantastic large bed (most comfortable) it was slightly impractical in some ways e.g. the soap dispensers were not near enough to the bath to use comfortably and there was no towel rail which one could reach from the bath. It would have been nice to have a toothbrush holder above either the basin in the lavatory or the basin near the bath. However, don't let these niggles stop you booking that room - just be aware.

Everything was exactly as I needed: parking in the secure car park, central Stamford location, welcoming staff, clean room with tea/coffee and ensuite shower room all made my stay excellent. I returned late, and the night porter opened the door immediately. Breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of options.

The only small gripe was that the window overlooked the alleyway which was full of drinkers from the adjacent wine bar and was quite noisy. As it happens I went out later than the bar was open, but early in the evening with the windows open to enjoy the summer weather it was noisy.

The Crown Hotel is a really lovely old building, ideally based for the town centre. We were in their town house which is a very short walk from the main hotel, still very close to the town centre. The room was gorgeous and very comfortable and the power shower was amazing. The fan in the room was extremely welcome due to the warm weather. The breakfast was lovely. We had drinks and food the night before in their sister establishment next door, the food was amazing and the staff and general manager were lovely. We will definitely stay again.

The front door on the town house could probably benefit from a door closer because guests didn't always make sure it was fully closed, however the rooms were securely locked, which was fine. Also, due to the warm weather the little bottle of milk had gone off by morning.

The room was really nice, very comfy and spacious, a quiet room was requested and could not fault that, although my husband banged his head several times on the door frame as it was very low and he isn't that tall, perhaps better signage to warn you would be good, the courtyard was especially nice full of flowers and plenty of places to sit, the breakfast was very nice and staff very pleasant, poached eggs were not runny but overall a good breakfast.

The hotel was under some building work with scaffolding up at the front of the hotel, the car park was full of construction workers vehicles although we managed to park the car, it would have been good if this was communicated to us. I booked a superior room in the main hotel but we were put in a room in the cottage opposite, having said that the room was lovely and happy to stay.

The staff were very attentive, great attitudes, accommodating. The food was enjoyable, tasty and for veggies a pleasant range of options. The rooms (we changed after the first night) were clean.

The room (31) in the 'Town House' was a health and safety hazard. It was accessed via a steep, narrow, winding staircase with a low ceiling into a basement room with little natural light and no view. The bathroom was down another steep flight of steps, dangerous in the dark with no hand rails. At £183.50 per night, grossly overpriced for such discomfort when compared to the second room (14) after we asked for the change. We wouldn't have stayed had we known the quality of the first room in advance ! The car park was congested by construction work vehicles therefore space was not guaranteed.
